Fundamental Characteristics of Isometric Muscle Force Potentiation induced by Surface Stimulation in FES (기능적 표면 전기자극에 의해 유발되는 등척성 근력강화현상의 기초적 특성)

  • A computer model of the musculoskelotal system that provides accurate prediction of muscle force and body movement trom the stimulation input is desired for the effective control system design in FES. This paper aims to investigate the fundamental properties of the gradual muscle force potentiation that was not included in the previous muscle models, for future development of a model that provides vetter prediction of FES-induced muscle force and body movement. Specifically, hou the muscle length was investigated. The experimental results showed that both the force increment ratio and the time-to-peak during electrical stimulation decreased with stimulatino frequency. When the muscle potentiation state was saturated by preceding stimulation. the force did not increase any more during additive stimulation. Muscle length significantly affected the force potentiation in such a way that the force increment ratio decreased with muscle length. A new model of the muscle potentiation based on these results is desired in the future.

The Effects of Lower Extremity Strengthening Program on Balance, Gait and Upper Limb Function in Patients with Stroke (뇌졸중 환자에게 하지 근력강화 프로그램이 균형, 보행과 상지 기능에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of lower extremity strengthening program on balance, gait and upper limb function in patients with stroke. This study was a hospital-based with Central nerve system lesion patients, randomized controlled trial with a blinded assessor. Twenty four hemiparetic stroke patients were divided into two groups: a Lower extremity strengthening program group (LESPG)(n=12) and a Treadmill training group (TTG)(n=12). The LESPG performed a Lower extremity strengthening program on the affected side. The TTG exercised on a treadmill for 30 minutes a day. Assessment tools included the Timed Up and Go test (TUG), the Functional Gait Assessment (FGA) and the Manual Function Test (MFT). There was a significant difference in TUG, FGA, and MFT scores between the two groups in the LESPG for the balance, gait, and upper limb function than for the TTG(p<.01). Results of the present study indicated that the effect of lower extremity strengthening program for 4 weeks had an effect on balance, gait and upper limb function of hemiplegic patients after stroke.

  • 최근 주 5일제 근무 실행과 사회복지의 확산, 여가 선용에 대한 욕구와 더불어 건강증진에 대한 싸이클이 주목을 받고 있음. 싸이클웨어(Cycle Wear)에 요구되는 개발요소는 경기력 향상을 위한 기능적 요소와 패션성을 부여하는 심미적 요소로 크게 구분 가능하며 해외에서는 기능성과 패션성이 적절하게 조화를 이룬 제품을 계속 출시되고 있음. 본 연구에서는 운동 시 발생하는 열을 흡한속건 기능으로 효과적으로 발산하고 동절기에는 보온 기능을 갖는 세섬도 하이멀티 OY형 이형단면사 및 잠재권축사를 이용한 고신축 환편 및 경편물 개발하고, 극한환경에서도 고견뢰도를 유지할 수 있는 섬유의 염색법 및 기능성 발현 가공법의 적용, 내마모성과 필링이 우수한 아라미드+나일론 복합가공사 신축직물 제직 및 염색가공 공정 개발을 통해 기능성을 발현할 수 있는 싸이클 웨어 원단을 개발하였음. 또한 종래 Compression Wear에만 적용하던 테이핑 요법을 응용한 근력강화형 싸이클웨어 패턴과 디자인 개발을 통해 다양한 형태의 근력강화형 싸이클웨어를 개발하였으며, 무산소파워, 유산소파워, 젖산분석, EMG 분석 및 에너지 대사분석 등의 운동능력 성능평가를 통해 테이핑 요법이 적용된 싸이클웨어의 근력강화 효과를 확인하였음. 이와 같이 개발된 싸이클웨어는 무산소파워, 유산소파워, EMG 분석에서 각각 근력강화 효과를 보였으며, 피로물질인 젖산의 경우는 발생의 정도가 낮게 나타났음. 또한 여성에 비해 남성의 근력강화 효과가 크게 나타나는 경향을 보였음.

The Impact of Abdominal Muscle Strengthening Exercises, Back Muscle Stretching and Multi-Training on the Lumbar Flexibility of 20s Adults (복부근력강화운동, 배부근 스트레칭 및 복합운동이 20대 성인의 허리 유연성에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify the effect and difference of abdominal muscle strengthening exercise, back muscle stretching and multi-training on the lumbar flexibility of 20s adults. Method : The abdominal muscle strengthening exercise, back muscle stretching and multi-training were conducted 9 times targeting 21 subjects who attended K University from 2013 May 29 to June 14. Sit and Reach Tests were conducted 2 times(before and after exercise program) for flexibility test and measured data were processed with SPSS program WIN 12.0K. By the Wilcoxon signed rank test, the effectiveness of exercises are verified. By the Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney test, the difference of effectiveness among the exercise groups are verified. Result : The results of this study were summerized below 1. Before and after exercise, in abdominal muscle strengthening exercise group, back muscle stretching group and multi-training group are showed statistically significant differences(p<.05), 2. There were statistically significant difference in the improvement of the flexibility between each group(p>.05). Conclusion : These data suggests that all of the 3 exercise programs are brought positive influences on the improvement of flexibility, and abdominal muscle strengthening exercises and flexibility multi-training are effective on the flexibility more than, back muscle stretching in 20s adults.

Effect of Back-Strengthening Exercise Program in Rural Community-Dwelling Women with Mild Low Back Pain (허리통증이 있는 농촌지역 여성들에 대한 허리 강화 운동 프로그램의 효과)

  • 목적: 농촌 지역사회 기반의 허리 근력 강화 운동 프로그램이 운동과 허리 건강에 대한 개인의 태도 및 믿음에 미치는 효과를 평가하고자 하였다. 방법: 강원도 지역 네 개의 농촌 마을에서 가벼운 허리 통증이 있는 79명의 여성 자원자(42-76세)들을 운동군(n=40)과 대조군(n=39)으로 마을단위로 배정하였다. 운동군에서는 지역사회 기반의 허리강화 운동 프로그램(주당 3회, 8주간)이 시행되었고 대조군에는 일반적인 건강 관리에 대한 강의가 제공되었다. 등척성 허리 신전 근력과 허리 통증 관련 장애, 운동에 대한 태도, 허리 질환에 대한 위협인지, 운동의 자기 효능감을 중재전과 중재후 1, 2개월째 측정하였다. 결과: 운동군에서 2개월후 허리 신전근력은 뚜렷이 증가하였으며 허리 통증 관련 장애도 유의미하게 감소하였다. 운동에 대한 태도와 허리 질환에 대한 위협 인지는 운동군에서 증가하였으나 대조군에서는 변화가 없었다. 운동의 자기효능감은 양군에서 같이 증가하였으나 운동군에서 그 정도가 더 뚜렷했다. 결론: 농촌 지역 여성들을 대상으로 한 허리 근력 강화 운동 프로그램은 허리 통증으로 인한 장애를 감소시켰고 운동의 효과에 대한 태도와 믿음을 변화시켰다.

Effects of hip joint strengthening on muscle strength, Y-balance and low extremity injury criterion in athletics (엉덩관절 강화 운동이 운동선수의 근력, 동적자세조절 및 하체 손상 준거에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 6 weeks hip joint strengthen on muscle strength, dynamic posture control and low extremity injury criterion. Twenty athletics were divided into two groups, the exercise group was conducted for three times a week, 60 minutes, and six weeks. The dependent variables of this study were flexibility, muscular strength, dynamic posture control, and lower body injury criterion. The results of this study showed that the flexibility was not significant, but muscle strength was significant difference. The dynamic posture control was significantly effective in the left posterolateral and posteromedial. In addition, total score was significantly exercise effect, and there was no difference between left and right leg length. In conclusion, hip joint strengthen increased muscle strength and dynamic posture control, and decreased the concern of low extremity injury criterion.

  • This study was to examine the effect of lower extremity muscle strengthening exercise on balance and fall efficacy in middle older adults women. This study was conducted with one group pre-test and post-test design. A total of 34 older adults women participated in 7 weeks of intervention. Data were analyzed as SPSS ver. 21.0 using descriptive statistics and paired t-test. Right leg balance(t=6.09, p<.001), left leg balance(t=6.76, p<.001), and fall efficacy(t=6.81, p<.001) were significantly increased. Dynamic balance(t= -4.68, p=.001) was significantly decreased. This study found that lower extremity muscle strengthening exercise program could be a useful health promotion method.

Effectiveness of virtual reality-based oral muscle strength training on oral function in older adults (노인 대상 가상현실 기반 구강 근력 강화 훈련의 구강 기능 개선 효과)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to develop a virtual reality (VR)-based oral strength training program and apply it to older adults to assess improvements in oral function. Methods: The oral strength training was conducted 12 times over 6 weeks, from late August to early October 2023, at the participants' institution. Each session lasted approximately 60 minutes. Forty-one participants aged 65 and older were randomly assigned to either the intervention or control group. Results: Following the VR-based oral muscle strength training, the O'Leary index decreased by 0.42 (p<0.01), and the Löe & Silness index decreased by 1.11 (p<0.01). Additionally, there was a 1.24 reduction in tongue tie (p<0.01) and a 0.55 increase in salivation (p<0.05). Post hoc comparisons revealed significant differences between the two groups in gingival bacterial film (p<0.001), gingivitis (p<0.001), and tongue plaque (p<0.01). Conclusions: The study found that VR-based oral muscle strength training can improve oral health among older adults. Therefore, the VR-based oral muscle strength training program developed in this study could be beneficial in health promotion programs for the elderly.

Effects of Core Exercise Program on the Low Back Function in Private Guard and Security (경호원들의 코어프로그램 수행과 요추부 기능개선에 관한 연구)

  • Background: This study was to investigate the effects of spinal strengthening exercise and lumbar stabilization exercise(core exercise program) on trunk muscle strength, flexibility and balance, lumbar function. The subjects of this study were the eighteen subjects who was registered in private guard company. The each exercise group of 9 persons were chosen by random controlled trial. Methods: We used instrument BTE, Libra, Ruler Measuring tape to measured trunk muscle strength, flexibility, balance and lumbar function. Results: The result of this study were summarized below; The flexor muscle strength was improve in lumbar stabilization exercise(core exercise) group(p<.05). The extensor muscle strength was improve in lumbar stabilization exercise(core program) group(p<.05). The trunk flexibility was improve in spinal strengthening exercise group and lumbar stabilization exercise group(p<.05). The balance ability was improve in spinal strengthening group and lumbar stabilization exercise group(core program) group(p<.05). Conclusion: With the above results, demonstrated effects of spinal strengthening exercise and lumbar stabilization exercise in each private guard and security in this study.
