Derivation of Geostationary Satellite Based Background Temperature and Its Validation with Ground Observation and Geographic Information (정지궤도 기상위성 기반의 지표면 배경온도장 구축 및 지상관측과 지리정보를 활용한 정확도 분석)

  • This paper presents derivation of background temperature from geostationary satellite and its validation based on ground measurements and Geographic Information System (GIS) for future use in weather and surface heat variability. This study only focuses on daily and monthly brightness temperature in 2012. From the analysis of COMS Meteorological Data Processing System (CMDPS) data, we have found an error in cloud distribution of model, which used as a background temperature field, and in examining the spatial homogeneity. Excessive cloudy pixels were reconstructed by statistical reanalysis based on consistency of temperature measurement. The derived Brightness temperature has correlation of 0.95, bias of 0.66 K and RMSE of 4.88 K with ground station measurements. The relation between brightness temperature and both elevation and vegetated land cover were highly anti-correlated during warm season and daytime, but marginally correlated during cold season and nighttime. This result suggests that time varying emissivity data is required to derive land surface temperature.

  • 최근 지속적인 심한 가뭄의 발생은 사회적 이슈가 되고 있으므로 가뭄을 감시할 수 있는 가뭄 모니터링 뿐만 아니라 경감할 수 있는 가뭄전망이 되어야 한다. 이를 위해 우선적으로 우리나라 실정에 맞는 최적화된 가뭄지수의 선정 혹은 개선이 필요하며, 다음으로 개선된 가뭄지수를 기반으로 한 다양한 가뭄정보들이 수자원확보를 위한 관리와 정책에 활용되어야 한다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 국내 기존에 활용되고 있는 수문학적 가뭄지수인 MSWSI를 개선하였으며, 개선된 MSWSI를 이용하여 앙상블기법 기반의 확률론적 가뭄전망을 수행하였다. 대상 유역은 낙동강 유역을 선정하였으며, 연구내용을 살펴보면, 첫 번째로 MSWSI의 개선에 있어서는 (1) 유역 내 공식적으로 수집되는 모든 수문기상인자를 조사하여 중권역 유역별로 기존 MSWSI에서 적용한 4개 인자(강수량, 하천유량, 댐 유입량, 지하수량) 뿐만 아니라 사용 가능한 적합한 인자(댐 저수위, 댐 방류량)를 추가 선정하여 반영; (2) 각 수문인자들에 대해 기존에는 정규분포만 적용하였으나 본 연구에서는 각각 인자별 적합한 확률분포를 추정하였다. 두 번째로 극심한 가뭄이 발생한 2006년과 2014년을 대상으로 개선된 MSWSI를 이용한 앙상블기반 확률론적 가뭄전망을 수행하고 검증하였다. 분석 결과를 살펴보면, 개선된 MSWSI를 과거 실측 수문기상자료를 이용하여 검증한 결과 기존 MSWSI보다 개선된 MSWSI가 과거 발생한 가뭄현상을 더 잘 나타내어 개선된 MSWSI가 효용성이 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 앙상블 기반의 확률론적 가뭄 전망 결과, 기존보다 개선된 MSWSI를 이용한 가뭄전망이 우수한 결과를 나타냈다. 또한 대부분의 유역에서 실제 가뭄의 가뭄지수가 개선된 MSWSI를 이용한 가뭄전망 범위에 속하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • In Ansan (the headquarter of KORDI ; Korea Ocean Research & Development Institute), KOSC(Korea Ocean Satellite Center) is being prepared for acquisition, processing and distribution of sensor data via L-band from GOCI(Geostationary Ocean Color Imager) instrument which is loaded on COMS(Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite); it will be launched in 2009. The basis equipment of KOSC(Electric power, Network, Security) has been constructed in 2007. KOSC is being constructed data processing and management system, GOCI L-band reception system, etc. The final object of KOSC is that maximize the application of GOCI.

  • Condition Monitoring System (CMS) has been used to detect unexpected faults of wind turbine caused by the abrupt change of circumstances or the aging of its mechanical part. In fact, it is a very hard work to do regular inspection for its maintenance because wind turbine is located on the mountaintop or sea. The purpose of this study is to find out distribution patterns of vibration signals measured from the main mechanical parts of wind turbine according to its operation condition. To this end, acceleration signals of main bearing, gearbox, generator, wind speed, rotational speed, etc were measured through the long period more than 2 years and trend analyses on each signal were conducted as a function of the rotational speed. In addition, correlation analysis among the signals was done to grasp the relation between mechanical parts. As a result, the vibrations were dependent on the rotational speed of main shaft and whether power was generated or not, and their distributions at a specific rotational speed could be approximated to Weibull distribution. It was also investigated that the vibration at main bearing was correlated with vibration at gearbox each other, whereas vibration at generator should be dealt with individually because of generating mechanism. These results can be used for improving performance of CMS that early detects the mechanical abnormality of wind turbine.

A Study on the Effect of Atmosphere on the Space Surveillance Radar (우주감시레이다에 대한 지구 대기권 영향 분석 연구)

  • In this study, both the altitude error due to the refraction and the range error due to the delay in the ionosphere with respect to the frequency are extracted according to the radar elevation to analyze the effect of atmosphere on the space surveillance radar. To achieve this, the radio refractivity profile is modeled using the measured data from domestic weather stations. Then, the altitude-error due to the refraction is extracted using the ray tracing method, and the range error in the ionosphere is extracted according to the frequency. Further, considerations for radar design with respect to the radar error characteristics are discussed based on the abroad space surveillance radar and proposed domestic space surveillance radar. This analysis of the error characteristics is expected to be utilized for the determination of radar location, range of steering, and frequency in the space surveillance radar design.

Estimation of Chemical Speciation and Temporal Allocation Factor of VOC and PM2.5 for the Weather-Air Quality Modeling in the Seoul Metropolitan Area (수도권 지역에서 기상-대기질 모델링을 위한 VOC와 PM2.5의 화학종 분류 및 시간분배계수 산정)

  • The purpose of this study is to assign emission source profiles of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and particulate matters (PMs) for chemical speciation, and to correct the temporal allocation factor and the chemical speciation of source profiles according to the source classification code within the sparse matrix operator kernel emission system (SMOKE) in the Seoul metropolitan area. The chemical speciation from the source profiles of VOCs such as gasoline, diesel vapor, coating, dry cleaning and LPG include 12 and 34 species for the carbon bond IV (CBIV) chemical mechanism and the statewide air pollution research center 99 (SAPRC99) chemical mechanism, respectively. Also, the chemical speciation of PM2.5 such as soil, road dust, gasoline and diesel vehicles, industrial source, municipal incinerator, coal fired, power plant, biomass burning and marine was allocated to 5 species of fine PM, organic carbon, elementary carbon, $NO_3{^-}$, and $SO_4{^2-}$. In addition, temporal profiles for point and line sources were obtained by using the stack telemetry system (TMS) and hourly traffic flows in the Seoul metropolitan area for 2007. In particular, the temporal allocation factor for the ozone modeling at point sources was estimated based on $NO_X$ emission inventories of the stack TMS data.

  • SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) uses electromagnetic signals to acquire ground information and has been used for wide coverage reconnaissance missions regardless of weather conditions. However SAR is known to be vulnerable to interference signals by other communication devices or radar instruments and may suffer from undesirable performance degradations and image quality. In this paper, a modified Eigen-subspace based filter is proposed that can be easily applied to SAR images affected by interference signals. The method of constructing Eigen-subspace based filter is briefly described and various simulations are performed to show the performance of the interference mitigation process. The suppression filter is applied to a ALOS PALSAR raw data affected by interfering signals in order to verify its superiority over the Notch filter.

  • According to CNS/ATM, a new concept of navigation system, ADS-B systems are being built in the field of surveillance. FIS-B is one of the key elements of ADS-B, and also provides various flight informations, weather informations to the aircraft. In this paper, we reviewed the FIS-B standard and analyzed performance requirements. And then we designed and implemented FIS-B. In this simulation, we showed performance of FIS-B. And this research is very useful to the future work.

무인항공기의 제어기술개발 동향

  • 20세기에 탄생한 동력비행기는 인간의 이동능력을 비약적으로 향상시켰다. 인류의 미개척지였던 항공분야의 발전은 지속적인 기술개발을 통해 더 빨리, 더 멀리, 더 높이 향하기 위해서 계속 나아가고 있다. 이러한와중에 최근에 괄목할 만한 성장을 이룬 컴퓨터와 소프트웨어 산업의 발전은 비행임무에 따라 위험성이 높거나, 사람이 하기 힘든 반복적이고 지루한 비행을 대신하기위한 로봇 비행체 즉, 무인항공기의 개발을 가능하게 하였다. 무인항공기의 탄생 초기에는 조종사의 희생을 줄이기 위해 군사 분야에서 주로 사용되었으나, 산림감시나 해안정찰, 기상관측, 재난관측, 조난자 수색 등 민수분야의 임무로 점차 활동영역이 넓혀지고 있다. 현재 무인항공기에 탑재된 인공지능의 수준은 안정된 비행이 가능하도록 하는 자동조종(autopilot)과 주어진 비행경로를 추종하기위한 항법유도(Navigation & Guidance)정도이며, 비행 중 발생하는 비상상황에 대처하기 위한 의사판단은 지상의 조종자에 의해 결정된다. 앞으로는 계획되지 않은 상황을 맞이했을 때 무인기 스스로 판단하여 경로를 변경하고, 동시에 여러 무인기들과 협력하여 임무를 수행함으로써 임무효율을 높이는 방향으로 인공지능의 수준이 향상될 것이다. 본 논문에서는 최근의 무인항공기 개발추세와 이들 무인기에 고려되고 있는 제어기에 대해 살펴보고, 향후 무인항공기에 적용될 자율비행 알고리듬과 제어기 시스템의 개발동향에 대해 고찰하였다.

A Study on Intelligent On-line Tool Conditon Monitoring System for Turning Operations (선삭공작을 위한 지능형 실시간 공구 감시 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • In highly automated machining centers, intelligent sensor fddeback systems are indispensable on order to monitor their operations, to ensure efficient metal removal, and to initate remedial action in the event of accident. In this study, an on-line tool wear detection system for thrning operations is developed, and experimentally evaluated. The system employs multiple sensors and the signals from these sensors are processed using a multichannel autoegressive (AR) series model. The resulting output from the signal processing block is then fed to a previously tranied artificial neural network (multiayered perceptron) to make a final decision on the state of the cutting tool. To learn the necessary input/output mapping for tool wear detection, the weithts and thresholds of the network are adjusted according to the back propagation (BP) method during off-line training. The results of experimental evaluation show that the system works well over a wide range of cutting conditions, and the ability of the system to detect tool wear is improved due to the generalization, fault-tolearant and self-ofganizing properties of the neural network.
