  • A new species, Fimbristylis jindoensis J. Kim & M. Kim, is herein named and described. It is found on wet lowland mountain slopes in Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, Korea. Fimbristylis jindoensis shares several characteristics (long-creeping rhizomes, oblong spikelets, brown scales, and three-sided achenes) with the related species F. pierotii Miq. It is, however, distinct from F. pierotii, which has terete culms with five to six furrows that are 9-48 cm tall, flowers in June to July, a dry grassland habitat, fewer than ten spikelets, and simple anthela inflorescences. In contrast, the new species has shallow furrowed oval culms which are 57-93 cm tall, flowers in July to August, a wet mountain habitat, more than twenty spikelets, and compound anthela inflorescences.

  • The nucleotide sequences of six markers, including nuclear ITS, chloroplast matK, rbcL, atpF-H, psbK-I and psbA-trnH, were analyzed for the plants known as Melia toosendan collected in Southwest China; M. azadarach planted in Southeast China, Korea and India; and species related to Sapindaceae in order to clarify the species boundary between M. toosendan and M. azadarach. The result of a phylogenetic analysis using the nuclear ITS and five chloroplast marker sequences determined that the plants known as M. toosendan and M. azadarach are the same species. These two species have been treated as a single species or as two different species depending on the researcher. The result of the present study supports the contention that the two species are the same. In addition, a sister species to M. azadarach registered in various countries with various basionyms is Azadirachta indica, a well-known medicinal plant. It has previously been classified as a member of the genus Melia.

  • Using starch gel electrophoresis, ten isozyme loci were examined in nine populations of Euphorbia ebracteolata in Korea. Populations of E. ebracteolata tend to have higher within-population levels of genetic variation (A = 2.2, P = 61.1, He = 0.165) along with low levels of genetic differentiation ($F_{ST}$ = 0.075) compared to previously reported Euphorbia species. The relatively high genetic variation in E. ebracteolata may be due to its long-lived regional distribution and to the outcrossed nature of the species. Low levels of genetic differentiation and the absence of unique alleles in E. ebracteolata populations suggest that Korean populations diverged recently. This study does not support the recognition of var. coreana and for. magna as separate taxa, and suggests that they should be combined with E. ebracteolata.

  • We report the distribution of Sparganium subglobosum Morong (Typhaceae) for the first time in Korea. Sparganium subglobosum is readily distinguishable from other Korea Sparganium species by having a short plant height, narrow leaves (${\leq}4mm$), thin inflorescence branches, and a ripe fruiting head globose and ca. 1 cm in diam. The species is under great threat of local extinction due to a recent disturbance of one of only two known distribution sites. Further conservation plans for S. subglobosum and surveys are needed. We provide a revised key to five Sparganium species of Korea, with descriptions, pictures, and figures of S. subglobosum.

  • The aim of this study is to propose guidelines for bus-stop information design that is more congested with the advent of U-Shelter, via case studies and focus group interviews. First, the literature research explored the concept of information design and correlation of information design and route map. Second, raising problems and consider improvement plans through case study in korea, overseas. Finally, current information design was evaluated and user's requests were derived through focus group interview. The current information design had problems with lack of priority, information overlaying, and hard recognition. Priority shall be selected by bus route, direction of bus, arrival time, interval, and operating time, and information overlay can be reduced into one. Also visualize the connection and direction between the lines using schematic and two-dimensional lines and shapes for recognition. Through this study, it will be used as a reference material to help improve and develop the bus-stop information design.

  • According to COSO(2013) "Internal control is a process that is designed to provide reasonable assurance that a firm can achieve its objectives, where differing aspects of internal control can be partitioned into operating objectives, reporting objectives, and compliance objectives." Internal control over financial reporting(ICFR) is focus on reporting objectives and includes that provide reasonable assurance regarding prevention or timely detection of unauthorized acquisition, use or disposition of the company's assets that could have a material effect on the financial statements. Thus, firms with weak ICFR have negative a effect on Firm value because those firms are great likelihood of misappropriation and inefficiency decision. In this regard, this study investigates the association of ICFR with the likelihood of firm failure. Specially, I measure the characteristic of ICFR as disclosures of material weaknesses and operating personnel of ICFR. I identify the likelihood of firm failure as going-concern opinion issued in audit report. As result, I find that a higher probability of firm failure is positively associated with the material weakness in ICFR also I find that a higher probability of firm failure is negatively associated with experience and qualified CPA of personnel in ICFR.

  • Songaksan volcano, which occurs as a monogenetic volcano on the southwestern promontory of Hallasan shield volcano, is composed of tuff ring, cinder cone, lava pond and cinder conelet complex on wide basalt plateau. Except for an influx of external quartz xenocrysts in the tuff ring. Totally the volcano ranges from trachyandesite to trachybasalt in petrography and chemical compositions, which confirm the continuum between the evolved and primitive compositions widely occurring in the Jeju volcanic system. Chemical data for the volcano show quantitative compositional variation from the lower to the upper part of the volcanic sequences. The continuous compositional variations generally define a compositionally zoned magma storage. The chemical data suggest that the compositiona1 donations might have resulted from the fractional crystallization of a parental alkali magma. As result, the Songaksan volcano initially tapped the lop of the zoned magma storage and subsequently erupted successively more primitive magma.
