Effects of Bulb Circumference and Cultivar on the Cut Flower Quality in Lily. (백합의 품종 및 구근크기가 절화품질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate cut flower quality bulb circumference and cultivars affecting 7 different cultivars to produce high quality cut flower lilies. To determine the effects of bulb circumference on growth and cut flower quality of 7 different cultivars, Lilium oriental hybrid 'Chilli', 'Ismael', 'Medusa', 'Mother's Choice', 'Siberia', 'Sorbonne', and 'Yelloween' were tested. After cut flower quality experiment, the highest 1st flower bud length and cut flower height were 'Medusa' and 'Mother's Choice' respectively. Most plants had over $30^{\circ}$ stem bending angle except for 'Mother's Choice', and 'Ismael'. The study shows that the bigger bulb circumference has the better 1st peduncle diameter, inflorescence length, stem diameter, number of flowers, and fresh weight. Bulb circumference affects the 1st flower bud length, cut flower height and number of flowers. Stem bending angle, however, is affected by neither bulb circumference nor cultivar. In conclusion, growth, cut flower quality and vase life were affected by the bulb circumference rather than cultivar.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence relationship of spectators' evaluation, perceived value, overall satisfaction, and loyalty on the service quality of Goyang International Flower Exhibition. As a result of analysis, first, it turned out that the higher the quality of the fair service, the higher the perceived value, overall satisfaction and loyalty. Especially, fair service quality showed a greater influence on overall satisfaction than on perceived value. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of the fair service, careful planning and operation of event content, accessibility, and convenience are required. Second, perceived value did not have a positive (+) effect on overall satisfaction, but it had a positive (+) effect on loyalty. The reason for this is that the spectators' evaluation of the perceived factors that can induce the interest of the flower product and the increase of the purchase, such as the quality problem of the product, the design problem, the exhibition and display problem, was low. Third, both perceived value and overall satisfaction had a positive (+) effect on loyalty, but the effect of overall satisfaction was greater than that of perceived value. Therefore, a strategy for enhancing the perceived value is required.

Effects of the Daylight Disturbance on the Growth and Yield of Spray Chrysanthemum 'Yellow Cap' and 'Peach PangPang' (일조방해가 스프레이 국화 '옐로우캡'과 '피치팡팡'의 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to analyze the effect of changes in the light environment caused by the daylight disturbance on the growth, flowering, and cut flower quality of spray chrysanthemums. The spray chrysanthemum 'Yellow Cap' and 'Pitch PangPang' cultivars for cut flowers were artificially shaded to interfere with 66% of sunlight compared to the non-shading, and then the growing and flowering characteristics, and cut flower yield were investigated accordingly. There was no significant difference in the cut flower yield per unit area between the shading and the non-shading treatments. However, the number of days to flowering was 72.1 days for the 'Yellow Cap' and 65.2 days for the 'Pitch PangPang', which were delayed by 14.1 and 8.9 days, respectively, compared to the non-shading light. In the shading treatment, the flower diameter and the number of flowers also decreased by 10% and 15%, and 30% and 28% for both 'Yellow Cap' and 'Pitch PangPang', respectively. The stem length also decreased by 10% and 20%, the stem diameter by 23% and 37%, and fresh weight by 32% and 33%, respectively. The shading treatment delayed the flowering of chrysanthemums and reduced the growth such as flower diameter, number of flowers, and the length and weight of cut flowers. Based on these results, the daylight disturbance by artificial buildings is expected to reduce the productivity and quality of cut flowers by limiting the light intensity needed for chrysanthemum growth, flower bud differentiation, and flower development. Therefore, further research is needed on the rate of decrease in yield and market value according to the degree of shading to relieve damage to chrysanthemum growers caused by the daylight disturbance.

Quality Characteristics of Seasoned Pork with Fermented Oenothera biennis Juice (달맞이꽃 발효액 첨가 양념 돈육의 품질 특성)

  • The quality characteristics of seasoned pork with sauces containing different concentrations of fermented Oenothera biennis juice such as 5% (5-SP), 10% (10-SP) and 15% (15-SP) during storage for 15 days at $10^{\circ}C$ were investigated. The pH level decreased after storage for 6 days and pH 4.83~4.90 after storage for 15 days in all tested seasoned pork. The titratable acidity increased significantly after 6 days but did not show significant differences between seasoned pork. The total bacteria of seasoned pork were $10^7CFU/g$ (control) and $10^6CFU/g$ (5-SP and 10-SP) after storage for 9 days. The total bacteria showed a lower 1~2 log cycle in seasoned pork with fermented Oenothera biennis juice compared to control. The volatile basic nitrogen contents of seasoned pork were 18.02 mg% (control), 15.41 mg% (5-SP), 14.47 mg% (10-SP), and 17.51 mg% (15-SP) after storage for 15 days at $10^{\circ}C$, respectively. The a value (red) of pork seasoned with fermented Oenothera biennis juice was higher than that of control and decreased during storage. Cooking loss and water holding capacity of 5-SP and 10-SP were better than those of control and 15-SP during storage. The 5-SP showed the best sensory score in taste (4.00), color (4.00), flavor (3.91), and overall acceptability (4.09) among various seasoned pork groups.

Selection of Crabapple Pollinizers for 'Fuji' Apple through Physiological and Genetic Analysis (꽃사과 품종의 생리 및 유전적 분석을 통한 '후지' 사과의 수분수 선발)

  • We investigated characteristics and self-incompatibility genotypes of 11 crabapple cultivars to introduce a new pollinizer of 'Fuji' apple tree in Korea. Flowering dates of eleven crabapples were two to seven days earlier than that of 'Fuji'. The rate of pollen germination in vitro was ranged from 85.6% to 98.0% except 'Virginia'. Controlled pollination treatment with each crabapples to 'Fuji' increased fruit set rate about 20.4% to 34.4%, the number of seed per fruit about 13.8% to 42.3% and fruit weight about 7.4% to 16.7% compared to open pollination. Tested crabapples were resistant to peach fruit moth, brown leaf spot and sooty blotch in general. A PCR amplification method using S-RNase primers was carry out in eleven crabapples. S-alleles, $S_3$, $S_5$, $S_9$, $S_{10}$, $S_{20}$, $S_{26} from six crabapples were determinated. Through sequencing analysis, $S_5$ ('Manchurian', 'Virginia') and $S_9$ ('Yantaishagou') showed 100% homologous to previous result. Based on our results, it was recommended that 'Manchurian', 'Hopa A', 'Hanyaehanakaidou', 'Spectabilis' could be promising pollinzers for 'Fuji' apple cultivar.

  • 소엽(Perilla frutescens var. acuta)은 흔히 차조기, 자소엽 등으로 불리며, 식재료나 약재로 이용된다. 최근 들어 자소엽을 향장 원료로 활용하고자 하는 시도가 이루어지고 있다. 따라서 유기자재 처리를 통해 향장원료 자소엽의 고품질 생산을 위하여 본 시험을 실시하였다. 전북 농업기술원 허브산채시험장에서 육묘한 종묘를 2020년 5월 노지 포장에 주간 간격 50cm 한줄 재배로 정식하였다. 처리는 규산염(성분량 20%), 키토산(성분량 5%)가 함유된 자재를 각각 500배, 1,000배 희석하여 6월 21일, 8월 3일, 8월 23일 총 3회에 걸쳐 압축 분무기를 이용해 작물이 충분히 적셔지도록 살포하였으며, 무처리구는 물을 살포하였다. 초장, 초폭, SPAD, 생체중, 건물중을 조사하였으며 잎과 꽃의 총 폴리페놀 함량, 총 플라보노이드 함량, FRAP(철환원 항산화력) 활성 ABTS+ 라디칼 저해활성을 측정하였다. 생육특성 중 초장과 초폭은 처리간 유의성은 없었으나 무처리, 규산염 500배, 키토산 1,000배 처리에서 대체로 높았으며, SPAD는 키토산 1,000배가 가장 양호하였다. 수량성은 모든 자재 처리구가 무처리구보다 많았으며, 지상부 생체중은 무처리 대비 키토산 1,000배는 14.1%, 건물중은 무처리 대비 11.9%로 키토산 1,000배 처리가 수량성이 가장 많았다. 총 폴리페놀 함량은 꽃보다 잎에서 더 높은 수치로 나타났으며, 잎의 폴리페놀 함량은 규산염 500배 처리에서 가장 많았다. 꽃은 1,000배 처리에서 가장 높았다. 총 플라보노이드 함량은 꽃이 잎보다 높았으며, 잎은 규산염 500배 처리, 꽃은 키토산 1,000배 처리에서 함량이 가장 많았다. FRAP 활성은 잎의 경우 규산염 500배 처리에서 높았으며, 꽃의 FRAP 활성은 키토산 1,000배에서 좋았으나 처리 간의 차이는 크지 않았다. 자소엽 잎의 ABTS+ 라디칼 저해 활성은 규산염 500배 처리에서 가장 높았으며, 꽃은 경우 무처리에 비하여 자재 처리가 높았으며, 500배보다 1,000배 처리에서 높은 라디칼 저해 활성을 보였다. 이상의 결과, 자소엽 유기자재 처리는 무처리보다 대체로 수량성과 항산화 활성이 높았으나 추가적으로 적정농도 구명 후 경제성 분석이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

시설채소재배의 생리장해원인과 대책 -오이$\cdot$토마토-

  • 시설하에서 재배되는 채소류가 생육이 순조롭지 못하다던지 경엽은 생육하고 있더라도 착과되지 않거나 착과되더라도 모양이나 품질면에서 상품성이 낮은 것이 수확되는 경우가 많은데 그 원인으로는 병충해와 생리장해가 있다. 채소류가 생리장해를 일으키는 원인은 뿌리의 손상, 지상부가 생육이 불량하게되는 토양환경 및 비료조건의 불량, 지상부에 영향이 크게 나타나는 기상환경의 불량, 접목장해, 살균제, 살충제, 제초제, 생장조절 등의 살포에 의한 직접, 간접적 약해 등으로 나눌 수 있다. 이들 원인은 실제로는 서로 영향을 주어서 장해를 크게 하는 것이 많다. 또 장해는 주로 경엽이나 뿌리에 발생하고 장해가 심해지면 꽃이나 과실에 미치는 것과 꽃과 과실에만 나타내는 것이 있다. 우리나라에서 시설재배면적과 경제성이 크고 생리장해가 심한 오이와 토마토의 과실에 나타나는 생리장해를 중심으로 그 원인과 대책에 관해서 기술코저 한다.

Volatile components of chamomile(Matricaria Chamomilla L.) cultivated in Korea (한국산 카모밀의 향기 성분)

  • The essential oils from whole plant, flower, seed, stem and leaves of domestic chamomile were extracted by simultaneous distillation-extraction and analyzed by GC/ MSD/IRD and retention index matching. The experimental results revealed the presence of over 31 volatile components. Major components were chamazulene, bisabolol, bisabolol oxide A, B. The contents of these major components which possess the pharmacological effects were found to be flower(75.1%), seed(76.6%), stem and leaves(10.09%), whole plant (48.9%), respectively, in domestic chamoile oil, whereas found to be flower(49.2%) in foreign chamomile oil. These results suggest that the usefulness of domestic chamomile is promising because of high contents of these four major components which posses pharmacological effects.

Characterization of Optimum Conditions Affecting Single-Color Dyeing of Cut Rose (절화장미 단색염색에 미치는 몇가지 요인의 최적조건 규명)

  • This experiment was conducted to examine the treatment conditions for single-color dyeing using the variety 'Akito' which was selected based on the flower size, density, blooming shape, elegance, expression of the dying color. The optimal conditions of dyeing rose flower were pH 3.5 under the $20-25^{\circ}C$, in which the vase life showed 15 days as longest after dyeing. The most suitable flower stage for dyeing was identified as second or third stage at which three petals of flower are opened. $10g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ concentration of dyeing solution with $2mL{\cdot}L^{-1}$ treatment of spreader for rose dyeing gave the best color performance.
