  • 삼척군 하장면에 있는 월둔굴은 지방기념물로 지정된 석회동굴이다. 이 동굴은 강원도 내륙지역에 해당되고 있으나, 내륙인 정선에서 동해안의 삼척에 이르는 내륙교통의 요지에 위치하고 있고, 그 동굴 속의 2차 생성물들의 학술적ㆍ관광적 가치도 크기 때문에 관광지 개발에 합당한 동굴이라고 판단된다. 더구나 이 곳 현지주민들의 인문ㆍ산업 면에서 볼 때에도 산간오지의 밭농사에 의존할 수밖에 없어 이 동굴의 개발이 지역주민의 소득증대에도 이바지할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

An analysis of Deconcentration Tendencies and Shifting -Share Situations of ICDs: Focused on the Southern Vietnam (내륙 컨테이너 기지의 탈 집중화 및 전이할당 현상 분석: 베트남 남부지역을 중심으로)

  • In Southern Vietnam, the competition among Inland Clearance Depot (ICD) has resulted in deconcentration tendencies and shifting share situations. However, related research on Southern Vietnam ICDs in particular and ICDs in Vietnam in general has been extremely limited. Hence, In this study, empirical research is conducted on ICDs located in southern Vietnam from 2010 to 2017. The throughput volume data of ICDs is analyzed by concentration indicators, namely the concentration ratio (CR), the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), the Gini coefficient, the Lorenz curve, and the shift share analysis (SSA). The results of adopting all the methodologies indicate that deconcentration was the mainstream trend for ICDs in Southern Vietnam during the period of 2010-2017. The findings provide insights into the process of container terminal development and have academic and managerial implications. The strengthening of the competitiveness of Vietnamese container ports and ICDs could affect the competing Southeast Asian neighbors by facilitating the port of more shipping companies.

Characteristics of PM10 concentration at seashore and inland according to land-use in Busan (부산지역 지역용도별 해안과 내륙의 PM10 농도 특성)

  • This study was conducted to consider the characteristics of PM10(particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters less than 10 ${\mu}m$) concentration according to land-use in Busan coastal area. Fine particle is affected by emissions, geographical conditions and meteorological factors. In case industrial area, Gamjeondong(inland) PM10 concentration was higher than Noksandong(seashore) at all season except for Summer. Primary peak at Gamjeondong cleared than Noksandong in Fall and Winter. In case green area, Daejeodong(inland) PM10 concentration was higher than Dongsamdong(seashore) at all seasons. In case commercial area, primary peak occurrence time at Jeonpodong lagged one hour according to season and diurnal change of PM10 concentration at Gwangbokdong was higher than Jeonpodong in Spring. In case residential area, high PM10 concentration(80~90 ${\mu}g/m^3$) lasted for six hours during the daytime in Spring at Deogcheondong and Yongsuri(inland).

  • China has achieved rapid economic growth in the late 1970s with economic reform and open-door policy. China's economic growth began initially in the eastern coastal areas and from the 2000s expanded to the western and northeastern regions where the economy was relatively underdeveloped. In particular, in 2013 'One-Belt One Road' initiative proposed by Xi Jinping, the current General Secretary of the Communist Party of China is not only a key strategy for China's advancement into the world and also provides important opportunities for the development of these backward regions. Inland Port is the inland logistics hub and plays a crucial role in enhancing access to maritime ports as well as access to adjacent inland countries. Therefore, a number of inland ports have been developed and operated in order to enter into overseas markets and secure resources in the northeastern and western regions of China. This study aims to examine the role and development of inland port in 'One-Belt One Road' scheme. In conclusion, 'One-Belt One Road' will further increase the role of inland port, and in response, the development of inland port will play a pivotal role in one belt one road initiative. In this respect, Korean companies need to consider plans to participate in the development and operation of inland ports in China, which would provide opportunities to spread Northern markets including China, Russia, Central Asia, Eastern Europe.

A Study on Climate Characteristics of Waterfront in Busan Area (부산지역 워터프런트의 기후특성에 관한 연구)

  • The waterfront has distinct climate characteristics different from urban or inland area. These may create not only the rise of energy and maintenance costs for facilities located at waterfront areas, but also the negative effects on the climate of the nearby inland area, unless these are treated with particular care. For the present study, the climate characteristics of waterfront were examined with climate data of 10 observation points carefully selected in Busan area. Each weather observation point was classified into either waterfront area of inland area, based on the distance from the coastal line. Special considerations were given to the climate data gathered at the Dae-Yeon weather station because it shows the climate characteristics similar to those of inland area, although it is located very near the waterfront area. Results indicates that this peculiar climate condition attributes, at least in part, to the reclamation of frontal coastal area.

The Distribution of Heat Waves and 10 Cause in South Korea (한국의 열파 분포와 그 원인에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to examine the distribution of heat waves and to understand its cause for 33 years$(1973\sim2005)$ from 60 weather stations in Korea. Heat wave is defined as a period of 3 or more days with a daily maximum temperature exceeds the 95th percentile. In the inland of Chungcheong region, the Chungcheong western costal region, the inland of Jeolla region, the inland of Gyeongsang region and the southern region of Jeju island, heat wave days appeared more than 160 days. In the middle region of eastern costal and the northern region of Jeju island, heat wave days were less than 110 days. In regions that were heavily influenced by southwesterly winds during the occurrence of heat waves, such as the inland of Chungcheong region, the Chungcheong western costal region, the inland of Jeolla region and the inland of Gyeongsang region, heat waves continued for the longer term.

  • This study aims to understand the patterns of spatial distribution of snowfall by Siberian High in the Honam region in Korea. In the Honam region, Siberian High induces snowfall dominantly. There is a huge amount of snowfall in the westward of the Noryung mountain ranges to the Wert coast in the Honam region affected by northwesterly wind directly from the Siberian High. The westward of the Noryung mountain ranges such as a heavy snowfall region has a various pattern of distribution of snowfall due to topography. The coast region has a large amount of snowfall by sea effect. And, snowfall amount is decreased from the coast to the inland plain. However, in front of mountain, snowfall is increase by reason of a forced ascending air to the mountain. In general the region where frequently appear a cumuliform cloud has a large amount of snowfall. A cumuliform cloud is frequent in the mountainous region in inland, the coast, and the inland plain in order Snowfall is intense in the coast and the mountainous region, and weak in the inland plain. In the mountainous region, a cumuliform cloud induced tv a forced ascending air by reason of topography generates snowfall mostly. This fact is the main difference with snowfall in the mountainous region and the coast region. In the result, in the Honam region, snowfall distribution and snowfall pattern are various, according to geographical climate factor such as sea and topography. The heavy snowfall region in the Honam region is divided into the coast region affected by sea effect and the mountainous region affected by topography effect.

The Spatial Distribution of Snowfall and its Development Mechanism over the Honam Area (호남 지방의 국지적 강설 분포와 그 차이의 원인에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to understand the characteristics of spatial distribution of snowfall and to analyze its development mechanism in Honam province in Korea. The areas of snowfall in Honan area can be divided into the seven sub-area by snowfall pattern. In the west coastal area of heavy snowfall and the southwest coastal area of heavy snowfall, snowfall develops over reason of ocean by Siberian High while in the northern inland area of heavy snowfall and the southern inland area of heavy snowfall, it develops when a strong Siberian High affects to inland. Then, much snowfall is by a forced ascending due to topography in Namwon, Imsil and Gwangju of the northwestward of the Noryung and Sobaek mountain ranges while it is weak in Jeonju and Suncheon of the low plains and the southeastward. In the mountainous area of heavy snowfall and the south coastal area of light snowfall, cyclone is also one of causes of snowfall. In the southwest coastal area, snowfall is meager than the southwest coastal area of heavy snowfall because this area is far from the west coast. It is confirmed that the snowfall difference of the coast, inland and mountainous area appears by temperature difference of sea surface and 850hPa temperature, wind speed of Siberian High.

Rice Blast Populations Isolated from the Border Area of North Korea (북한 접경지역의 벼 도열병균 레이스 분포)

  • Rice blast disease caused by Magnaporthe oryzae is the most important disease of rice in both South and North Korea. Cultivation of disease-resistant cultivar is the best way to prevent this notorious disease, but M. oryzae races have been continuously changed to adapt a new cultivar. Therefore, it is important to get the information about the race and avirulence genes of the pathogen for developing blast-resistant rice cultivar. Since the entrance of North Korea was prohibited, the information about the races of M. oryzae in North Korea border areas and South Korea was collected to get the information about the diversity of rice blast pathogen in North Korea. The disease occurrence on monogenic lines carrying single resistant gene was investigated in Jeonju, Suwon, Cheorwon, Goseong, and Baengnyeongdo in Korea, and Dandong in China. The monogenic lines in Jeonju and Suwon showed diverse ranges of the response, while those in Baengnyeongdo and Dandong showed relatively high resistant responses to rice blast. All the field isolates of M. oryzae were characterized for rice blast races by the Korean differential varieties and screened for known avirulence genes to determine the spatial distribution of avirulence genes and the population of M. oryzae.
