This paper aims to suggest a facet-based ontology model that can help sort and access records of dispersed families to address these problems. The facet systematically defines the categories of target concepts, which can create diverse and multiple access points. Using the top-down and bottom-up approaches, the facets, which consist of five upper classes and 18 lower classes, were derived for the records of dispersed families. The proposed ontology model was evaluated by real users. The results show that, overall, the ontology is complete and relevant in terms of access points, availability of context information of the records, and description elements for search and use of the records on dispersed families.

The ultimate record management's purpose is preservation and utilization. However, the National Archives of Korea (NAK)s Portal has problems such as search system aging and search tools dualization. As a result, the users' search satisfaction is not satisfied, and the improvement demand increases. This study aimed to evaluate the NAK's search quality as a preliminary study for NAK search system advancement. To this end, we analyzed the current status of CAMS and NAK's Portal. Then, we established the test sets and evaluated the NAK's Portal quality from the user's point of view. Evaluation results were analyzed using Precision, Recall, F-score, and MRR. The analysis results showed that the overall search performance was low, particularly in the "advanced subject search," which showed low performance in Precision, Recall, and MRR. Thus, improvement is urgently needed. The test sets established for this study are expected to be used as a basis for objectively measuring the improvement of the search performance after the NAK search system advancement.

This study investigates the current state of online research guides of the national archives of four countries including the UK, the USA, Australia, and Korea. It also analyzes the name and accessibility, subject coverage and categorization, number of guides completed, and structure and types of resources linked with each guide. The examined online research guides are evaluated based on accessibility, variety, systematization, consistency, and hyperlinks. Based on the analyses, it suggests the directions of designing research guides for the National Archives of Korea.

This article focuses on analyzing the cases of on-line archival contents services of the national archives' web-sites and explaining their types and characteristics. This study defines the concept of on-line archival contents services through literature review. Then, it examines the cases of on-line archival contents provided by web-sites of the USA, the UK, Australian and Korean national archives. The types of on-line archival contents services are classified in accordance with the main purpose of use, the structure, and the way of interaction between contents and users. Lastly, it summarizes their structural and thematic characteristics by type and country.

The space designated for kindergarten and elementary school students, who accounted for half of all users of the presidential archives, is now lacking, with the archives' programs focusing on exhibitions and field trips. With this, an experience exhibition is seen as the most effective way to communicate the value of presidential records and archives based on the theory of cognitive development. Therefore, this study proposes an experiential exhibition program for children about presidential archives based on the experience economy under theories that are recently getting attention. The Presidential Archives through the Experiential Exhibition program for children proposed by this study will become a place for the cultural communication of all generations.

This study aims to examine the change of awareness on presidential archives and records before and after impeachment by analyzing user frames. To achieve the goal of this study, prior studies of frame analysis were reviewed, and tweets of presidential archives and records before and after the impeachment were collected. This study conducted an analysis of Twitter and news extracted from Twitter using user frames and determined the differences between each frame over time. Afterward, five frames were set up to be used for the research through prior research and Twitter network analysis; changes in frames over time were examined by analyzing Twitter and news extracted from Twitter. Through such frame analysis, changes in the frame of presidential archives and records before and after the impeachment were examined, changes in public perception of presidential archives and records were identified, and areas of interest were determined. This study is significant as it identified changes in the public perception of presidential archives and records as well as in the areas of interest for the general public.

Query logs are online records that capture user interactions with information retrieval systems and all the search processes. Query log analysis offers ad advantage of providing reasonable and unobtrusive means of collecting search information from a large number of users. In this paper, query logs of NAVER, a major Korean Internet search service, were analyzed to investigate the information seeking behabior of NAVER users. The query logs were collected over one week from various collecions such as comprehensive search, directory search and web ducument searc. It is expected that this study could contribute to the development and implementation of more effective web search systems and services.

This research was based on the investigation of the awarenesses of librarians of issues regarding the privacy of the users of school libraries. It sought to determine if, by raising the issue of the importance of the need for the protection of the personal information of the users of the school libraries, and the implications of not paying attention to the rules in effect, the awareness regarding the privacy of the users of school libraries would be improved. For this, previous research related to the privacy of the students, the legal basis for the protection of the privacy of the domestic and foreign students, and the types of the infringements upon the protection of their personal information were investigated. A survey was conducted to measure the awareness of issues related to the privacy of the users of the library. The research showed the results as follows: First, the awarenesses regarding the privacy of the users of the school libraries appeared low, and low recognition was also found regarding the awareness of the cases of the infringements upon the privacy of the users of the school libraries; regarding the awareness in relation to the protection of privacy; regarding the seriousness of the privacy problems of the users; and regarding the factors that can encroach upon the privacy of the users. Second, regarding the seriousness felt when the library records of the users of the school libraries are leaked to the outside, 41.6% of the respondents responded by saying "It is serious", and 18.4% responded by saying "It is not serious". Third, as a result of investigating the awareness regarding whether the consent of the person concerned is needed in case a third party requests access to reading the records in the library, 68.5% of the respondent responded "It is needed", and only 10.4% responded "It is not needed". Last, in the investigation into whether the respondents had the experience of being educated as to the rules related to the privacy of the users at a school or an external organization, over 80% of the respondents answered that they did not receive it.

This article intends to establish a online service of oral history archives. Unlike common records, it is important to understand the contextual relation of oral history archives. The context of oral history archives can include the context of oral history contents in addition to the connection with records produced in the process of performing work function of agency which performs collecting oral history archives, and the connection between oral history archives formed in the process of collecting oral history archives. Therefore this article emphasizes that the context of oral history archives has an important role and function in on-line service of oral history archives by researching the plan for on-line service of oral history archives based on the context of oral history archives.

The research aims to recommend strategies to promote PR activities of 'the Memory of the World(MoW)' on the websites. To achieve the goal, the researchers analyzed the current conditions of online PRs of the MoW in S. Korea by developing the standards/elements for analysis. The research examined the two main concepts of MoW and extracted the three core standards/elements for evaluating current online PRs of MoW through reviewing earlier studies: contents of PRs, ways of PRs, and features of media. The research examined PR activities on the 21 websites of 11 institutions which manage MoW in South Korea. The research found the significant features of the online PRs and suggested detailed strategies for improving the online PRs of MoW: first, it is required to emphasize the values of both preservation and utilization of MoW equally. Second, it is necessary to promote the PRs of MoW by using the way of 'user segmentation'. Third, it needs to develop the unit systems and/or services to integrate with related documentary heritages so that users can access documentary heritages effectively and efficiently. Finally, it is required to develop the guidelines or/and manuals to conduct and promote the PRs of the MoW by providing specific directions and methods of publicities.
