  • Twitter sentiment analysis is to classify a tweet (message) into positive and negative sentiment class. This study deals with SentiWordNet(SWN)-based twitter sentiment analysis. SWN is a sentiment dictionary in which each sense of an English word has a positive and negative sentimental strength. There has been a variety of SWN-based sentiment feature extraction methods which typically first determine the sentiment orientation (SO) of a term in a document and then decide SO of the document from such terms' SO values. For example, for SO of a term, some calculated the maximum or average of sentiment scores of its senses, and others computed the average of the difference of positive and negative sentiment scores. For SO of a document, many researchers employ the maximum or average of terms' SO values. In addition, the above procedure may be applied to the whole set (adjective, adverb, noun, and verb) of parts-of-speech or its subset. This work provides a comparative study on SWN-based sentiment feature extraction schemes with performance evaluation on a well-known twitter dataset.

  • As the global population becomes aging, the demand for health services for the elderly is expected to increase. In particular, The elderly visiting the emergency department sometimes have complex medical, social, and physical problems, such as having a variety of illnesses or complaints of unusual symptoms. The proposed system is designed to predict the mortality of the elderly patients who are over 65 years old and have admitted the emergency department. For mortality prediction, we compare the support vector machines and Feed Forward Neural Network (FFNN) trained with medical data such as age, sex, blood pressure, body temperature, etc. The results of the FFNN with a hidden layer are best in the mortality prediction, and F1 score and the AUC is 52.0%, 88.6% respectively. If we improve the performance of the proposed system by extracting better medical features, we will be able to provide better medical services through an effective and quick allocation of medical resources for the elderly patients visiting the emergency department.

  • Semantic information and features are very important for Semantic Role Labeling(SRL) though many SRL systems based on machine learning mainly adopt lexical and syntactic features. Previous SRL research based on semantic information is very few because using semantic information is very restricted. We proposed the SRL system which adopts semantic information, such as named entity, word sense disambiguation, filtering adjunct role based on sense, synonym cluster, frame extension based on synonym dictionary and joint rule of syntactic-semantic information, and modified verb-specific numbered roles, etc. According to our experimentations, the proposed present method outperforms those of lexical-syntactic based research works by about 3.77 (Korean Propbank) to 8.05 (Exobrain Corpus) F1-scores.

  • At one time, the anomaly detection sector dominated the method of determining whether there was an abnormality based on the statistics derived from specific data. This methodology was possible because the dimension of the data was simple in the past, so the classical statistical method could work effectively. However, as the characteristics of data have changed complexly in the era of big data, it has become more difficult to accurately analyze and predict the data that occurs throughout the industry in the conventional way. Therefore, SVM and Decision Tree based supervised learning algorithms were used. However, there is peculiarity that supervised learning based model can only accurately predict the test data, when the number of classes is equal to the number of normal classes and most of the data generated in the industry has unbalanced data class. Therefore, the predicted results are not always valid when supervised learning model is applied. In order to overcome these drawbacks, many studies now use the unsupervised learning-based model that is not influenced by class distribution, such as autoencoder or generative adversarial networks. In this paper, we propose a method to detect anomalies using generative adversarial networks. AnoGAN, introduced in the study of Thomas et al (2017), is a classification model that performs abnormal detection of medical images. It was composed of a Convolution Neural Net and was used in the field of detection. On the other hand, sequencing data abnormality detection using generative adversarial network is a lack of research papers compared to image data. Of course, in Li et al (2018), a study by Li et al (LSTM), a type of recurrent neural network, has proposed a model to classify the abnormities of numerical sequence data, but it has not been used for categorical sequence data, as well as feature matching method applied by salans et al.(2016). So it suggests that there are a number of studies to be tried on in the ideal classification of sequence data through a generative adversarial Network. In order to learn the sequence data, the structure of the generative adversarial networks is composed of LSTM, and the 2 stacked-LSTM of the generator is composed of 32-dim hidden unit layers and 64-dim hidden unit layers. The LSTM of the discriminator consists of 64-dim hidden unit layer were used. In the process of deriving abnormal scores from existing paper of Anomaly Detection for Sequence data, entropy values of probability of actual data are used in the process of deriving abnormal scores. but in this paper, as mentioned earlier, abnormal scores have been derived by using feature matching techniques. In addition, the process of optimizing latent variables was designed with LSTM to improve model performance. The modified form of generative adversarial model was more accurate in all experiments than the autoencoder in terms of precision and was approximately 7% higher in accuracy. In terms of Robustness, Generative adversarial networks also performed better than autoencoder. Because generative adversarial networks can learn data distribution from real categorical sequence data, Unaffected by a single normal data. But autoencoder is not. Result of Robustness test showed that he accuracy of the autocoder was 92%, the accuracy of the hostile neural network was 96%, and in terms of sensitivity, the autocoder was 40% and the hostile neural network was 51%. In this paper, experiments have also been conducted to show how much performance changes due to differences in the optimization structure of potential variables. As a result, the level of 1% was improved in terms of sensitivity. These results suggest that it presented a new perspective on optimizing latent variable that were relatively insignificant.

  • A shallow semantic parsing system analyzes the relationship that a syntactic constituent of the sentence has with a predicate. It identifies semantic arguments representing agent, patient, instrument, etc. of the predicate. In this study, we propose a two-phase shallow semantic parsing model which consists of the identification phase and the classification phase. We first find the boundary of semantic arguments from partial syntactic parsing results, and then assign appropriate semantic roles to the identified semantic arguments. By taking the sequential two-phase approach, we can alleviate the unbalanced class distribution problem, and select the features appropriate for each task. Experiments show the relative contribution of each phase on the test data.

  • In this paper, we attempted to extract binary relations between terminologies using composite kernels consisting of convolution parse tree kernels and WordNet verb synset vector kernels which explain the semantic relationships between two entities in a sentence. In order to evaluate the performance of our system, we used three domain specific test collections. The experimental results demonstrate the superiority of our system in all the targeted collection. Especially, the increase in the effectiveness on KREC 2008, 8% in F1, shows that the core contexts around the entities play an important role in boosting the entire performance of relation extraction.

  • Sentiment analysis, which is one of the text mining techniques, is a method for extracting subjective content embedded in text documents. Recently, the sentiment analysis methods have been widely used in many fields. As good examples, data-driven surveys are based on analyzing the subjectivity of text data posted by users and market researches are conducted by analyzing users' review posts to quantify users' reputation on a target product. The basic method of sentiment analysis is to use sentiment dictionary (or lexicon), a list of sentiment vocabularies with positive, neutral, or negative semantics. In general, the meaning of many sentiment words is likely to be different across domains. For example, a sentiment word, 'sad' indicates negative meaning in many fields but a movie. In order to perform accurate sentiment analysis, we need to build the sentiment dictionary for a given domain. However, such a method of building the sentiment lexicon is time-consuming and various sentiment vocabularies are not included without the use of general-purpose sentiment lexicon. In order to address this problem, several studies have been carried out to construct the sentiment lexicon suitable for a specific domain based on 'OPEN HANGUL' and 'SentiWordNet', which are general-purpose sentiment lexicons. However, OPEN HANGUL is no longer being serviced and SentiWordNet does not work well because of language difference in the process of converting Korean word into English word. There are restrictions on the use of such general-purpose sentiment lexicons as seed data for building the sentiment lexicon for a specific domain. In this article, we construct 'KNU Korean Sentiment Lexicon (KNU-KSL)', a new general-purpose Korean sentiment dictionary that is more advanced than existing general-purpose lexicons. The proposed dictionary, which is a list of domain-independent sentiment words such as 'thank you', 'worthy', and 'impressed', is built to quickly construct the sentiment dictionary for a target domain. Especially, it constructs sentiment vocabularies by analyzing the glosses contained in Standard Korean Language Dictionary (SKLD) by the following procedures: First, we propose a sentiment classification model based on Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM). Second, the proposed deep learning model automatically classifies each of glosses to either positive or negative meaning. Third, positive words and phrases are extracted from the glosses classified as positive meaning, while negative words and phrases are extracted from the glosses classified as negative meaning. Our experimental results show that the average accuracy of the proposed sentiment classification model is up to 89.45%. In addition, the sentiment dictionary is more extended using various external sources including SentiWordNet, SenticNet, Emotional Verbs, and Sentiment Lexicon 0603. Furthermore, we add sentiment information about frequently used coined words and emoticons that are used mainly on the Web. The KNU-KSL contains a total of 14,843 sentiment vocabularies, each of which is one of 1-grams, 2-grams, phrases, and sentence patterns. Unlike existing sentiment dictionaries, it is composed of words that are not affected by particular domains. The recent trend on sentiment analysis is to use deep learning technique without sentiment dictionaries. The importance of developing sentiment dictionaries is declined gradually. However, one of recent studies shows that the words in the sentiment dictionary can be used as features of deep learning models, resulting in the sentiment analysis performed with higher accuracy (Teng, Z., 2016). This result indicates that the sentiment dictionary is used not only for sentiment analysis but also as features of deep learning models for improving accuracy. The proposed dictionary can be used as a basic data for constructing the sentiment lexicon of a particular domain and as features of deep learning models. It is also useful to automatically and quickly build large training sets for deep learning models.
