Virtualized hardware resources provides efficiency in use and easy of management. Based on the benefits, virtualization techniques are used to build large server clusters and cloud systems. The performance of a virtualized system is significantly affected by the virtual machine scheduler. However, the existing virtual machine scheduler have a problem in that the I/O response is reduced in accordance with the scheduling delay becomes longer. In this paper, we introduce the Loan/Redemption mechanism of a virtual machine scheduler in order to improve the responsiveness to I/O events. The proposed scheme gives additional credits for to virtual machines and classifies the task characteristics of each virtual machine by analyzing the credit consumption pattern. When an I/O event arrives, the scheduling priority of a virtual machine is temporally increased based on the analysis. The evaluation based on the implementation shows that the proposed scheme improves the I/O response 60% and bandwidth of virtual machines 62% compared to those of the existing virtual machine scheduler.
Recently, parallel computing using GPGPU(General-Purpose computing on Graphics Processing Units) according to the development of the graphics processing unit is expanding. This can be achieved through the processing speeds faster than traditional computing environments across many fields, including science, medicine, engineering, and analysis. However, in using the GPU technology to implement the a parallel program there are many constraints. In this paper, we port a CPU-based program(Video Quality Measurement Program) to use technology. The program ported to GPU-based show about 1.83 times the execution speed than CPU-based program. We study on the acceleration of the GPU-based program. Also we discuss the technical constraints and problems that occur when you modify the CPU to the GPU-based programs.
This study determined the optimum microalgae species and concentration for the brackish water flea, Diaphanosoma celebensis, in individual and community cultures by feeding it several different diets. Six single trials (Tetraselmis suecica, Isochrysis galbana, marine Chlorella ellipsoidea, freshwater Chlorella vulgaris, Scenedesmus sp., Selenastrum sp.) were conducted at 10 psu and $30^{\circ}C$. The community and individual cultures of the water flea were performed in 1-L beakers and 3-mL vessels (12-well culture plates), respectively. In the community cultures, the maximum density and specific growth rate were highest for water fleas fed T. suecica, reaching 60.0 individuals (ind.)/mL and 0.40, respectively. In the individual cultures, the most offspring and greatest life span of females were 56.9 ind. and 24.3 days, respectively, in the T. suecica trial. By contrast, diets of Scenedesmus sp. and Selenastrum sp. resulted in poor growth rates. In the T. suecica experiments examining a range of 10 to $200\times10^3$ cells/indl. the specific growth rate of the water flea tended to increase with the amount of supplement, while the life span decreased. The maximum density and number of offspring of females was highest at 53.5 ind./mL and 38.8 ind. respectively, at 40,000 cells/ind. These results suggest that the best microalgae species for the mass culture of D. celebensis is T. suecica and the optimum concentration is 40,000 cells per individual.
This study investigated the optimum salinity and temperature conditions for mass culture of the brackish water flea, Diaphanosoma celebensis. Community and individual cultures of flea were maintained in 1 L beakers and 3 mL vessels (of a 12-well culture plate), respectively, and fed green algae, Tetraselmis suecica. In salinity experiments ranging from 5 to 34 psu, continuous growth of flea populations was found up to 34 psu. However, the specific growth rate and life span of females showed decreasing tendencies with the increase of salinity. The highest maximum density and offspring number were 33.6 individuals (ind.)/mL and 55.3 ind. at 10 psu, respectively. In the temperature experiments ranging from 20 to $40^{\circ}C$, population growth of D. celebensis increased continuously until $35^{\circ}C$ and then decreased over $40^{\circ}C$. The specific growth rate was significantly higher at 25 and $30^{\circ}C$ than at 20 and $40^{\circ}C$. Female life span tended to decrease with temperature increase. The highest maximum density and offspring number were 52.3 ind./mL and 46.0 ind. at $30^{\circ}C$, respectively. These results suggest that the optimum salinity and temperature for mass culture of D. celebensis may be 10 psu and $30^{\circ}C$, respectively.

The Monte-Carlo simulation of statistical analysis is used to investigate the final conditions of states as well as the footprint boundaries resulting from the atmospheric re-entry dispersions. The re-entry dispersions in this paper are specified by a $7\times7$ covariance matrix of latitude, longitude, altitude, bank angle, flight path angle, heading error, and range at entry velocity. The error sources that affect these at re-entry for a deboost are the uncertainties associated with atmospheric density and temperature, initial errors, wind, and estimation error of aerodynamic coefficients. Using $3{\sigma}_n$ deviations of these errors and a nominal flight trajectory, the covariance matrix of state variables can be determined by performing a trajectory error analysis. Major considerations in the application of the Monte-Carlo method are the simulation of perturbed trajectories, bank reversal, and determination of the impact points for each of these trajectories. This paper analyzes the results of uncertainties from the viewpoint of aero-coefficients and bank reversal.
In general, the high quality audio coding(HQAC) has the structure of the convertional data compression techniques combined with moodels of human perception. The primary auditory characteristic applied to HQAC is the masking effect in the spectral domain. Therefore spectral techniques such as the subband coding or the transform coding are widely used[1][2]. However no effort has yet been made to apply the temporal masking effect and temporal redundancy removing method in HQAC. The audio data compression method proposed in this paper eliminates statistical and perceptual redundancies in both temporal and spectral domain. Transformed audio signal is divided into packets, which consist of 6 frames. A packet contains 1536 samples($256{\times}6$) :nd redundancies in packet reside in both temporal and spectral domain. Both redundancies are elminated at the same time in each packet. The psychoacoustic model has been improved to give more delicate results by taking into account temporal masking as well as fine spectral masking. For quantization, each packet is divided into subblocks designed to have an analogy with the nonlinear critical bands and to reflect the temporal auditory characteristics. Consequently, high quality of reconstructed audio is conserved at low bit-rates.
The sequence of a 1795 bp restriction fragment containing the B. circulans F-2 gene for NaC1- dependent $\alpha$-amylase (CI-amylase) is reported. The probable coding region of the gene is 1005 base pairs (335 amino acida) long. The NaC1-dependent $\alpha$-amylase (el-amy) sequence shows an open reading frame (ORF) with the translated molecular weight of about 38, 006, which correspond to a molecular weight of about 35, 000 (Mi). The gene is preceded by the sequence resembling promoter for the vegetative B, subtitis RNA polymerases. These are followed by the sequences resembling a B. subtilis ribosome binding site 5 nucleotides before the first codon of the gene. Homologous regions with other amylases were found. The N-terminal sequences of the mature proteins expressed in E. eoli were identical to the N-terminal sequences which are anaIysed.
In this paper we establish some recurrence relations satisfied by quotient moments of upper record values from the power distribution. Let {$X_n$, $n{\geq}1$} be a sequence of independent an identically distributed random variables with a common continuous distribution function(cdf) $F(x)$ and probability density function(pdf) $f(x)$. Let $Y_n=max\{X_1,X_2,{\cdots},X_n\}$ for $n{\geq}1$. We say $X_j$ is an upper record value of {$X_n$, $n{\geq}1$}, if $Y_j$ > $Y_{j-1}$, $j$ > 1. The indices at which the upper record values occur are given by the record times {$u(n)$}, $n{\geq}1$, where $u(n)=min\{j{\mid}j>u(n-1),X_j>X_{u(n-1)},n{\geq}2\}$ and $u(1)=1$. Suppose $X{\in}POW(0,1,{\theta})$ then $$E\left(\frac{X^r_{u(m)}}{X^{s+1}_{u(n)}}\right)=\frac{\theta}{s}E\left(\frac{X^r_{u(m)}}{X^s_{u(n-1)}}\right)+\frac{(s-\theta)}{s}E\left(\frac{X^r_{u(m)}}{X^s_{u(n)}\right)\;and\;E\left(\frac{X^{r+1}_{u(m)}}{X^s_{u(n)}}\right)=\frac{\theta}{n+1}\left[E\left(\frac{X^{r+1}_{u(m-1)}}{X^s_{u(n+1)}}\right)-E\left(\frac{X^{r+1}_{u(m)}}{X^s_{u(n-1)}}\right)+\frac{r+1}{\theta}E\left(\frac{X^r_{u(m)}}{X^s_{u(n)}}\right)\right]$$.
Insecticidal activity of 31 registered insecticides was tested against Metcalfa pruinosa adults. All experiments were conducted at the recommended concentration (ppm) of each insecticide. Among them, 16 insecticides from organophosphates (dichlorvos, fenitrothion, fenthion, methidathion, phenthoate), carbamates (methomyl), pyrethroids (${\alpha}$-cypemethrin, deltamethrin, fenpropathrin, ${\gamma}$-cyhalothrin), neonicotinoids (acetamiprid, clothianidin, dinotefuran, imidacloprid, thiamethoxam), and other (endosulfan) showed 100% mortality by spraying on the body of M. pruinosa adults. Dichlorvos, fenitrothion, fenthion, methidathion, phenthoate and endosulfan showed 100% mortality by plant-dipping method. The residual effect was showed 100% mortality in four insecticides (fenitrothion, fenthion, methidathion, phenthoate) at one day after treatment, and three insecticides (fenitrothion, methidathion, phenthoate) were showed the mortality of 90% at three days after treatment.
