  • Recently, it is a pretty well known way to compute GPS/INS using Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) and Network-based RTK for obtaining Exterior Orientation (EO) parameters of aerial photogrammetry. In this study, it is way to compute Exterior Orientation (EO) parameters using ground base stations, using Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) broadcast orbits and International GNSS Service (IGS) rapid orbits. And the residuals of Exterior Orientation (EO) parameters were computed based on the results of ground base station. As a result, the case of using SmartBase to obtain Exterior Orientation (EO) parameters was showed the high accuracy of X, Y, K more than using Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) of National Geographic Information Institute (NGII). Also, distance and direction of Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) of National Geographic Information Institute (NGII) from ground base station affected Exterior Orientation (EO) parameters. And different forms of residuals were shown according to the aerial photo courses.

  • According to the ICAO's Global Air Navigation Plan for CNS/ATM - Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance - systems, employing digital technologies, including satellite systems together with various levels of automation, are to be applied in support of a seamless global air traffic management system. For the future navigation, the focus of future implementation efforts can be placed entirely on an expected gradual migration toward GNSS-based navigation, Korea has been considered various options for airspace GNSS augmentation system: GBAS, SBAS and GRAS. This paper discusses current status and future trend of GNSS airspace navigation systems, and presents the results of possible augmentation options and scenarios to analyze system availabilities which could lead to the conclusion of the best program for Korea. The results showed that Korea could have sufficient availabilities from en-route to CAT-I approach with ABAS and GBAS. The study was in cooperated with MITRE, an American research company.

  • Based on the modeling of DGPS antenna and antenna site environment, the DGPS short-monopole antenna performance according to the antenna surrounding environment are analyzed in this paper. The DGPS antenna site modeling that considers the ground conductivity and radio wave obstacles is performed and the general requirements for DGPS antenna site are proposed. In case of antenna site with proper radials on the ground plane of the fixed scale, the effect for antenna matching network due to the ground conductivity and radio wave obstacles is small but the impact on the radiation efficiency is large. To provide the stable DGPS service, it is important to install the DGPS antenna on the flat ground plain with good conductivity and without radio wave obstacles.

  • GPS can provide precise relative navigation information. But it needs a reference station in a close range and is effected by satellite observation environment. In this paper, we propose INS and Vision sensor integrated system with a known landmark geometry. This system is supposed to overcome problems of GPS only system. Using the proposed method, a relative navigation is available without a GPS reference station. The only need for the proposed system is a landmark image which is drawn on the ground. We conduct simple simulation to check the performance of this method. As a result, we confirm that it can improve the relative navigation information.

  • It is well known that the encrypted ranging signal, such as GPS P(Y) code, is immune to spoofing attack. However, in order for users to use the signal, there needs permission from the operator. And also there are many restrictions for use because of security issues. In this paper, a ground reference station equipped with high-gain directional antenna and a user receiver were simulated. In the reference station, the encrypted code can be demodulated from the high-gain signal. And then the code can be used to detect spoofing attack in the user receiver. This paper proposes the spoofing detection method using the encrypted signal and deals with simulation results.

  • In general, it is necessary to establish the dedicated GPS base station at the central point of the survey area in GPS/INS aerotriangulation. Although this base station is needed to achieve the required survey accuracy, there are some difficulties in practical operation. To tackle these difficulties and to achieve the effective GPS/INS aerotriangulation, the GPS data of CORS was interpolated and used in stead of those of the usual ground base station. Through this study, it was found that the interpolated CORS data was accurate enough to substitute dedicated GPS base station in GPS/INS aerotriangulation.

  • The positioning accuracies tend to deteriorate as the distance between the rover and the reference station increases in the Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) surveys using Global Positioning System (GPS). To solve this problem, the National Geographic Information Institute (NGII) of Korea has installed Virtual Reference System (VRS), which is one of the network-based RTK systems. In this study, we conducted the accuracy tests of the VRS-RTK surveys. We surveyed 50 control points inside the NGII's GPS Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) network using the VRS-RTK system, and compared the results with the published coordinates to verify the positioning accuracies. We also conducted the general RTK surveys at the same control points. The results showed that the positioning accuracy of the VRS-RTK was comparable to that of the general RTK, because the horizontal positioning accuracy was 3.1 cm while that of general RTK was 2.0 cm. Also the vertical positioning accuracy of VRS-RTK was 6.8 cm.
