The Effects of Using the Geometric Manipulative for the Development of Spatial Sense (기하 교구의 활용이 공간 지각 능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of using the geometric manipulative for the development of spatial sense and thus to find out a better mathematics teaching and learning method that could help develop students' spatial senses. The two fifth grade classes were randomly chosen as an experimental group (31 students) and a control group (32 students), respectively. This study implemented nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design of quasi-experimental design. The test instrument used in this study was a spatial sense test. The pretest and posttest were implemented with the same instrument. In addition, their classes were observed and videotaped, and the data and their study activities were analyzed. In conclusion, first, the geometric manipulative-aided activities contributes to developing students' spatial senses and their two sub-factors involves perceptual consistency and perception of spatial relationship. Second, the activities of grasping the components of solid figures, sketches and development figures by using the geometric manipulative contribute to boost students' perceptual consistencies and their perceptions of spatial relationship.

  • This research is focusing on find out the learning method for mathematics underachievers of middle school. The tested method were metacognitive activity through writing. For conducting research, I had selected mathematics underachievers of middle school. After selecting them, I made two group. One group studied using CAS calculator with paper and pencil. And another group studied using paper and pencil only. Both groups exhibited metacognitive learning activities. The analysis of result shows that the group with CAS calculator did better than the group of paper and pencil.

  • Tessellations are the pattern of iterations of geometric transformation. We can find them in the works of Escher, the famous Dutch artist. Also, We can find the beauty of tessellations in traditional Korean house doors, old Korean architecture, palace walls, and so forth. In this article, the figures of patterns we present are a pig, a frog, Tchiucheonwhang (the mascot of Korean football supporters), and figures by Escher, using the computer geometric program, GSP (Geometer's Sketchpad). We wanted to investigate the gender differences on students' achievement and disposition toward mathematics in constructing tessellations. The results indicated that if students were supported with well prepared instructional materials which helped students make their own figures, female students in particular would be more interested in learning geometric transformation.

  • This study is on the effects of lifelong education participative motivation, self-efficacy, and self-directed learning on subjective happiness of middle age adults. Middle age adults 40-64 years old are questionnaire survey target in Incheon and Gyeonggido and total 289 copies among 300 were analyzed through SPSS 21.0. The major findings of this study con be seen as follows: The variables more affected on educational satisfaction of middle age adults are goal-oriented motivation and activity-oriented motivation in lifelong education participative motivation, self-regulated efficacy in self-efficacy, and each personality, recognition and environment in self-directed learning. In conclusion, new paradigm is needed for middle age adults in lifelong learning society. This program should provide them with knowledge and information for adapting the future society, Furthermore, middle age adults can achieve their own self exploration, self-development and self-realization through the lifelong education program. Given a chance of lifelong education, middle age adults should be provided with the specific programs.

  • 21세기의 세계화, 정보화 시대를 주도할 자율적이고 창의적인 한국인을 육성하기 위하여 제7차 교육과정은 자율과 창의에 바탕을 둔 학생 중심의 교육과정을 표방하고 자기 주도적 학습 능력의 신장에 역점을 두고있다. 이에 따라 자기 주도적 학습 능력신장을 위한 수학과 교수 학습 자료들이 제작되어 보급 활용되고 있으나 구체적 조작기 아동의 특성에 맞는 초등학교 저학년 수학교과의 자기 주도적 학습 능력 신장을 위한 효과적인 프로그램은 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 선행 연구 사례들을 분식하여 나타난 단점들을 수정, 보완하고, 초등학교 '확률과 통계'영역 중 3학년 나 단계의 '자료 정리하기' 단원을 재구성하였다. 그리고 이를 웹기반 학습 프로그램으로 개발하여 현장에 적용해 봄으로써 그 효과를 검증하고자 한다.

Committee Learning Classifier based on Attribute Value Frequency (속성 값 빈도 기반의 전문가 다수결 분류기)

  • In these day, many data including sensor, delivery, credit and stock data are generated continuously in massive quantity. It is difficult to learn from these data because they are large in volume and changing fast in their concepts. To handle these problems, learning methods based in sliding window methods over time have been used. But these approaches have a problem of rebuilding models every time new data arrive, which requires a lot of time and cost. Therefore we need very simple incremental learning methods. Bayesian method is an example of these methods but it has a disadvantage which it requries the prior knowledge(probabiltiy) of data. In this study, we propose a learning method based on attribute values. In the proposed method, even though we don't know the prior knowledge(probability) of data, we can apply our new method to data. The main concept of this method is that each attribute value is regarded as an expert learner, summing up the expert learners lead to better results. Experimental results show our learning method learns from data very fast and performs well when compared to current learning methods(decision tree and bayesian).

  • 본 논문에서는 얼굴 인식을 위하여 인공 신경망의 일종인 Extreme Learning Machine의 학습 알고리즘을 기반으로 하여 지능형 알고리즘인 퍼지 집합 이론을 이용하여 주변 노이즈에 매우 강한 특성을 보이며 학습 속도가 매우 빠른 새로운 패턴 분류기를 제안한다. 제안된 퍼지 패턴 분류기는 기존 신경회로망의 학습 속도에 비해 매우 빠른 학습 속도를 보이며, 패턴 분류기의 일반화 성능이 우수하다고 알려진 Extreme Learning Machine의 특성을 퍼지 집합 이론과 결합하여 퍼지 패턴 분류기의 일반화 성능을 개선하였다. 제안된 퍼지 패턴 분류기는 얼굴 인식 데이터를 이용하여 성능을 평가 하였다.

  • 최근 패턴인식분야에서 성능향상을 목적으로 개별인식기들을 결합하거나 동적 선택에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 인식기를 동적으로 선택하는 경우에는 전체 학습패턴으로부터 학습한 개별 인식기를 이용하거나 클러스터링 알고리즘을 이용하여 학습패턴들을 특징공간에서의 부 영역으로 분할한 다음 각 클래스를 하나의 영역과 대응하는 방법이 사용되어 왔다. 이러한 접근방법에서는 각 패턴의 지역적인 정보를 이용하기 때문에 클래스 사이의 결정 경계부분에 대한 지역적인 정보를 이용하기 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 학습패턴의 지역적 영역에 대한 마이크로 인식기를 설계하여 임의의 테스트 패턴에 대한 지역적 영역에서 가장 성능이 좋은 인식기를 동적으로 선택하여 인식 성능을 향상시키는 방법을 제안한다.

  • In this paper, we propose a self instrument learning tool using a PC-based software and an external electronic keyboard instrument with USB interface to help primary school students to learn playing piano more easily and effectively. The PC-based learning software and the external electronic keyboard instrument interact through the USB interface. This tool has a help window to provide information how to play and support interesting game mode for exercise. The external electronic keyboard instrument receives a selective information through the USB interface and display it on LEDs and 7-segment for novices to easily know the relation between the notes and the positions in the keyboard. The external keyboard instrument can detect false inputs, display them on LEDs and on the information window. We implemented a self instrument learning system and our feasibility tests showed its validity of the self learning tool to improve the learning efficiency.

  • Machine translators first appeared in the 1950s and made a leap in translation accuracy by applying the neural translation system in the 2010s. However, it is still having difficulty in translating complex sentences, which made it inconvenient to use machine translators as an English learning tool. Therefore, this study analyzed the usability of a machine translator as an English learning tool through a backtranslation experiment of as phrases. As analysis tools, Google Translator, Naver Papago, and Microsoft Translator, were used since they are representative machine translators using a neural translation system. As a result of the study, findings are: The usability was significantly different according to each as usage when using a machine translator. Accordingly, as usages in sentences were classified into high, ordinary, and low usability. Unlike previous studies, this study has a research contribution in analyzing the machine translator as a direct learning tool and quantifying the usability of the conjunction as.
