Choi Han-gi's Change of Ontological and Epistemological Paradigm (최한기의 존재와 인식에 관한 패러다임의 전환)

  • The paradigm of existence and recognition was changed in the context of modernity in Choi Han-gi's thought, in which the resource of all things and all affairs was not li but ki and li could be guessed from ki. And there are lis in the sphere of recognition as well as in that of existence in Choi Han-gi's thought, which might be different from traditional thought system such as Neo-Confutionism. li is called Yuhaenguili in his ontological theory and Chucheukuili as one epistemological part. At anyhow there are many lis, which may be approached as the meaning of mechanism, in his philosophy. Besides there are, not only ontologically but also epistemologically, energetic factors, named as Unhwaki, whch are generating, moving, changing and altering. In his Kihak as an ki categorical thought, above all one's experience is of importance. He believed moral act, for example the expose of saving mind that was called Cheukeunjisim by Mencius, could be derived from social experience or contact. And he thought that the recognition of moral act might be achieved by the action of mysterious energy names as sinki of the essence of mind. Like these aspects, all things and all ones have their active, movable, and changeable natures in the sphere of both existence and recognition in Choi Han-gi's thought. In this way he got out of the previous ideas and presented practical and modern way of life to us.

Logic as grammar: Wittgenstein’s view of logic (문법으로서의 논리 ― 비트겐슈타인의 논리관 ―)

  • In accordance with his belief that philosophical problems arise from misunderstandings of the logic of our language, Wittgenstein's philosophical investigations were always focused on the problems of logic of language. Indeed, it can be said that his investigations were logical investigations. But what was the logic as conceived by him? He regarded logic as grammar from the beginning, but between his two different philosophical periods, there were important changes in his conceptions of grammar. In his earlier period, he understood the logic of language as the truth-functional syntax realizable in an ideal notation, while in his later period he regarded logic as the rules of language-use in various language games. It was a change from viewing logic as an ideally strict and universal system in which every logical possibilities are determined to viewing logic as an open system of non-strict grammatical rules specific to each language game. This paper deals with the gists of his earlier and later views on logic and the reasons for the change of his views, including specifically the reasons for the change of his views concerning the autonomy and necessity of logic as grammar.

  • This article's aim is to criticise ontological physicallism, supervenience, and eliminativism on theory of mind-body relation, and to present Confucian theory of mind-body relation as an alternative. Confucianism on theory of mind-body relation. Ontological physicallism reduce 'the psycho' to 'the physical'. Therefore, Physicallism as theory of mind-body relation reduce mind to physical body. Mind-Body supervenience theory insists property co-variation and dependency of mind-body. Eliminative materialism is to eliminate 'the psycho'. But confucianists believe in reality of the human mind-heart & it's nature. Confucianism is to establish the mina-heart & it's nature as real. Confucianism can be an alternative of physicallism, supervenience, and eliminativism on theory of mind-body relation. And Confucian's opinion differs from theory of the substance and phenomenalism.

Issues and Significance of the Li Theory of Nature in the 19th Century (19세기 성리학(性理學)의 쟁점과 그 의미)

  • Two schools represent the Li theory of nature in the 19th century. They are the Li's superintendence school of Lee Hangno, Ki Jungchin and Lee Jinsang and the Li and Ki's mutual superintendence school of Chun Woo. They share a theoretical concern about the blockage of Ki's free rein. However, their concepts of superintendence are very different. Thus, various disputes arise among them and consequently different solutions are proposed. The Li's superintendence school applies Li's power even in the actual world, which has completely dominated Ki by conferring dynamic power on Li. However, Chun Woo, a representative theorist of Li and Ki's mutual superintendence, accepts only Ki's dynamic power. By denying Li's dynamic power, he argues that there is no other thing than Ki which takes the lead in reality. His solution to block Ki's free rein is to make Ki(mind) a disciple of Li(standard or nature) and to make Ki follow Li's lead.

Study on the beginning pattern of simseul argument in the 19th Century -Based on the letter written by Hanju and Mangu (19세기 심설논쟁의 발단양상에 관한 연구 - 한주 이진상과 만구 이종기의 서신 내용을 중심으로 -)

  • This paper is a study of the beginning pattern of simseul argument in the 19th century, based on the letter written by Hanju(1818~1886) and Mangu(1837~ 1902). In the text, I analyzed the theoretical differences between Mangu and Hanju that inherited from the study of Jungjae, is to expand the scope of the dispute between the Hanju and Mangu which to provide the beginning pattern of simseul argument. By revealing the theoretical difference between Hanju and Mangu, in the opposite direction, the content of the simseul argument between the Hanju and Jungjae's developed could be clearer. In the Hanjujip, there are nine letters to Mangu, there are also three letters to the Mangujip. These letters show a certain difference in the learning of the two people. So the text focuses on the content of these letters and reveals their theoretical differences, eventually it is confirmed that their theoretical differences lead to the beginning pattern of simseul argument. In particular, interpretation of LiKi leads to interpretation of Sim. Sim interpretation centers on the interpretation of the Zhuxi's 'Ki of Jungsang' meaning, while Hanju emphasizes to see as Lee, Mangu emphasizes that as the sum of Liki. 'Ki of Jungsang' is an interpretation of Zhuxi' Sim, and in the end, interpretation of 'Ki of Jungsang' means interpretation of Sim. Thus, while Hanju tried to see of Li, Mangu wanted to see at the sum of LiKi. This is simseul argument between Hanju and Man-gu, which was unfolded in the extension of the 19th century's simseul argument of erection. Through their argument, they are going to use it as an opportunity to review details of how the debate started in the Toegye school.

  • 금번 특집호중 앞서 소개된 각종 냉매 또는 가스압축기의 소개를 통해 압축기의 종류 및 작동원리에 대한 내용은 이미 많이 소개되었을 것으로 생각됩니다. 따라서 실제 공기압축기를 사용하고 선정하는데 필요한 기본원리와 구조에 대해 간략히 소개하고자 합니다. 공기의 운동이나 공기 압축을 의미하는 Pneumetic 이라는 말은 고대 그리이스어의 "Pneuma"에서 유래 되었으며 호흡, 바람을 의미했고, 철학에서는 정신(영)을 의미했다. 공기압축기는 전기모터나 내연기관(원동기) 또는 터어빈 등의 동력장치로부터 동력을 전달받아 공기에 압축일을 가함으로써 공기를 압축시켜 압력을 높여주는 기계로서 오늘날 산업전반에 걸쳐 널리 사용되고 있고 이중 중소형 공기압축기의 대표 기종인 소형왕복동식공기압축기와 중형스크류식공기압축기의 원리와 구조에 대해 소개하고자 한다. 소개하고자 한다.
