To this end, this study conducted analyses with a sample of 2,006 regular citizens from the Giving Korea 2020 survey constructed by the Beautiful Foundation. The main analysed results are as follows. First, citizens' altruism and social trust significantly positively influenced giving behavior for COVID-19. Specifically, when altruism increased by one level, the likelihood of giving participation increased about 3.00 times and the likelihood of giving intention increased about 3.60 times. Second, the influences of citizens' altruism and social trust on giving behavior for COVID-19 were moderated by gender and age. Whereas the influence of altruism on giving participation was more pronounced for women, the influence of altruism on giving intention was more pronounced for young citizens. Also, the influence of social trust on giving intention was more pronounced for young citizens. Employee participating corporate philanthropy, such as giving or volunteering, are especially increasing recently. This study analyzed the effects of giving and volunteering participation of the employees on job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior mediated by recognition and attitude about corporate philanthropy. Structural equation modeling was employed for statistical analyses. As a result of the study, it is clear that giving participation of the employees has a positive influence in job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior, mediated by the recognition and attitude about corporate philanthropy. However, the effects of volunteering participation of the employees on job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior mediated by recognition and attitude about corporate philanthropy was non-significant. Based on this result from the study, factors to increase the inner stakeholder effect of employee participating corporate philanthropy are proposed.

  • In this paper, we propose an iPhone application that allows the user to pay for donations using the camera, GPS and call functions of the iPhone. As iOS version 3.0 allows the iPhone camera to detect and read bar codes and QR codes, the proposed application uses such codes to identify a product the user wishes to donation. After determining the user's location using the iPhone GPS function, the application can then perform a navigation task that guides the user to a suitable shop or store where the user can make his or her donation. In addition, the application offers an ARS call function that allows the user to make a direct donation, even if the user does not know the telephone number for making such donations. Therefore, the proposed application provides an easy means for the user to pay for donations directly or indirectly.

  • Competing theories predict that others' contributions might be either substitutes or complements to one's own. Based on such competing theoretical discussions, this study attempted to examine the relationship between information about other citizens' giving behavior and citizens' giving. To achieve study objective, this study utilized a natural field experiment that investigates citizens' voluntary contributions to three types of kettle (transparent kettle with no money, transparent kettle with a large amount of bills and coinage, and red invisible kettle) during Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign in 2011 and 2012. The experiment took place at subway stations which does not differences in the amount donated in previous years. In this field experiment, this study manipulated information about other citizens' giving behavior available to citizens by altering the different red kettle donation boxes. This study found that there are no positive or negative information effect on individual citizens' contributions. The results did not show either crowding-out effect or crowing-in effect. Thus, this study showed that social information has statistically non-significant impact on the propensity to donate and the amount donated.

  • This study was developed from the idea that giving has been interpreted exclusively as a social selection based on reasonal thinking. The purpose of the presented study was to investigate the hypothesis that giving was a habitus of citizen, based on Bourdieu theory of social setting and habitus. For that purpose, this study analyzed the secondary data from KGSS 2011 through SEM. Result revealed that the goodness of fit for the proposed structural model was high. Also, level of virtue as civizen and social participation as citizen were significantly associated with level of giving, supporting the hypothesis that giving was a hibitus of citizen.

  • According to a statistical survey, despite the continuous improvement of the economic level, the participation rate of donations is decreasing. As a cause of this phenomenon, the problem of reliability of donation organizations is a big part. In order to increase viewers' intention to donate, this study developed a donation campaign linked data service that shows information that can increase the credibility of donation organizations and storytelling of donation recipients. Specifically, a user scenario of a data service that is properly operated in conjunction with a donation campaign that is broadcast shortly was defined, and a user interface was designed by reflecting the characteristics of the TV platform. In addition, a prototype based on the DVB-MHP standard was developed to analyze the effect of the data service utilization on viewers' intention to donate.
