Uniformity Analysis of Unmanned Aerial Application with Variable Rate Spray System (무인항공 변량방제 시스템의 살포 균일도 분석)

  • In this study, we evaluated the uniformity of deposition rate and particle size distributions of the variable rate application technique using the unmanned rotorcraft by measuring the spray pattern according to path location in the range of spraying flight. The coefficient of variation (CV) of the lateral coverage rate for the overlapped distribution with the spray swath of 3.6 m in both guidance and auto-pilot flight modes maintaining constant flight speed was about 30% and the CV of the coverage rate by the flight path location was extremely small. Therefore, it was assessed that the variable rate application technology compensating for the variation of ground speed was superior in terms of spray uniformity. In addition, the droplet size distributions in both volume median diameter(VMD) and number median diameter(NMD) were adequate for aerial application and uniform in terms of lateral distribution. Thereafter, we intend to contribute to a precise application on small-scaled fields using the unmanned agricultural rotorcraft by the variable rate application.

Study on Experimental Verification of Uniform Control using Agricultural Drone (농업용 방제 드론을 이용한 균일 방제에 관한 실험적 검증)

  • This study was prevent the decrease in crop output by insect pests and spraying by application uniformity. A flight level 4 m height and 4-5 m/sec. speed are difficult to maintain with a agricultural drone for aerial application, which has been affected by the methods or environmental factors, such as changes in the wind. Therefore, which can allow a controlled application width and spray rate automatically and verified experimentally using drone. The sprayed particles began to decrease from about 3.75 m on the left and right sides of the spray nozzle. According to the number of particles, the effective spraying width was observed to be about 7.5 m, and it was verified that the proposed spraying system was effective in uniform control system.

  • Recently, water shortages have occurred due to climate change, and the need for water management of agricultural water has increased due to the occurrence of algal blooms in reservoirs. Existing algae prevention is operated by putting many people on site and misses the optimal spraying time due to movement through boats. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to block contamination in advance and move within time to uniformly spray complex microorganisms uniformly. Control drones are used for pesticide spraying and can be applied to algae prevention work by utilizing control drones. In this paper, basic research for the establishment of a marine control system was conducted for application to the reservoir environment, and as one of the results, the characteristics of a drone nozzle, a core technology that can be used for control drones, were calculated. In particular, it was found that the existing agricultural control drones had a disadvantage that the concentration was non-uniform within the suggested spraying interval, and to compensate for this, nozzle positioning and nozzle spraying uniformity were calculated. Based on the experimental results, we develop a core algorithm for establishing an algal bloom monitoring system in the reservoir environment and propose a precision control technology that can be used for marine control work in the future.

  • 2003년 일본으로부터 도입, 작년 말까지 45대의 무인헬기가 운영 중이다. 확대 도입에 앞서 충분한 방제면적 확보와 기타 활용성을 꼼꼼히 따져 경제적으로 운영되어야 하며 적당량의 농약이 균일 살포되는 자동조정시스템 개발과 전용 약제 및 제형개발, 표준 방제매뉴얼이 하루 빨리 정립되어야 할 것이다.

  • The aim of this study was to prevent the decrease in crop output by disease and insect pests and excessive spraying of agricultural pesticides by application uniformity. A 3m height and 15km/h speed is difficult to maintain with an unmanned helicopter for aerial application, which has been affected by the controlling habits and methods or environmental factors, such as changes in the wind. Therefore, in this study, an aerial application system was design to be attached to an unmanned helicopter, which can allow a controlled application width and spray rate automatically and verified experimentally using Rmax of MS-AVIATION. The size of agricultural land was 50 m2 and nine water sensitive cards were arranged at 1.25m intervals in 5 rows with each row having a 10m interval from the position of 5m. The unmanned helicopter was flying at speeds ranging from 7.2km/h to 17.6km/h and heights ranging from 2.32m to 3.47m. The proposed aerial application system allowed application uniformity by making a valid spraying area of 7.5 m2 with 46423 particles distributed on average.

  • 국내에 보급된 방제기는 인력분무기, 동력 분무기, 동력 살분무기, 스피드 스프레이어, 붐방제기 등이 있다. 그 중 동력경운기에 탑재하거나 트랙터에 견인되는 동력분무기를 주축으로 기계화되어 있다. 작은 입경의 분무입자로서 가급적 적정량을 균일하게 뿌릴 때 방제효율을 높일 수 있는데도 불구하고, 동력분무기에 의한 액제 살포는 원거리 살포에 따라 분무입자의 입경 분포가 다양하며 대부분 분무입자가 매우 크므로 고른 살포를 기대하기 어렵기 때문에 약액을 1000대 1로 희석하여 흠뻑 적실 정도로 다량 살포를 하여 살포효율을 높이고 있다. 그러나 이러한 방제 방법은 효율성, 작업능률과 환경의 오염 측면에서 상당한 문제로 지적되고 있다. Application of unmanned helicopter on pest management in rice cultivation (무인 항공기 이용 벼 병해충 방제기술 연구)

  • This research was conducted to determine the alternative tool of chemical spray for rice cultivation using the unmanned helicopter(Yamaha, R-Max Type 2G-remote controlled system) at farmer's field in Korea. The unmanned helicopter tested was introduced form Japan. In Korea the application of chemicals by machine sprayer for pest management in rice cultivation has been ordinarily used at the farmer's level. However, it involved a relatively high cost and laborious for the small scale of cultivation per farm household. Farm population has been highly decreased to 7.5% in 2002 and the population is expected to rapidly reduce by 3.5% in 2012. In Japan, pest control depending on unmanned helicopter has been increased by leaps and bounds. This was due in part to the materialization of the low-cost production technology under agricultural policy and demand environmentally friendly farm products. The practicability of the unmanned helicopter in terms of super efficiency and effectiveness has been proven, and the farmers have understood that the unmanned helicopter is indispensable in the future farming system that they visualized. Also, the unmanned helicopter has been applied to rice, wheat, soybean, vegetables, fruit trees, pine trees for spraying chemicals and/or fertilizers in Japan Effect of disease control by unmanned helicopter was partially approved against rice blast and sheath blight. However, the result was not satisfactory due to the weather conditions and cultural practices. The spray density was also determined in this experiment at 0, 15, 30, and 60cm height from the paddy soil surface and there was 968 spots at 0cm, 1,560 spots at 15cm, 1,923 spots at 30cm, and 2,999 spots at 60cm height. However, no significant difference was found among the treatments. At the same time, there was no phytotoxicity observed under the chemical stray using this unmanned helicopter, nor the rice plant itself was damaged by the wind during the operation.

Experimental Verification of the Characteristic Analysis of the Aricultural Drone using Smart Operating Mode (스마트 운영 모드를 활용한 농업용 방제 드론의 특성 분석에 관한 실험적 검증)

  • The utilization of agricultural drones for pest control operations has been increasing due to its economic efficiency. However, variations in the effectiveness of these operations occur depending on the operator's proficiency. In this study, we applied a smart operating mode to overcome the limitations of manual flight mode and proposed a numerical model. Through comparative validation with prior research, we conducted experimental verification. As a result, we determined the spray time and calculation of spray area for each drone model. We selected a drone for pest control with a high similarity to the numerical model and verified it experimentally. Through this, we confirmed that the application of the smart operating mode is more effective in terms of calculation of spray area and operational efficiency compared to manual flight mode.

  • The object of this study is to review the current states of the characteristics and strategies to control annual bluegrass to apply information to the circumstance of South Korea. Annual bluegrass is one of the most widespread turfgrass species which has great ability to produce seedhead and shoot growth. It also has ability to tolerate low mowing height and to form uniformity of turfgrass when it is established. Annual bluegrass is well-known as weak turfgrass for high and low temperature. High rate of nitrogen and phosphorus improves growth of annual bluegrass. To control annual bluegrass, deep and infrequent irrigation is more effective than light and frequent irrigation. Clipping removal is more effective than clipping return to control annual bluegrass. Prodiamine, bensulide, and dithiopyr are applied as pre-emergence herbicide, and ethofumesate and bisbyribac-sodium are used as post-emergence herbicide. Paclobutrazol and flurprimidol are used as plant growth regulator. Trinexapac which is one of the most popular plant growth regulators (PGRs) in South Korea is not proper to control annual bluegrass because it accelerates improve growth of annual bluegrass in summer. Although chemical control is mainly used in South Korea, combination of cultural and chemical control may be the strategy to maximize effectiveness to control annual bluegrass.
