Face Recognition by Combining Linear Discriminant Analysis and Radial Basis Function Network Classifiers (선형판별법과 레이디얼 기저함수 신경망 결합에 의한 얼굴인식)

  • This paper presents a face recognition method based on the combination of well-known statistical representations of Principal Component Analysis(PCA), and Linear Discriminant Analysis(LDA) with Radial Basis Function Networks. The original face image is first processed by PCA to reduce the dimension, and thereby avoid the singularity of the within-class scatter matrix in LDA calculation. The result of PCA process is applied to LDA classifier. In the second approach, the LDA process Produce a discriminational features of the face image, which is taken as the input of the Radial Basis Function Network(RBFN). The proposed approaches has been tested on the ORL face database. The experimental results have been demonstrated, and the recognition rate of more than 93.5% has been achieved.

The Understanding of Determination of Horizontal Centration Point of Single-vision Reading Glasses (단초점 근용 안경의 수평방향 설계점 결정에 대한 이해)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare degrees of asthenopia in after wearing of dispensed reading glasses with different criterion of P.D. Methods: The person who has minus near correction power (distance correction value (-)) is compared to the degree of asthenopia by wearing of dispensed reading glasses with near P.D(-B) and distance P.D. The person who has plus near correction power is compared to degree of asthenopia by wearing of dispensed reading glasses with near P.D-B, distance P.D, near P.D-A. The "Near-P.D-A" means reduced optical centre distance of reading glasses of positive correction value at which the same effect of prism B.O through near visual point in distance glasses exist at near visual point in reading glasses. Results: When near correction value is (-), dispensed reading glasses with distance P.D have caused less asthenopia than dispensed glasses with near P.D-B. When the near correction value is (+), we cannot confirm that which P.D is more useful for reading glasses. As a result of this study, dispensed reading glasses with near P.D-A have caused less asthenopia than another criterion of P.D. Conclusion: The effect of prism B.I through a near visual point in distance glasses ((-) correction value) reduce convergence demand. Therefore (-) correction value-reading glasses support convergence in near vision, because the effect of prism B.I of reading glasses is smaller than that of distance glasses. When the near correction value is (+), centration points can be determined by one of near P.D-A, near P.D-B, distance P.D.

  • 본 논문에서는 고정점 알고리즘의 독립성분분석을 이용한 물체영상의 특징추출을 제안하였다. 여기서 고정점 알고리즘은 뉴우턴법에 기초한 것으로 빠른 특징추출성능을 얻기 위함이고, 독립성분분석의 이용은 통계적으로 독립인 기저영상을 효과적으로 추출하기 위함이다. 제안된 기법을 Image*after사에서 제공하는 352$\times$264 픽셀의 10개 물체영상을 대상으로 실험한 결과, 빠르면서도 정확한 복원성능과 PCA보다도 개선된 특징 추출성능이 있음을 확인하였다.

  • J-shaped superluminescent diodes (SLD) utilizing trench structure have been fabricated on the multiple quantum dots epi-structure with its ground state energy wavelength of $1.3\;{\mu}m$. It was observed that optical power was drastically increased up to 20 times in comparison with that of SLD without trench structure, The electroluminescence characteristics showed that the peak intensity of excited state was several ten times higher in the SLD with trench than without trench structure. It is explained that the optical power enhancement of J-shaped SLD with trench structure resulted from the drastic increase of peak intensity of excited state.

  • 본 논문에서는 적응광학시스템$^{(1)}$ 의 성능 향상에 필수적인 파면왜곡의 기울기 정보를 고속으로 측정하기 위한 중심점 추출 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서는 컴퓨터 내부의 영상처리전용보드와 CCD카메라를 이용하여 하트만 센싱 점 영상을 획득하였고, 획득한 하트만 센싱 점 영상에 대해 제안한 중심점 추출 알고리즘을 적용하여 서브픽셀 분해능으로 X축과 Y축의 기울기 정보를 고속으로 추출하였다. CCD센서에 촬상되는 하트만 센싱 점영상에서 각각의 점 영상은 중심점으로부터 대칭형으로 강도가 분포되어 있다고 가정할 수 있으나 전체 점영상의 각 점을 분석한 결과 비대칭적으로 예외적인 강도 분포를 갖는 점영상도 일부 발견되었다. 파면 왜곡이 없는 하트만 센싱 점영상으로부터 X, Y축 파면 왜곡 기울기 값을 추출한 결과 CCD 센서 픽셀의 기저 노이즈가 큰 불안정한 영역에서 기울기 값이 반복적으로 크게 추출되어 파면왜곡보정 시스템의 보정 성능을 떨어뜨리는 효과가 나타났다. A Study on a New Balun Structure with Vertically Periodic Defected Ground Structure (수직 결함 기저면 구조를 이용한 새로운 발룬 구조 연구)

  • In this paper, a new balun is proposed. This proposed balun has a DGS(Defected Ground Structure) pattern on the ground plane. The transmission-line is transformed by microstrip-to-slotline transition. DGS pattern on the ground plane and transition of the lines can be easily made a property of the balun. Resonance frequency of the DGS leads to operating frequency of the balun. Also the transition produces $180^{\circ}$ out-of-phase between two output ports without additional transmission line. In this paper, a new balun with VPDGS(Vertically Periodic Defected Ground Structure) effectively lower the operating frequency. To validate the proposed design method, the new balun is designed, fabricated and measured at 2 GHz.

Removing Baseline Drift from ECG Signal Using Smoothing Spline and Morphology Operation (평활화 스플라인 연산과 형태학 연산을 이용한 기저선 변동 잡음 제거)

  • Low frequency noise components causes the baseline drift in the ECG signals. In this paper, a morphological operation and smoothing spline technique are used for ECG signal processing in order to accomplish baseline correction. Removing the baseline drift from ECG signal using morphology operation, the feature of original signal may be distorted. To resolve this distortion problem, we applied a smoothing spline operation after morphology operation. In order to compare with existing morphology operation method for baseline correction, we apply proposed method to ECG data in MIT/BIH database. Compared to other existing method, our proposed method achieved low data distortion on the original signal.

Immunohistochemical Study on the Nerve Growth Factor receptors in the Basal forebrain Nuclei of the Postnatal and the adult Rats (출생후 발생단계와 성체의 흰쥐 전뇌 기저부 여러 핵들에서 신경성장인자수용체에 대한 면엮조직화학적 연구)

  • 출생후 0일. 7일. 14일 및 21일 그리고 성체의 흰쥐 전뇌 기저부의 내측중격핵, 수직 및 수평 대각 Broca대 거대세포 시삭전핵 그리고 복부담창구에서 신경성장인자수용체 (nerv-growth 배ctor receptor, NGFr)에 면역반응을 보이는 신경조직과 세포의 분화를 면역조직화학적 및 전자현미경적 방법을 이용하여 조사하였다. 출생후 초기와 성체에서 신경세포 원형질막 뿐만 아니라 세포질에서 NGFr 면역반응이 확인되었다. 그러나 성체에서 신경세포 원형질 막에서의 면역반응은 관찰되지 않았다. 특히 NGFr 면역반응은 골지 부위에서 보였고, 점상의 면역반응물들이 세포체의 세포질과 수상돌기에 소수 분산 분포하였다. 뇌 기저부의 NGFr 면역반응 신경세포들은 뇌 크기의 증대와 뇌 조직의 분화에 따라 점차 수적 증가를 보였다. 이 NGFr 면역반응 신경세포들은 세포의 모양과 세포체의 장 .단축의 비에 따라 6가지 형. 즉 1) 원형. 2) 타원형. 3) 세장형, 4) 방추형, 5) 삼각형, 6) 다각형으로 분류되었다. 전뇌 기저 핵에서 원형과 난형신경세포들의 출현율은 출생후 0일에서 높았으나 성체로 되면서 감소된 반면, 세장형. 방추형, 삼각형 그리고 다각형신경세포들의 출현율은 출생후 0일에서는 낮았으나 성체로 되면서 증가하였다. 모든 핵들에서 NGFr 면역반응 신경세포체의 부피는 출생후 0일에 759-1,640 Um3로 제일 작았으며, 수직 대각 Broca대와 복부담창구에서는 출생후 14일에 각각 5 107 7.385 Um3 그리고 내측중격핵, 수평 대각 Broca대, 거대세포 시삭전핵에서는 출생후 21일에 각각 4,705, 6,061, 6,412 Um3로 최대치를 보였다. 그후 성체로 되면서 모든 핵에서 1,893-3,464 $\mu$m3로 다시 감소하였다. 전자현미경적 관찰에서 출생후 21일된 흰쥐 수평 대각 Broca대에서 NGFr 면역반응은 세포체와 수상돌기의 원형질막 그리고 세포체내에서는 골지체, 다소포성소체 및 조면소포체에서 관찰되었다. 이 결과들로 미루어 NGFr은 출생후 발생단계와 성체의 횐쥐 전뇌 기저부에서 신경세포의 분화와 분포에 관계되는 것으로 생각된다.

Analysis of Electromagnetic Scattering from an Arbitrarily-Shaped Conductor using Duffy한s Method (Duffy 방법을 이용한 임의 형상 도체의 전자파 산란 해석)

  • The method of moment is applied to the analysis of electromagnetic scattering from an arbitrarily-shaped conductor. The conducting surface is discretized into triangular patches using a GID tool. Surface currents on a conductor are expanded with a vector triangle basis function. By using the Duffy's method, the singular integration appeared in a triangle patch can be transformed into the non-singular integral form suitable for one dimensional Gaussian quadrature integration method. Mutual and self integration extracted singular terms are evaluated by two dimensional Gaussian quadrature techniques.

MUSIC-Based Direction Finding through Simple Signal Subspace Estimation (간단한 신호 부공간 추정을 통한 MUSIC 기반의 효과적인 도래방향 탐지)

  • The MUSIC (MUltiple SIgnal Classification) method estimates the directions of arrival (DOAs) of the signals impinging on a sensor array based on the fact that the noise subspace is orthogonal to the signal subspace. In the conventional MUSIC, an estimate of the basis for the noise subspace is obtained by eigendecomposing the sample matrix, which is computationally expensive. In this paper, we present a simple DOA estimation method which finds an estimate of the signal subspace basis directly from the columns of the sample matrix from which the noise power components are removed. DOA estimates are obtained by searching for minimum points of a cost function which is defined using the estimated signal subspace basis. The minimum points are efficiently found through the Brent method which employs parabolic interpolation. Simulation shows that the simple estimation method virtually has the same performance as the complex conventional method based on the eigendecomposition.
