In study, we investigated changes on growth and chlorophyll concentration on sprouted barley by fractionated X-ray irradiation (FXI). Group was divided into the control group (CG), 1-time irradiation group (30 Gy once), 2-time irradiation group (15 Gy 2 times), and 3-time irradiation group (10 Gy 3 times), and 20 grains were used per group. Experimental group (EG) was exposed by using linear accelerator (Clinac IS, VERIAN, USA), by 6 MV X-ray, SSD 100 cm, 18×10 cm2, 600 MU/min. Length was measured every day until 9th day, and chlorophyl was analyzed using spectrophotometer(uv-1800, shimadzu, japan) in 9th day. Data analysis was performed the One-way ANOVA using SPSS ver 26.0(Chicago, IL, USA). In the pre-germination irradiation group (Pre-GIG), the CG had greater length than the EG on all measurement days, and as the number of FXI increased, the length became shorter. In the post-germination irradiation group (Post-GIG), the length of the CG was statistically significantly greater than that of the EG on all measurement days, and as the number of FXI increased, the length also became longer. The chlorophyll concentration was higher in the Post-GIG than in the Pre-GIG, and chlorophyll concentrations of EG was higher in the Pre-GIG than in the CG, as well as and Post-GIG. In addition, the smaller the number of FXI, the higher the chlorophyll concentration in both groups. FXI was found to affect the growth and chlorophyll concentration of sprouted barley.
Effects of growth regulators, scion length and scion diameter on shooting and seedling characteristics were investigated to increase seedling products by root cuttings of lacquer tree. Shoots developed and emerged above-ground from the root scion at 3∼5 weeks after cut plating, most of that was a shoot but some of that were 2∼3 shoots. Otherwise, non-shooting was the reason that cortical layer was decayed. Soaking in zeatin was the most effective on shooting of root cuttings and high concentration was effective. Also soaking on high contents of BA or kinetin was effective on shooting but was lower totally than soaking on zeatin. Seedling characteristics among 3 growth regulators and 3 concentrations were not any difference in statistical significant, but were move excellent than control. As root scion was tall, shoots were developed at early. 15cm length scion was the most excellent to use seedlings but 3cm length scion was wickedness. 10cm scion, however, was highest to product of seedlings than any others. 0.3∼0.5 cm length scion was showed 76% shooting rate at 10 weeks after cut planting, but seedling characteristics were not any difference among the kind of 3 diameters.
Germination tests on 3 species that have potential for use as sprout vegetables, such as Coreopsis tinctoria, Saussurea pulchella, and Matricaria recutica, were conducted for 20 days under different temperatures of $15{\sim}30^{\circ}C$, and conditions of light and dark. C. tinctoria showed germination of 83% under $15^{\circ}C$ and dark condition after 4 days, S. pulchella 51.7% under $25^{\circ}C$ and light condition after 20 days, and M. recutica 90.3% under $25^{\circ}C$ and dark condition after 4 days. To investigate optimum plantlet size before greening treatment, seeds germinated were allowed to grow under darkness. The optimum growth of C. tinctoria was obtained under $30^{\circ}C$ after 5 days, S. pulchella under $25^{\circ}C$ after 6 days, and M. recutica under $20^{\circ}C$ after 6 days. Greening treatment resulted in diminished longitudinal growth, but C. tinctoria and S. pulchella showed more vigorous latitudinal growth. Days required before marketing as sprout vegetables were different according to species - Three days of greening was good for C. tinctoria, 2 for S. pulchella, no greening for M. recutica. Generally, tightly sealed containers for minimum water loss were recommended for storage of sprout vegetables after harvest. However, storage methods for each species were different depending on various factors like temperature of storage, presence of ventilation holes of storage packages and forms of marketing. More detailed research for above 3 species is proposed.
Multiple shoots were induced from in vitro shoot originated from winter bud of P. yedoensis from Jeju. Most explants grow in similar type among the five different media but affected by supplement of sucrose regardless of media. For mass-propagation various concentrations of BAP or $GA_3$ were treated in the medium respectively. BAP was very effective to produce multiple shoots and 3.5~9.5 shoots were formed on the explant. The shoots induced on the high levels of BAP have short internodes. No shoots were induced on the treatment of $GA_3$ but roots were induced on it. When $GA_3$ was supplemented with the medium containing BAP, multiple shoots were produced from the explants. The medium(WPM) containing with $0.5mg/{\ell}$ BAP and $4.0mg/{\ell}$$GA_3$ was most effective to produce multiple shoots. When the explants were cultured for 8 weeks, 39.5 shoots were developed in average.
This study was carried out to investigate the relationship between anatomical characteristics and growth rate of Quercus rubra from different origins of seed. Anatomical characteristics showed that all Quercus rubra species were ring-porous woods with 1~3 layers of large pores in earlywood, but the latewood had small pores oriented in radial direction. There were slight differences in libriform fiber length and vessel element diameter in the earlywood among different provenance origins of seeds. In growth rate, the libriform fiber length and vessel element diameter was negative correlation in the earlywood, but not correlative in the latewood, and vessel element length was not correlative in the early and latewood, Volumetric composition of libriform fiber and ray in latewood was higher than those in ear lywood, and a higher composition of vessel element was observed in earlywood. Ray height was the range of from 11 to 15 cells.
The growth, size and morphology of leaves, which foliated on the same shoot and time in the early growth season, were studied in 12 woody species in temperate deciduous forests of Korea, and the equation for the index of heteromorphism of leaves was fonnulated. The numbers of leaves per shoot were from 3 to 7 in early growth season and the numbers of synchronous leafing were from 2 to 6. All the leaves on a shoot were reached maximum values of specific leaf arells at the SIlme time nearly. The differences of the length (L) and breadth (B) of leaves along leaf rank (plastochron) were conspicuous, except for Quercus variabilis. Especially, in 10 species, the ~fferences of the neighbouring leaves were significant at 0.001 or 0.05 level. The index of leaf heteromorphism was calculated from the data based on $L\;{\times}\;B$ and LIB, and similar to differences of actual leaves along leaf rank. The values of index of heteromorphism were high in Carpinus tschonosldi, Styrax obassia, Ulmus davidiana, Rhamnus yoshinoi and Symplocos chinensis for. pilosa, and low in Sorbus alnifolia and Tilia amurensis. The index of heteromorphism had no relation to other characters of the leaf or life fonn of the species. It was thought that the differences along leaf rank were related to the degree of adaptation to environment, especially to changing air temperature in early growth season.season.

Veronica rotunda var. subintegra (Nakai) T. Yamaz. is perennial herb belonging to the family Scrophulariaceae, native to Korea. Plant growth regulators, cutting mediums, cutting position, and leaf size were examined to investigate the requirements for cutting propagation of V. rotunda var. subintegra. This study was conducted over a period of 6 weeks from March to May 2017 in the Division of Plant Resources, Korea National Arboretum. For all treatments, survival and rooting percentage was 100%. In PGRs experiment, the number of roots and shoot length treated with 100 mg/L IBA treatment was significantly higher than that of NAA treatment. The shooting percentage was decreased with an increase of the PGRs concentration. In growing substrates experiment, the number of roots on commercial soil (61.2) was the highest, followed commercial + kanuma soil (45.7), and the lowest was kanuma soil (41.8). The shoot length treated with commercial soil (8.9 cm) was significantly greater than that of kanuma soil (4.1 cm). In cutting positions experiment, the number of roots treated with apical (56.6) was significantly higher than that of basal (38.8). In leaf-cut experiment, the number of roots and of shoot length treated with full leaf was significantly higher than that of half leaf. As a result, we recommend treating cuttings with 100 mg/L IBA treatment, commercial soil, apical position, and full leaf for successful cutting propagation of V. rotunda var. subintegra.

IAA(250, 500, 1,000 ppm), IBA(250, 500, 1,000 ppm), NAA(250, 500, 1,000 ppm), 루팅(200배) 수용액에 50개의 삽수묘를 3분간 절단기부를 침지 후 모래에 치상하였으며, 무처리구는 바로 치상하였다.
Hybrids among some southern pines, Pinus rigida, Pinus taeda and Pinus serotina, were tested in Chunbuk area in order to investigate their adaptability to Korean climate and soils. The results were summarized as follows; 1) Hybrids between P. rigida and P. raeda showed good growth among interspecific hybrids of southern pines tested. In particular, P. taeda${\times}$P. rigida showed remarkable growth in Chunbuk area. 2) The survival rate of P. taeda was extremely low, probably because of cold susceptibility. 3) Volume growth was correlated with width and length of cone, length of needle and needle sheath at the 1% level. 4) Hybrids were generally located between the parents in cluster analysis.
