A Study on Characteristics of Direct Contact LNG Evaporator (직접접촉식 액화천연가스 기화기의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study addresses the phenomena of bubbling, icing, eruption, component varieties of the evaporated natural gas, and volumetric heat transfer coefficients obtained during the operation of a proposed LNG evaporator between LNG and water in direct contact. In the present investigation, the explosive and eruption phenomena within the water column were not observed during the entire operation of the heat exchanger. Compared with the natural gas produced by conventional LNG evaporator, the analysis of the gas produced by the direct contact LNG evaporator shows that nitrogen, methane, and ethane components were reduced by 0.002~0.007mol%(4~14%), 1.6~1.92mol%(1.9~2.3%) and 0.17~1.28mol%(1.1~8.4%) respectively, while the moisture content was rather increased by 0.51~0.76mol%. The maximum volumetric heat transfer coefficient of the direct contact heat exchanger was found to be $21, 800kW/m^3\cdotK$.

Fuel methanol as an alternative fuels (대체연료로서의 메타놀)

  • 이글에서는 메타놀의 성상과 재래의 내연기관에 메타놀을 사용하였을 때의 특성을 몇 가지 관 점에서 살펴보았다. 유리한 점으로 판단되는 사실은, 1)옥탄가가 높아 고압축비의채용으로 열 효율을 높일 수 있다. 2)기화참열이 크고 물과의 친화성이 좋다. 이러한 점은 내부냉각방식의 채용으로 이상적인 충상혼합기를 형성할 수가 있을 것이며, 현재의 내연기관의 냉각계통, 즉 방 열기, 물펌프, 냉각휜 등을 줄일 수 있을 것으로 본다. 또 NO.chi.의 배출을 저하시키는 이점도 있다. 3)단일성분 연료이므로 배기가스 조성이 단순하며 깨끗하다. 이는 배기공해상 메타놀연료가 석유계연료보다 유리하다. 그러나 메타놀기관은 앞으로 기술적 연구, 개선을 필요로 하는 점도 있다. 1) 메타놀의 가솔린과 비교하여 인화점이 높고 기화잠열이 커서 시동성이 나쁘고 2) 메타놀은 어느 종류의 금속, 프라스택, 도료 등을 부식시킨다. 3) 메타놀은 세탄가가 낮아, 압축점화는 무리이며 4) 발열량은 석유계 연료의 약 절반이다. 따라서 시동성, 재료, 착화방법, 개질 가스의 이용법, 내부냉각 등의 기술적인 문제가 개발된다면 질, 량, 가격적인 면에서도 내연기관용에는 메타놀이 유리하다고 본다. 그러나 현시점에서는 기관측으로 보아 자동차용연료로는 가솔린에 혼합하는 방법이고 그렇게 된다면 20-30%의 연료가 절감되리라고 믿는다.

  • For the launch preparation of KSLV-I, gaseous nitrogen with various level of pressure and cryogenic liquid nitrogen are required. Nitrogen Supply System on launch complex has been developed to perform the production of high pressure gaseous nitrogen, the production of gaseous nitrogen with temperature of 273 ${\pm}$ 2K for protection purge of launch vehicle after loading of propellant and the supply of cryogenic liquid nitrogen for cooling of fuel (kerosene) and oxidizer (liquid oxygen). The operational instability of vaporizer mainly caused by its heat transfer characteristics which sensitively depends on the atmospheric conditions was removed by introducing parallel installation of two vaporizer and their switching operation. The developed Nitrogen Supply System carried out its function successfully in preparation of KSLV-I flight tests.

Early Fuel Evaporator Effects on Cold Driveability of Automobile (조기연료 기화장치의 냉간 시동 및 주행 성능 분석)

  • The object of this paper is to investigate the effects of early fuel evaporators on cold driveability of gasoline passenger cars. Experiment has been carried out for the assessment cold start performance and cold driveability. And fuel consumption rate, emission and cylinder pressure were measured. On the base of combustion pressure of cylinder, rate of heat release, cumulative heat release amount and burned mass fraction are evaluated. The results show that fuel consumption rate is increased by 17.7%, monoxide and hydrocarbon were reduced by 23% and by 45% respectively, fluctuations of indicated mean effective pressure and maximum combustion pressure were increased by 4∼6%, fuel consumption rate per power was improved by 0.2∼2.3%. These are caused by the fact maximum heat release period and main combustion period are getting short.

  • In this study, according to increase of thermoelectric power plants that use LNG, LNG-FSRU(Floating-Storage and Regasification Unit) appeared and it is installed on the Topside in order to deliver in a gaseous state to consumers who are in the shore. This study about the study on the characteristics analysis of the system depending on changes in performance with the vaporization and temperature of the heat source. For the characteristics analysis of the system, we devided vaporization method into Ethylene glycol water vaporization method and sea water as a heat source. Then the system that can vaporize 200ton per hour of LNG of $-157.9^{\circ}C$ and 10,400kPa was configured, and according to the temperature of supplied sea water, required minimum flow rate value was calculated. Also in case of using Ethylene glycol Water as a vaporization method, providing for regional and seasonal factors such as decrease of temperature of water. The system is configured by adding a steam boiler of $174.5^{\circ}C$, 775kPa as heat source. The generation amount of the steam required according to the performance of the vaporizer compared to the water temperature changes in the steam boiler and the amount of required evaporative performance due to changes in the quantity of steam and Ethylene glycol Water was confirmed.

Study on Probabilistic Analysis for Fire·Explosion Accidents of LPG Vaporizer with Jet Fire (Jet Fire를 수반한 국내외 LPG 기화기의 화재·폭발사고에 관한 확률론적 분석에 관한 연구)

  • This study collected 5,100 cases of gas accident occurred in Korea for 14 years from 1995 to 2008, established Database and based on it, analyzed them by detailed forms and reasons. As the result of analyzing the whole city gas accidents with Poisson analysis, the item of "Careless work-Explosion-Pipeline' showed the highest rate of accidents for the next 5 years. And, "Joint Losening and corrosion-Release-Pipeline" showed the lowest rate of accident. In addition, for the result of analyzing only accidents related to LPG vaporizer, "LPG-Vaporizer-Fire" showed the highest rate of accident and "LPG-Vaporizer-Products Faults" showed the lowest rate of accident. Also, as the result of comparing and analyzing foreign LPG accident accompanied by Jet fire, facility's defect which is liquid outflow cut-off device and heat exchanger's defect were analyzed as the main reason causing jet fire, like the case of Korea, but the number of accidents for the next 5 years was the highest in "LPG-Mechanical-Jet fire" and "LPG-Mechanical-Vapor Cloud" showed the highest rate of accidents. By grafting Poisson distribution theory onto gas accident expecting program of the future, it's expected to suggest consistent standard and be used as the scale which can be used in actual field.

Removal of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) of Deodorant by Adding a Metal Oxide to the Essential Oils (식물정유물질에 금속산화물을 첨가한 탈취제의 휘발성유기화합물질의 제거에 관한 연구)

  • VOCs emissions from industries cause the air pollution and odor. In the industrial facilities, the existing odor treatment techniques have limits and problems. In this study, the optimum essential oil and metal oxide selected by screening test. lavender oil, cypress oil and TiO2 were determined by deodorant materials and those were blended by 5%, 45%, 10%, respectively. In addition, the result of batch type experiments depending on the dilution rate, injection, rate, temperature showed that the optimum condition of deodorant is 6 mL of injection rate, and 200 times of dilution rate and the removal efficiency increased in proportion with temperature. In addition, the activation energy was calculated from the rate equation, which appeared in the 3-4 times lower than conventional deodorants.

Study on the Heat Transfer Numerical Analysis of Supper Low Temperature Liquefied Gas Vaporizer (초저온 액화가스용 기화기의 열전달 수치해석)

  • Liquefied gas vaporizer means machine to vaporize the liquefied gas as liquid nitrogen($LN_2$), liquefied natural gas(LNG), liquid oxygen($LO_2$) etc. In the air type vaporizer, the frozen dew is also created by temperature drop (below 273 K) on vaporizer surface. This problem increases as the time progresses and humidity increases. In addition, the frozen dew gradually becomes frost deposit consequently, heat transfer through vaporizer decreases because frost deposit form adiabatic sheet. Because of this reason, recent vaporizer system is installed as parallel type, this vaporizer system needs more expensive installation costs and more space. This paper was investigated on the heat transfer characteristics of liquefied gas vaporizer with super low temperature and this paper was carried out the numerical about air heating vaporizer with super low temperature. The numerical analysis on the heat transfer was studied on the effect of geometric parameters of the vaporizer, which are length 1000 mm of 4fin75le type vaporizer. 4fin75le means number of fin is 4 and height of fin is 75 mm.
