4,4'-Diaminodiphenylmethane Migration from Nylon Kitchen Utensils using LC-MS/MS (LC-MS/MS를 이용한 나일론수지제 주방기구 중 4,4'-Diaminodiphenylmethane 이행량 실태조사)

  • In order to cope with risk issues of overseas on 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane (4,4'-MDA) known to used in the production of polyamide resins, we investigated on 4,4'-MDA migration from plastic cooking utensils. 93 samples of plastic cooking utensils were collected from the retail markets in 7 major cities of Korea during March to June, 2007 and 4,4'-MDA levels migrated to food simulants, water, 4% acetic acid, 20% ethanol and n-heptane, on plastic cooking utensils was quantified by liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). 4,4'-MDA was detected in 14 samples, and the levels of 4,4'-MDA migrated to food simulants were in the range of $0.001{\sim}0.026$ ppm. Among them, the 4,4'-MDA migration amounts of 2 samples were above 0.01 ppm defined by the EU.

  • Streptomycetes is a group of Gram-positive soil bacteria that growas a branching vegetative mycelium leading to the formation of spores, and display a physiological differenti-ation related to the synthesis of many secondary metabolites including antibiotics. Their complex life cycle and multicellular differentiation require various levels of regulation and types of signal transduction systems including eukaryotic-type serine/threonine protein kinases and prokaryotic-type histidine/aspartic acid protein kinases. Akt kinase that was found in cells is a sorine/threonine kinase controlling signal pathway for multi-tude of important cellular events. The activation or inactivation of Akt kinase in the cell is one of the critical regulatory points to deliver cell proliferation, differentiation, survival or apoptosis signal. To find the regula-tory protein homologous to Akt in Streptomyces, the fluorescien-labeled synthetic peptide (FITC-TRRSR-TESIT) was designed from the consensus sequence of target proteins for Akt kinase. From the difference of the mobility between the nonphosphorylated and phosphorylated synthetic peptides on Agarose gel electro-phoresis, the Akt-phosphorylating activity was monitored. The cell-free extract prepared from Streptomyces griseus IFO 13350 and the Akt homologous protein was purified by ammonium sulfate fractionation and many steps of column chromatographies such as, DEAE-Sepharose, Mono Q, Resource Phenyl-Soporose and Gel permeation column chromatographies. As a result, the protein phosphorylating the fluorescien-labeled Akt substrate was identified and it's molecular weight was estimated as 39 kDa on SDS-PAGE.

Stabilization of cubic-BN/hexagonal-BN Mixed Films by Post-Annealing (후 열처리에 의한 cubic-BN 상과 hexagonal-BN상 혼합 막의 안정성 향상)

  • BN films composed of c-BN(70%) and h-BN(30%) phases have been synthesized by the ion beam assisted deposition (IBAD) process and stabilized by post-annealing. Boron was e-beam evaporated at 1.2 $\AA$/sec and nitrogen was ionized and accelerated at about 100 eV by the end-hall type ion gun. Substrates were negatively biased by DC 400 and 500 V, respectively, and heated at $700^{\circ}C$. Synthesized BN films were in-situ post-annealed at 700 or $800^{\circ}C$, respectively, for 1 hr without breaking vacuum. BN films without post-annealing were peeled off from substrates immediately when they were exposed to the air while those with post-annealing at $800^{\circ}C$ were stabilized. Post annealing reduced the film stress from 4.9 GPa to 3.4 GPa, but no considerable stress release in the c-BN phase was observed, contrary to previous reports that the stress relaxation in the c-BN phase is the main mechanism for the stabilization. Structural and chemical relaxation of non c-BN phase is supposed to be responsible for the film stress reduction and, in turn, stabilization, especially when the c-Bn content of the film is not high.

  • The preparation of ZrC/SiC mixed powders from $ZrSiO_4/C$ and $ZrSiO_4/Al/C$ systems was attempted in the temperature range below $1600^{\circ}C$ under Ar or $Ar/H_2$ gas flow(100-500ml/min). The formation mechanism and kinetics of ZrC/SiC were suggested and the resultant powders were characterized. In $ZrSiO_4/C$ system, ZrC and SiC were formed by competitive reaction of $ZrO_2(s)$ and SiO(g) with carbon at temperature higher than $1400^{\circ}C$. The apparent activation energy for the formation of ZrC was approximately 18.5kcal/mol($1400-1600^{\circ}C$). In $ZrSiO_4/Al/C$ system, ZrC was formed by reaction of ZrO(g) with Al(l, g) and carbon at temperature higher than $1200^{\circ}C$, and SiC was formed by reduction-carbonization of SiO(g) with Al(l, g) and carbon at temperature higher than $1300^{\circ}C$. The products obtained at $1600^{\circ}C$ for 5h consisted of ZrC with lattice constant of $4.679{\AA}$ and crystallite size of $640{\AA}$, and SiC with lattice constant of $4.135{\AA}$ and crystallize size of $500{\AA}$. And also, the mean particle size was about $21.8{\mu}m$.

하천 오염현황과 대책

  • 인구의 도시집중과 고도산업사회 건설에 필연적으로 수반되는 도시하수 및 산업폐수등은 하천을 심각하게 오염시켜 하천수가 지니고 있는 자정능력 한계를 초과하고 있어 재생될수 없는 상태이므로 수자원의 보호가 요청된다. 이런 상황의 하천오염 증가 추세와 주요 오염원 및 오염물에 대하여 고찰하고 대책에 방향을 제시한다. 먼저 전국의 급수 현황과 장래를 보면 다음과 같다. 한편 수도권 한강수계를 오염시키는 주요 오염원인 폐수를 보면 주거지의 생활하수, 상업행위로 발생되는 폐수와 공장의 산업폐수로 대별할 수 있으며 수도권 한강에 유입 되는 지천 수질을 보면 다음과 같다. 위와 같은 상태의 총폐수량은 280만톤인데 비하여 청계, 중량하수처리장과 서부 북부 동부분뇨처리장의 일일 처리능력은 16.4%에 불과하다. 한편 서울지역 오염원구성비를 보면 다음과 같다. 이런 계속적인 오염물은 1977년 경우 갈수기에 80~100t/sec의 하천유량으로 희석되고 있어 자정능력 한계를 벗어나서 하류의 물은 혼탁하고 용존산소의 고갈현상을 초래하고 있다. 그러므로 도시 하천에서는 수류침체로 인한 하상퇴적을 방지하여 국소적 오염의 심화를 방지하며 유량을 증가 시켜야 한다. 수도권 한강 수계의 수질의 일부는 다음과 같다. 한편 생활수준의 향상과 더불어 수요가 급증되며 처리장의 효율과 하천수의 수질을 악화시키는 합성세제의 총생산량은 1971년에 21000톤이던 것이 1978년에는 약 50,000톤에 이르고 있으며 이중 55~60%가 서울지역에서 소모되는 것으로 추산되어 진다' 결과 한강수에서 검출되는 합성세제의 오염 현황을 보면 다음과 같이 이미 몇개 지점에서는 세계 보건기구의 허용량인 0.5ppm을 초과 하고 있는 실정이다. 또한 오염의 연쇄현상을 나타내는 중금속의 일종인 csduium의 검출 정도를 보면 다음과 같다. 이상의 하천오염에 따른 수중생태계의 변화는 물리적 화학적 생물학적 환경요인이 복합적으로 작용하는 세부적 기계에 대하여는 규명되지 않은 문제가 아직도 많으며 지표생물의 표현형은 중요한 가치를 부여하고 있다. 식물성 plankton의 우점종의 출현 빈도에 따른 수질계급을 보면 뚝섬지역 BOD 3.3~5.3 빈부수성 $~\alpha$ 중부수성, 보광동 BOD 6.0~10.3중부수성, 제 2한강교 BOD10~28 $\alpha$ 강부수성, 난지도 BOD29 $\beta$ 강부수성 등이며 이와 상이한 결과도 보여주고 있다. 이상으로 볼 때 1) 가정하수의 질을 높이기 위하여 분뇨정화조 의 효율증대 2) 산업폐수의 공정별 폐수량의 조절 및 폐수성 상에 따른 총량규제에 대비한 효율증대 3) 하천의 오염부하와 자정능력 최대한 부여 4) 폐수처리를 위한 미생물제개발 및 오염지표 종 연구와 오염내성 생물의 연구등이 종합적 으로 수행되어야 한다. 5) 이상의 모든 조사와 연구결과를 객관적으로 표기할 수 있도록 하천의 이정표가 정해져야 하겠다.

Optimization of Catalytic Reaction for Synthesis of 2-Methyl-4-methoxydiphenylamine (2-Methyl-4-methoxydiphenylamine 합성을 위한 촉매반응의 최적화)

  • Reaction mechanism was elucidated and reaction condition were optimized for the catalytic reaction synthesizing 2-methyl-4-methoxy-diphenylamine (MMDPA) which is an intermediate of Fluoran heat-sensitive dyestuff. Reactants consisted of 2-methyl-4-methoxyaniline (MMA), 3-methyl-4-nitroanisole (MNA), and cyclohexanone, and 5 wt % Pd/C was used as a catalyst. Experiments were run in an open slurry reactor equipped with reflux condenser, and products were analyzed by means of GC/MS and NMR. MMDPA yield of 90 mole % could be obtained after reaction time of 8~10 hours under the optimal reaction conditions comprising the reaction mass composition of MMA : MNA : cyclohexanone = 1 : 2 : 150 based on MMA input of 0.01 gmoles in xylene solvent, reaction temperature of $160^{\circ}C$, and catalyst amount of 0.5 g. It was found that the rate-determining step of overall reaction was dehydrogenation of the intermediate product obtained from condensation of MMA and cyclohexanone. Overall reaction rate and MMDPA yield were enhanced owing to hydrogen transfer reaction by introducing MNA together with MMA in the reaction mass. Excess cyclohexanone in the reaction mass played an important role of promoting the condensation of MMA and cyclohexanone.

The cross-mlaxation from $^5D_0$ to CTB (Cha'geTransfer Band) wuld be a quite retsonable by considering the excitation spectrum. It could be also found thatthe quenching type was changed from ditfrsion controlled process to the direct quenching process -s inJeasing $Eu^{3+}$ oncntration.

  • The release of steroids such as progesterone, testosterone, estrone and estradiol were investigated in two types of block copolymer matrices, which were AB type block copolymer composed of poly(γ-benzyl-L-glutamate)[PBLG] as the A segment and polyoxypropylene[POP] as the B segment and ABA type triblock copolymer composed of the A segment and poly(propylene glycol)[PPG] as the B segment. The release rates of progesterone, estradiol and testosterone through PBLG-POP1 and PBLG-POP2 matrices and those of progesterone, estrone and testosterone through GPG1 of ABA type triblock copolymer were higher in an acidic solution than in a basic one. However, the release rate of estrone through PBLG-POP1 and PBLG-POP2 matrices and that of estradiol through GPG1 of ABA type triblock copolymer were higher in a basic and neutral solutions than in an acidic one. The order of release rate in three different matrices was GPG1 > PBLG-POP1 > PBLG-POP2. The results also showed that the molecular weight of steroids is inversely proportional to the rate of release.

  • In this paper, we implement the development platform of multichannel digital hearing aid algorithm using Simulink provided by Matlab. The digital hearing aids are considered medical devices designed to compensate for hearing loss, they need to be correctly selected, to help a person who has difficulty in hearing. The development platform that implemented in this paper, includes WOLA filterbank for analysis/synthesis of input signal, Wide dynamic range compression for hearing loss compensation and adaptive filter for feedback cancellation. Using the development platform, algorithm parameters for each block can be set depending on the hearing aid user. Thus it is possible to test the algorithm before the machine language. As a result, the time for algorithm development can be saved and performance and computational complexity can be optimized.

  • In preparation of fine alumina powders with use of vesicle, the effect of variation of pH in extravesicular dispersion system to mechanism of precipitation and shape and size distribution of precipitate was investigated. The results of observation by TEM and turbidimeter were obtained as follows. Reaction between aluminum ion and hydroxyl ion to produce precipitate within vesicle was initiated at pH 11.4 and spherical fine precipitates, about 50 nm size, were formed at pH 12.0. About pH 12.3, size of precipitates in vesicle grew twice as great as those formed below pH 12.0 because of the agglomeration and coalescence of vesicleswith time.
