  • This study analyzed the characteristics of National Science Curricula in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore, and Korea with respect to core competencies. In the case of overseas countries, literature review on their curricula was conducted, and four common features were extracted: 'association of cross-curricular competencies with science-specific competencies', 'a combination of science contents and scientific practices', 'an emphasis on communication skills', and 'representation of an achievement level of competency'. In addition, the common core competencies of science education were 'critical thinking', 'creative thinking', 'problem solving', 'inquiry skills', 'communication skills', 'cultural literacy', 'ability to integrate discipline', 'application skills', and 'personal/social competency'. In relation to these features, this study also investigated Korean science teachers' perceptions of core competencies in science education. A survey was conducted on 135 teachers in elementary, middle, and high school in Korea. Teachers were not well aware of what core competencies are, and after introduction, they thought that they wanted to and needed to teach core competencies to their students. Teachers claimed that critical core competencies in science education are 'creative thinking', 'problem solving', and 'inquiry skills'. Teachers thought that core competencies-based science class would help develop students' scientific literacy and communication skills. However, they have difficulties in conducting core competencies-based science class because they are not familiar with how to conduct the class and they expect that it will take a long time to prepare such a class.

The counselors were analyzed to have tried the following intervention strategies. They attempted the following six strategies: Helping emotional differentiation by searching for unresolved emotional problems, dealing with undifferentiation due to family projection process and love triangle, dealing with multi-generational transfer process of the original family relationship patterns and coping mechanism, shedding lihgt on ineffectiveness of inconsistent communication due to emotional oppression applying a communication model of MRI, switching client's awareness through reorganization, suggesting a way of communication that leads to real self. Such counselors' attempts resulted in positive changes and treatment effects were found to include first, cognitive insights and motivation for change, second, improved communication skills and third, anxiety reduction and self-differentiation. • This study aims to prove the value of convergence-based mobile English curriculum for English education prior to its practical use. This is deferent from the existing studies in developing and studying a curriculum using an English program loaded in mobile to make an effective English learning. In order to find out how well teachers are aware of this curriculum, we performed qualitative researches. Some English teachers asked for feedback about the curriculum gave us positive feedback in most areas such as learning authentic English, repetition effects, cooperative learning, self-efficacy experience, and so on. As a negative feedback, they were afraid of students' easy and free attitudes because of the new learning environments. This problem can be solved by the very close communications between teacher and student through on and off line. Next time applying this curriculum to the field and analyzing will be expected.

  • Studies have found that people with higher social status pay little attention to other people's emotions and facial expressions. However, only a few studies have made similar observations on adolescents with high cyberspace social status. Therefore, this study sought to identify how adolescents with different online game character social statuses interpreted the smile emoticons in negative and positive situations, that is, did they perceive the emoticon to be positive (smile, encouragement, and consolation) or negative (derision, ridicule, and sarcasm). In Experiment 1, the participants were separated into three groups; those who had a lower than global average online game character status, those who had the same as the global average, and those who had higher than the global average. The participants were then asked to judge the meaning of the smile emoticon received in various positive or negative situations. In Experiment 2, the game character levels of the participants were set to be either higher or lower than the others' characters, and they were again asked to judge the meaning of the smile emoticon received in the positive or negative situations. In Experiment 3, the participants were separated into four groups; lower level than the average game character status (no information on the level of acquaintance's game character), lower than the average but higher than the character of the other, higher than the average status (no information on the other's character level), and higher than the average but lower than the character of the other, and asked to judge the meaning of the smile emoticon in positive or negative situations. It was found that when participants had a lower-level character compared to the average, had a lower-level character than the other, and had higher than the average but lower than the other's character, they interpreted the smile emoticon as derision, ridicule, or sarcasm. However, participants with higher level characters, higher than that of the other, and lower than the average but higher than the other interpreted the emoticon as a smile or consolation. This study was significant because it demonstrated the impact of an adolescent's social cyberspace status on their online communication.

  • The purpose of this study is to look for the factors that facilitate knowledge sharing among public official in the department of social welfare, and to find whether the intention to share knowledge influences the knowledge sharing. In order to accomplish the purpose of the research model, the independent variables were trust, openness in communication, anticipated reciprocal relationship, and efficacy. The intervening variable was intention to share knowledge, and the dependent variable was knowledge sharing. The significant finding that came out of this research model is that trust, anticipated reciprocal relationship and efficacy positively influenced the intention to share knowledge. Efficacy positively affected knowledge sharing. Intention to share knowledge had a significant influence on the knowledge sharing. According to the results of this study, in order to improve effective knowledge sharing in the public sector or in the private sector, we suggested that social workers have to consider why they should share knowledge in the social welfare organization. Social workers in the public sector or in the private sector must develop ways to share the knowledge possessed within the organization with the people who need that knowledge.
