  • This study was conducted to identify the factors affecting the communication competency in nursing students. Method: The subjects of this study were 171 nursing students from two universities located in G and P cities. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and Multiple Regression Analysis. Results: As a result of multiple regression analysis, the significant predictors of communication competency of nursing students were interpersonal relationships(β=.404, p<.001) and positive thinking(β=.274, p=.014). Communication competency was explained 47.9% of variance in interpersonal relationship and positive thinking. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that interpersonal relationship and positive thinking in nursing students were the influential factor on communication competency. • The purpose of this study was to explore how overly positive self-estimations in peer relationships relate to subjective well-being and to the occurrence of interpersonal behaviors supporting basic psychological needs among elementary school students. This study tested the optimal margin hypothesis of positive illusion by examining the curvilinear relationship between these variables. The sample consisted of 346 fifth and sixth grade students. The self-criterion residual method was used to derive self-estimation bias scores by regressing the real peer relations index (i.e., In-degree) on their perceived peer relationship qualities. The results showed that girls more strongly overestimated the quality of their peer relationships than boys. Self-estimation biases had a positive curvilinear relationship with negative affects and a negative curvilinear relationship with relatedness needs supporting interpersonal behaviors. These results supported the existence of the optimal margin of positive illusion because overestimations of the quality of peer relationships were associated with lower levels of negative affects and relatedness needs-supporting interpersonal behaviors, though these benefits flattened out and no further benefit was observed after an optimal level of overestimation. However, self-estimation bias was linearly associated with positive affect, autonomy needs-supporting interpersonal behaviors, and competence needs-supporting interpersonal behaviors. These results indicated that optimal margin hypothesis was not supported for all outcome variables.

  • This study examined the relationship between spirituality, social support, and interpersonal relationships in the workplace of art psychotherapists. The subjects were 114 art psychotherapists in the city of U. Frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed using the SPSS 22.0 program. First, regarding the effects of work spirituality of art psychotherapists on interpersonal relationships, the sub-factors of workplace spirituality (vocational consciousness, inner consciousness, and empathy consciousness) had a positive effect on interpersonal relationships. On the other hand, community consciousness and transcendence consciousness, which are sub-factors of workplace spirituality, do not appear to have a significant effect on interpersonal relationships. Second, regarding the effects of social support of art psychotherapists on interpersonal relations, the sub-factors of social support, such as evaluative support and material support, had a positive effect on interpersonal relationships. On the other hand, emotional support and informational support did not significantly affect interpersonal relationships. This means that higher vocational consciousness, inner consciousness, empathy consciousness, evaluative support, and material support factors of an artistic psychotherapist are conducive to better interpersonal relationships. This study provides basic data for preparing a plan to promote positive interpersonal relations among art psychotherapists.

  • All human being can not exist by oneself That is, all human being depend on intimate attachment for their survival. Physical and psychological powers are prerequisites fir one's survival and these serve important functions hi interpersonal relationships. There are two kinds of powers. One is positive power which helps one survive effectively. Another one is negative power which disturbs one's effective survival. In this paper, the author reviewed the precept of 'trust' which is described in 'Bible' and oriental classical books such as 'The Analects of Confuicus' and 'Tao Te Ching' etc. and tried to integrate this precept with the importance in everyday life, 'How to communicate' is closely related to 'trust' and one's speech is closely related to one's thinking or emotion. Thus in order to keep trustful communication, one has to introspect oneself to understand one's own emotional reaction.

  • Positive affect has beneficial consequences in various life domains including social relational aspect. This study proposes that 'joy,' a highly arousing positive social emotion, promotes emotionally supportive reactions during a social interaction. In Study 1, after controlling for confounding personality characteristics (e.g., extraversion, agreeableness, adult attachment) and cognitive variables (e.g., empathy, self-esteem), positive affect predicted the amount of emotional support and enthusiasm one showed to a person who was describing a positive experience. The arousal dimension of positive emotion appeared to be the key in creating this outcome. Study 2 found that people were most likely to react in supportive ways (e.g., more laughing, emotion sharing, and active-constructive responses) to other's conversation after viewing a joy-inducing (rather than pride, awe, calm) film clip. These results partly explain why happy people are socially popular and suggest that one of the central functions of "joy" is to promote social bonding with others.
