A Study of Pattern-based Gesture Interaction in Tabletop Environments (테이블탑 환경에서 패턴 기반의 제스처 인터렉션 방법 연구)

  • In this paper, we present a framework which enables users to interact naturally with hand gestures on a digital table. In general tabletop applications, one gesture is mapped to one function or command. Therefore, users should know these relations, and make predefined gestures as input. In contrast, users can make input gesture without cognitive load in our system. Instead of burdening users, the system possesses knowledge about gesture interaction, and infers proactively users' gestures and intentions. When users make a gesture on the digital surface, the system begins to analyze the gestures and designs the response according to users' intention.

  • Digital forensics is the process of proving criminal charges by collecting and analyzing digital evidence which is related to the crime in question. Most digital forensic research is focused on digital forensic techniques themselves or cyber crime. In this paper, we designed a digital forensics-criminal investigation linked model in order to effectively apply digital forensics to various types of criminal investigations. Digital forensic ontology was developed based on this model. For more effective application of digital forensics to criminal investigation we derived specific application fields. The ontology has legality rules and adequacy rules, so it can support investigative decision-making. The ontology can be developed into an intelligent criminal investigation system.

In this paper, the method of RFID-Reader location selection, which is a core technique to analyze traffic amount and traffic context is proposal. In order to systematically utilize traffic related road information, GIS is used for the proposal method. In addition, a rule-based model using O/D data that is the important information for selection the location of traffic observation.

  • Because of the development of computational resources, an entire structure in which many components are combined can be analyzed. To do so, the calculation time and number of data points are increased. In many practical industry structures, there are many parts with repeated patterns. To analyze the repetitive structures effectively, a homogenization method is usually employed. In a homogenization module, including commercial programs, it is generally assumed that a unit cell is repeated in all directions. However, the practical industry structures usually have complicated, repeated patterns or structures. Complicated patterns are difficult to address using the conventional homogenization method. Therefore, in this study, a multilevel homogenization method was devised to consider complex regularities. The proposed homogenization method divides the structure into several areas and performs multiple homogenizations, resulting in a more accurate analysis than that provided by the previous method.

  • About 75% of vessel collision accidents are caused by human error, which causes enormous economic loss, environmental pollution, and human casualties, thus research on automatic collision avoidance of vessels is being actively conducted. In addition, vessels must comply with the COLREGs rules stipulated by IMO when performing collision avoidance with other vessels in motion. In this study, the collision risk was calculated by estimating the position and velocity of other vessels through the Probabilistic Data Association Filter (PDAF) algorithm based on RADAR sensor data. When a collision risk is detected, we propose an event-triggered Nonlinear Model Predict Control (NMPC) algorithm that geometrically creates waypoints that satisfy COLREGs and follows them. To verify the proposed algorithm, simulations through MATLAB are performed.

Rule-Inferring Strategies for Abductive Reasoning in the Process of Solving an Earth-Environmental Problem (지구환경적 문제 해결 과정에서 귀추적 추론을 위한 규칙 추리 전략들)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify heuristically how abduction was used in a context of solving an earth-environmental problem. Thirty two groups of participants with different institutional backgrounds, i,e., inservice earth science teachers, preservice science teachers, and high school students, solved an open-ended earth-environmental problem and produced group texts in which their ways of solving the problem were written, The inferential processes in the texts were rearranged according to the syllogistic form of abduction and then analyzed iteratively so as to find thinking strategies used in the abductive reasoning. The result showed that abduction was employed in the process of solving the earth-environmental problem and that several thinking strategies were used for inferring rules from which abductive conclusions were drawn. The strategies found included data reconstruction, chained abduction, adapting novel information, model construction and manipulation, causal combination, elimination, case-based analogy, and existential strategy. It was suggested that abductive problems could be used to enhance students' thinking abilities and their understanding of the nature of earth science and earth-environmental problems.

  • The next-generation war game simulators need a technique that reuses resources disperse on the web, and reorganizes federates on the fly based on the various events in real time. So far, HLA-based federates limit their interoperability to military networks, and in syntax-level. Web services techniques are widely used in enterprise applications and provide many proven practices to extend interoperability between WAN resources in semantic level. Two problems are met in order to utilize web services into war-game simulator : 1) How to achieve semantic-level interoperability between federates disperse on WAN, 2) How to interoperate web-based federates and RTI-based federates. In this paper, we provide solutions to the problems and highlight advantages using web-based federates with an example of ASuW(Anti-Surface Warfare).

The CAbAT Modeling of Library User Context Information Applying Activity Theory (행위이론을 적용한 도서관 이용자 컨텍스트 정보의 CAbAT 모델링)

  • The information that has been created according to the complex environment and usage pattern of library user can provide context-aware information service through knowledge structuralization on whether it is a suitable situation for user. Accordingly, the development of a context model for defining the various contexts of library user and for the structuralization of interrelated context information is an essential requirement. This study examined the context concept and context modeling, and utilizing the concept of Activity Theory by Engestrom, the activity model of library user was designed as 1) subject, 2) object, 3) tools, 4) divison of labor, 5) community, and 6) rules. In addition, for the purpose of analyzing the context of library user, activity information was tracked to utilize the Shadow Tracking for observing and recording their forms, and the methodology of CAbAT (Context Analysis based on Activity Theory) was utilized for the collected activity information to analyze the user context model.

  • The terrestrial-DMB (T-DMB) provides one-way broadcasting service in intial phase and two-way interactive data services through a return channel of mobile communications network are commercialized recently. The possible evolution of the T-DMB will be fully convergence between the T-DMB and other communication services such as telematics, RFID and so on. From this evolution point of view, a framework should be defined for supporting telematics and RFID applications on T-BMB platform. In this paper, we propose an integrated service model that could support RFID application services on the interactive T-DMB. To realize the model, we design a service scenario, a network reference model, functionalities of each entity, a data transmission mechanism messages, and coding rules. The service model could allow users to support the identical RFID application services over the T-DMB network even if T-DMB terminal doesn't have RFID reader capability. In addition, in the case for providing the interactive TTI(Traffic and Travel Information)service, users could utilize the current location based RFID application service using by the TPEG-Location application that forms the basis of user location referencing.   • Today's unmanned technology, which is being used in various industries, is expected to be able to make autonomous judgements as autonomous technology matures, in the long run aspects. In order to improve the usability of unmanned system in the military field, it is necessary to develop a technique for systematically and quantitatively analyzing the efficiency and effectiveness of the unmanned system by means of a substitute for the tasks performed by humans. In this paper, we propose the method of representing rule-based tactical behavior and modeling manned and unmanned reconnaissance agents that can effectively analyze the path alternatives which is required for the future armored cavalry to establish a reconnaissance mission plan. First, we model the unmanned ground vehicle, small tactical vehicle, and combatant as an agent concept. Next, we implement the proposed agent behavior rules, e.g., maneuver, detection, route determination, and combatant's dismount point selection, by NetLogo. Considering the conditions of maneuver, enemy threat elements, reconnaissance assets, appropriate routes are automatically selected on the operation area. It is expected that it will be useful in analyzing unmanned ground system effects by calculating reconnaissance conducted area, time, and combat contribution ratio on the route.
