An Effect of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ on the Reaction between Molten Converter Slag and CaO pellet (용융전로(熔融轉爐)슬래그와 CaO펠렛의 상호반응(相互反應)에 미치는 $Al_{2}O_{3}$의 영향(影響))

  • As a basic study on the conversion of molten converter slag to the ordinary portland cement, the effects of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ addition on the interface reaction between solid CaO and molten converter slag has been studied. Alumina added converter slag whose basicity was controlled to 1 and 2 was melted and hold for 30 minutes in MgO crucible at $1500^{\circ}C$. Then sintered CaO pellet heated at the same temperature was dipped into the molten slag and held for 30minutes. After the reaction, the crucible was cooled in air and the specimen was cut off to the horizontal direction of the crucible. The dissolution rate of CaO pellet with the addition of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ was measured by the change of the radius or sintered CaO pellet and the interface layer was observed by SEM/EDX. As a result. At the basicity 2 slag, thickness of created $C_{3}S$ layer increased 3.5 times and quantity of $C_{6}AF_{2}\;or\;C_{4}AF$ phase increase 2 times than baisicy 1 slag.

Texture Transformations and Its Role on the Yield Strength of ($\alpha$+$\beta$) Heat Treated Zircaloy-4 (($\alpha$+$\beta$) 열처리된 지르칼로이-4에서 집합조직의 변화와 그 조직이 항복 강도에 미치는 영향)

  • The texture changes and their effect on the 0.2% yield strength of Zircaloy-4 sheet were examined after quenched from the ($\alpha$+$\beta$) phase temperature. When the prior ($\alpha$+$\beta$) gram size was slightly larger than that of the $\alpha$-annealed, the observed texture was similar to the $\alpha$-annealed texture having an ideal orientation of the (0001) basal pole at 30$^{\circ}$away from the normal direction toward the transverse direction. When the prior ($\alpha$+$\beta$) grain size was twice as large as that of the $\alpha$-annealed, the location of maximum basal pole intensity was distributed between the transverse and the rolling direction making an angle 15$^{\circ}$from the normal direction, and the observed texture became isotropic. It was found that the Kearns texture parameter, fr, in the rolling direction increased steadily, and fr in the transverse direction increased slightly, while fr in the the normal direction decreased with increasing heat treatment time. With a small increase in fr, the 0.2% yield strength increased drastically. The influence of texture was analyzed by deriving the Schmid orientation factors and the resolved shear stresses for the deformation systems. It was found that the large increase in the 0.2% yield strength was attributed mainly to the microstructural changes and partly to the texture changes by the ($\alpha$+$\beta$) heat treatment.

  • Synthesis and high temperature phase stability of $_{1+x}$ Co$_{y}$ Mn$_{2-y}$ $O_4$(0$\leq$x$\leq$0.2,y=0,1/9,1/6) spinel, both the excess lithium and cobalt added, have been studied. The spinel was prepared by oxalate precipitation method as the wet chemical process. Oxalate derived spinel was synthesized by heating of precipitates at temperature lower than $600^{\circ}C$. As a result of the TG-DTA and XRD analysis of prepared and quenched powders, it was found that reversible phase transitions started at temperatures $T_1$, $T_2$$T_{2'}$. The transitions involved weight (oxygen) loss and gain during heating and cooling. The effects of Li excess and Co doping on the spinel lattice constant, phase stability and transition temperatures of the prepared powders are investigated. This study would provide important data for determining the spinel preparation process such as synthesis temperature and cooling speed.

  • The B1914 Ni-base superalloy was manufactured according to crystal structures of poly-, directionally solidified- and single crystals. We observe deformation as type of different crystal structure from room to high temperature. Specimens are controled by cooling rate and thermal gradient and then heat treatment in vacuum and then cooling with Ar gas. Different crystal structure has different stress-strain characteristic. At $600^{\circ}C$, yield strength and ultimate strength is increased single-, directionally solidified- and poly crystals in order.

  • 단련용 다결정 Ni기 초내열합금은 우수한 가공성, 내산화성, 고온특성 등으로 가스터빈 연소기, 디스크, 증기발생기 전열관 등 발전용 고온부품 소재에 널리 적용되고 있다. 최근 발전설비의 고효율화를 꾀하기 위해 작동 온도를 현격히 증가시키는 기술방향으로 발전하고 있고, 소재측면에서는 기존의 초내열합금 대비 고기능성을 확보할 수 있는 차세대 Ni기 초내열합금 개발이 유럽, 미국, 일본, 중국 등을 중심으로 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 소재의 고온강도 (온도수용성)를 향상시키기 위해서는 통상 규칙격자 금속간화합물인 $Ni_3(Al,Ti)-{\gamma}'$상의 분율을 증가시킬 수 있지만, ${\gamma}'$상분율이 증가할 경우 용접 및 후열처리 동안 용접열영향부 (HAZ)에서 액화균열이 발생할 가능성이 높아진다. 결정립계를 따라 발생하는 HAZ 액화균열은 입계특성에 의해 크게 영향을 받을 것으로 판단된다. 한편, 본 연구자들은 최근 입계 serration 현상을 단련용 합금에 도입시키는 특별한 열처리를 이론적 접근법을 통해 개발하였다. 형성된 파형입계는 결정학적인 관점에서 조밀 {111} 입계면을 갖도록 분해 (dissociation)되어 낮은 계면에너지를 갖게 됨을 확인하였으며, 입계형상 변화뿐만 아니라 탄화물 특성변화까지 유도하여 크리프 수명을 기존대비 약 40% 정도 향상시킴을 확인하였다. 이러한 직선형 입계 대비 'special boundary'로 간주되는 파형입계가 도입될 경우, HAZ 결정립크기 변화 및 액화거동에 미치는 영향을 고찰하고, 아울러 입계특성 제어가 용접성/용접부 품질 향상에 기여할 수 있는 가능성도 토의하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 재현 HAZ 열사이클 시험을 통해 미세구조를 정량적으로 비교하였다. 상대적으로 입계구조가 안정된 파형입계의 이동속도가 高계면 에너지를 갖는 직선형 입계보다 느려 HAZ 결정립 성장이 효과적으로 억제됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 입계 액화거동을 살펴보면, 두 시편 모두 $M_{23}C_6$, MC 등 입계탄화물 계면이 빠른 승온중 액화반응 (constitutional liquation)에 의해 입계가 액화되었으며, 이후 급냉에 의해 입계에 액상막이 존재한 흔적이 발견되었다. 최고온도별로 입계액화 폭/비율을 정량적으로 비교한 결과, 파형입계가 직선입계 대비 대체로 낮음을 확인할 수 있었으며, 때때로 액화되지 않고 잔존하는 입계 탄화물이 관찰되었다. 재현 HAZ 미세조직을 통해 Hot ductility 시험 결과를 유추하자면, 파형입계가 직선입계 보다 좁은 취성온도영역 (Brittle Temperature Range)을 나타낼 것으로 예상되어, 입계특성제어에 의해 Ni기 초내열합금의 용접성을 향상 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • 터빈에서 핵심부품인 로터는 블레이드를 원심 운동시키는 대형 단조강이며, 고압의 증기 조건에서 고속회전하며 고온에서 운전과 저온에서 과속시험 동안 높은 원심력을 받는다. 또한 기동/정지 천이 동안 열응력을 받기 때문에, 이러한 운전조건에 부합되는 소재로서는 높은 Creep 강도 및 피로강도를 가지는 CrMoV type의 강종이 사용되어져 왔다. 발전소의 대용량화 및 고온화에 따라 종래의 증기조건에서 사용되어져 왔던 1%CrMoV강은 내산화성 및 내부식성이 문제가 되어 더 이상 사용이 불가하며, 고온/고압하에서도 우수한 소재 특성을 가지는 12%Cr강의 사용이 필수적이다. 그러나 12%Cr강으로 제작되는 로타는 Cr 양이 높기 때문에 저널부에 Galling 또는 Scuffing 이라 불리는 부적절한 마모현상과 사용 중 소착이 발생하기 쉬운 단점이 있기 때문에, 저널부에 Cr 함유량 2~3% 이하의 저합금강을 오버레이 용접하여 육성하는 일체형 가공구조의 로타 저널부가 주목되어 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Large scale 로타가 용접 도중 급열 및 급냉이 되지 않으면서 균일한 온도로 일정 시간 유지할 수 있는 열관리 장치 개발, 최적 오버레이 용접조건 선정 및 용접부 건전성 시험 평가를 통하여 12%Cr 로타 저널부의 최적 오버레이 용접공정을 확립하고자 하였다. 용접 열관리 장치는 전기저항 가열방식을 적용하고 있으며 용접이 최종 완료되기 전까지 로타 제품 전체는 $93^{\circ}C$이상의 온도로 유지 되어져야 하며, 규정 용접후열처리 온도는 $650^{\circ}C{\pm}14^{\circ}C$ 이다. 또한 로타 오버레이 용접은 모재 Set up $\Rightarrow$ 용접예열 $\Rightarrow$ GTA용접 $\Rightarrow$ SA용접 $\Rightarrow$ 용접후열(Post heating) $\Rightarrow$ 용접후열처리(PWHT) $\Rightarrow$ 정삭가공 $\Rightarrow$ NDE(UT) 순으로 수행 되어진다 실제 로타의 1/3 Scale로 시험편을 제작하여, 오버레이 mockup 시험을 수행한 후 화학성분, 경도 분포, 인장강도, 충격인성 및 굽힘시험을 수행한 결과, 오버레이 용접에서 요구되어지는 용접 물성값을 만족하는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 균열 등의 선형 결함이나 기공, 슬라그 혼입과 같은 결함은 관찰되지 않았으며, 용접 시 아크의 안정성과 슬라그의 박리성은 양호하였으며 비드의 외관도 미려하여 용접 작업성도 양호하였다.

Fluid Inclusion Study of the Samcheonpo Amethyst Deposit of Kyongsangnamdo, Korea (경상남도 삼천포 광산의 자수정에 대한 유체포유물 특성)

  • Fluid inclusions in amethyst from the Samcheonpo amethyst deposit of the Waryongsan area, Kyongnam generally grouped into four different types: Type I (liquid-rich and $10{\sim}23wt%$ NaCl, $Th=289{\sim}359^{\circ}C$), Type II (vapor-rich and $2{\sim}10wt%$ NaCl, $Th=304{\sim}365^{\circ}C;$), Type III (halite-bearing, $31{\sim}54wt%$ NaCl, $Th=259{\sim}510^{\circ}C;$), and Type IV ($CO_{2}-bearing\;9{\sim}13wt%\;NaCl,\;126{\sim}277^{\circ}$). Type I, II, and III inclusions are confined in the lower part of the amethyst and Type IV in the upper, which indicates significant hydrothermal activity during the earliest stage of the amethyst growth or the solidus condition of granitic rocks. The earliest fluid exsolved from the crystallizing granitic magma formed Type IIIa which is spatially associated with silicate melt inclusions. The homogenization behavior of Type IIIa inclusions by dissolution of the halite crystal after the bubble disappearance indicates that Type IIIa inclusions were trapped at some relatively elevated pressure. Exsolution of Type IIIb, I, II forming fluids with gradual decrease in their salinity was followed. The last fluid was $CO_{2}-bearing$ fluid (Type IV), which is assumed to be derived by decarbonization reactions with the surrounding sedimentary rocks. It suggests that the fine-grained granitic rocks containing the Samcheonpo amethyst crystallized at the sub-solvus condition saturated with water and exsolved abundant water.

The Long-term Durability Evaluation of PC Box for Near-surface Transit System manufactured by Microwave Heat curing (마이크로웨이브 발열양생에 의해 제작된 저심도 철도시스템용 PC BOX의 장기내구성 평가)

  • This study examined the long-term durability of PC boxes, which was manufactured by low-carbon eco-friendly concrete using an alternative binder to cement and alternative fine aggregate to sand and microwave heat curing system to reduce the construction cost of a near-surface transit system. Based on the test results, the initial compressive strength of microwave heat cured concrete was higher than that of the steam cured concrete, but those were similar in the long-term age. In addition, there was no significant difference between the two curing conditions in the chemical resistance and the freeze-thawing resistance, and the chloride ion penetration level of the concrete cured by two methods was very low. Therefore, low-carbon eco-friendly concrete and microwave heat curing technology are expected to contribute to the economic construction of a near-surface transit system, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions and environmental impact.

Production of Foamed Glass by Using Hydrolysis of Waste Glass(III) - Heat Treatment for Stabilization and Scale-up Test - (폐유리의 가수분해 반응에 의한 발포유리의 제조(III) - 안정화 열처리공정 및 Scale-up Test -)

  • Heat treatment condition for the stabilization of foamed glass block through the foaming process of the hydrolized waste glass was investigated and scale-up test for the manufacturing of foamed glass was also attempted for the actual foaming process. Proper heat treatment condition was quenching from the foaming temperature to $550{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ for stabilization, and then annealing from stabilization temperature to $200^{\circ}C$ and holding up at $200^{\circ}C$ for removal thermal stress, and then annealing to the room temperature with cooling speed of $0.3^{\circ}C/min$. Through this heat treatment conditions, foamed glass block with size of $250mm{\times}250mm{\times}90mm$ was produced successfully. The properties of this foamed glass block showed density of $0.28{\pm}0.06g/cm^3$, thermal conductivity of $0.048{\pm}0.005kcal/hm^{\circ}C$, moisture absorption of $0.5{\pm}0.09vol%$, linear expansion coefficient of $(8.6{\pm}0.2){\times}10^{-6}m/m^{\circ}C$($400^{\circ}C$), flexural strength of $15.0{\pm}0.6kg/cm^2$, and compression strength of $39.5{\pm}0.6kg/cm^2$.

  • Recently Zr-based $AB_2$ type hydrogen absorbing alloy has received much attention as a negative electrode material for the Ni-MH batteries because of its high capacity. In this study $ZrV_{0.1}Mn_{0.7}Ni_{1.2}$ alloy was chosen and the effects of heat treatment and a partial substitution of the Mo in Mn site on the various electrode properties were investigated. The alloys was prepared by arc melting (as-cast sample). Some of them were heat treated at $1,100^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours. After this they were differentiated by the different cooling rates of slow cooling and quenching. Various electrode characteristics such as activation process, high rate dischargeability and self discharge characteristic were investigated with the three types of electrodes. It was found that heat treated alloys resulted in an increase in plateau flatness of P-C isotherms however both discharge capacity and high rate capability were decreased. And the partial substitution of Mo for Mn in $ZrV_{0.1}Mn_{0.7}Ni_{1.2}$ alloy improved the self-discharge characteristic without the loss of discharge capacity (300mAh/g).
