  • The purpose of this study is to estimate ultimate uplift capacity of permanent anchor which was cast into weathered rock. The ultimate uplift capacity was estimated from the load-displacement curve of four different anchors which have different bond length. The creep test was performed for 15minutes under the maximum load of each step in order to understand the load-transfer property of permanent anchor and to decide which anchor to choose. The destruction range of soil due to the changes in load was estimated by installing dial gauge on the ground which was cast into the weathered rock. Ultimately, the study on the behavior of the anchor case into the weathered rock was performed by comparing and analyzing the estimated result of the UUC obtained by the full scale pull out test in the field with the exsting theoretical and practical results of soil and rock anchor.

  • Structural experiment result showed that PHC(d=600mm) Pile used as a common compression member could resist 83.6 ~ 91.6 tonf of ultimate tension force, if the adhesion of P.C. bar of PHC pile to the concrete foundation is strengthened. Considering a proper safety factor to ultimate tension strength, PHC pile can substitute the anti-floating anchor, or reduce the number of anchors. For this purpose, pullout resistance behavior of a Bored pile embedded in real ground as well as structural tension strength of PHC pile must be evaluated. This study performed the static pullout tests to evaluate the pullout behavior of bored pile, and compared the test results with design value of side resistance. To evaluate the pullout resistance easily, static pullout test results were compared with dynamic loading test results using PDA. As a result, cement paste of the bored pile was hardened which is after 15 days, LH side resistance design value corresponded well to the Static pullout test results, also to the side resistance evaluated by dynamic loading test.

  • In this study, laboratory model test was performed to estimate pullout behavior of pipe type anchor with surface roughness, embedment and diameter. The design of buried pipe anchors in areas of vertical ground movement is governed, in part, by magnitude of the forces imposed on the pipe and displacements at which they are developed. In this paper, uplift resistance and displacement characteristics of pipe anchors caused by ground condition and embedment ratio, surface roughness, pipe diameter through the analysis of pipe anchor model test were compared and analyzed. The test results of the buried pipe showed that as the relative density increases, ultimate uplift resistance increase in 20%. When pipe anchor is failed with the relative density of the ground, the change of surface roughness, it was shown that the deformation increases as the ratio of penetration increases from 2 to 8 in five times approximately. And most anchor-based theories overestimate the breakout factor.

  • In order to investigate the influence of slanting angle of reticulated root piles(RRP) on their bearing capacities, model tests of compressive and uplift loads on RRP with different slanting angles, which were installed in sandy soils with a relative density of 47%, were carried out. Each pile which is made of a steel bar of 5mm in diameter and 300mm in length, is coated with sand to be 6.5mm in diameter. One set of RRP consists of 8 piles which are installed in circular patterns forming two concentric circles, each of which has 4 piles. Slanting angles of RRP for load tests are 0$^{\circ}$, 5$^{\circ}$, 10$^{\circ}$, 15$^{\circ}$, 20$^{\circ}$, and 25$^{\circ}$. In addition, compressive load tests on circular footing whose diameter is the same as the outer circle of RRP were carried out. Test results show that maximum load bearing capacities of RRP by regression analysis are obtained at about 12$^{\circ}$ and 13$^{\circ}$ of slanting angles for compressive and uplift load tests, respectively. Maximum compressive bearing capacity is estimated to be 13oA bigger than that of the vertical RRP and 95% bigger than that of surface footing. Maximum uplift capacity is estimated to be 21% bigger than that of the vertical RRP. And it can be appreciated that increasing the slanting angle makes the load -Settlement behavior more ductile.

  • In this study, the verification test and creep test for both a single-rebar nail and a multi-rebar nail are carried out to investigate a tensile strength for both nails. The adhesion effects between a rebar and a cement grout, a mobilized frictional force induced by pull-out load, and load transfer characteristics are examined. The results obtained from the field pull-out tests and from the numerical analysis using $FLAC^{2D}$ which is one of the programs developed based on the finite difference method are analyzed and compared for a single-rebar nail and a multi-rebar nail. The field pull-out test results for a multi-rebar nail relative to a single-rebar nail show that a tensile failure load is relatively large and the pull-out loads are well transferred to the ground in deep depth.

  • A series of field pull-out tests were carried out to investigate the behaviour of multi-pressurized soil nails. Ten soil nails were constructed in weathered soil and then, subjected to pull-out loads. The test results showed that the ultimate pull-out resistances of soil nails constructed with high pressure were about 42~142% larger than those obtained from conventional soil nails. The deduced interface shear strength at the ground-grout interface was 71 kPa for conventional soil nails, while higher shear strength of 95~166 kPa was obtained for pressurized nails. The diameter of grouted borehole increased by about 12~27% compared to ordinary soil nails under low pressure. Also, the predicted value by the cavity expansion theory is in good agreement with the measured expanded radius of grout under injection pressure by field pull-out tests.

  • Anchors are primarily designed and constructed to resist outwardly directed loads imposed on the foundation of a structure. These outwardly directed loads are transmitted to the soil at a greater depth by the anchors. Buried anchors have been used for thousands of years to stabilize structures. Various types of earth anchors are now used for the uplift resistance of transmission towers, utility poles, submerged pipelines, and tunnels. Anchors are also used for the tieback resistance of earth-retaining structures, waterfront structures, at bends in pressure pipelines, and when it is necessary to control thermal stress. In this research, we analyzed the uplift behavior of plate anchors in clay using a laboratory experiment to estimate the uplift behavior of plate anchors under various conditions. To achieve the research purpose, the uplift resistance and displacement characteristics of plate anchors caused by the embedment ratio, plate diameter, and loading rate were studied, compared, and analyzed for various cases.

  • In this study, field pull-out tests were performed for steel pipe nailing installed foldable wedge and non-wedge type steel pipe nailing under the same test conditions. This is to evaluate pull-out resistance improvement effect of steel pipe nailing installed foldable wedge. Evaluating for field pull-out characteristics of steel pipe nailing installed foldable wedge was performed through analysis of ultimate pull-out resistance ($T_L$), ultimate unit skin friction ($q_s$, $u_{max}$), tensile normal stiffness ($K_{\beta}$), tension of nail. As a result, the steel pipe nailing installed foldable wedge have an effect of pull-out resistance increased about 30% in comparison with non-wedge type steel pipe nailing.
