In order to analyze the behavior of moving objects, a measure for determining the similarity of trajectories needs to be defined. Although research has been conducted that retrieved similar trajectories of moving objects in Euclidean space, very little research has been conducted on moving objects in the space defined by road networks. In terms of real applications, most moving objects are located in road network space rather than in Euclidean space. In similarity measure between trajectories, however, previous methods were based on Euclidean distance and only considered spatial similarity. In this paper, we define similarity measure based on POI and TOI in road network space. With this definition, we present methods to retrieve similar trajectories using spatio-temporal similarity between trajectories. We show clustering results for similar trajectories. Experimental results show that similar trajectories searched by each method and consistency rate between each method for the searched trajectories.

Advances in mobile techknowledges and supporting techniques require an effective representation and analysis of moving objects. Similarity search of moving object trajectories is an active research area in data mining. In this paper, we propose a trajectory search algorithm for spatio-temporal similarity of moving objects on road network. For this, we define spatio-temporal distance between two trajectories of moving objects on road networks, and propose a new method to measure spatio-temporal similarity based on the real road network distance. In addition, we propose a similar trajectory search algorithm that retrieves spatio-temporal similar trajectories in the road network. The algorithm uses a signature file in order to retrieve candidate trajectories efficiently. Finally, we provide performance analysis to show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

With the spread of mobile devices and advances in communication techknowledges, the needs of application which uses the movement patterns of moving objects in history trajectory data of moving objects gets Increasing. Especially, to design public transportation route or road network of the new city, we can use the similar patterns in the trajectories of moving objects that move on the spatial network such as road and railway. In this paper, we propose a spatio-temporal similar trajectory search algorithm for moving objects on road network. For this, we define a spatio-temporal similarity measure based on the real road network distance and propose a grid-based index structure for similar trajectory search. Finally, we analyze the performance of the proposed similar trajectory search algorithm in order to show its efficiency.
Recently, there have been researches on storage and retrieval technique of moving objects, which are highly concerned by user in database application area such as video databases, spatio-temporal databases, and mobile databases. In this paper, we propose a new signature-based indexing scheme which supports similar sub-trajectory retrieval at well as good retrieval performance on moving objects trajectories. Our signature-based indexing scheme is classified into concatenated signature-based indexing scheme for similar sub-trajectory retrieval, entitled CISR scheme and superimposed signature-based indexing scheme for similar sub-trajectory retrieval, entitled SISR scheme according to generation method of trajectory signature based on trajectory data of moving object. Our indexing scheme can improve retrieval performance by reducing a large number of disk access on data file because it first scans all signatures and does filtering before accessing the data file. In addition, we can encourage retrieval efficiency by appling k-warping algorithm to measure the similarity between query trajectory and data trajectory. Final]y, we evaluate the performance on sequential scan method(SeqScan), CISR scheme, and SISR scheme in terms of data insertion time, retrieval time, and storage overhead. We show from our experimental results that both CISR scheme and SISR scheme are better than sequential scan in terms of retrieval performance and SISR scheme is especially superior to the CISR scheme.
A moving object has a various features that its spatial location, shape, and size are changed as time goes. In addition, the moving object has both temporal feature and spatial feature. It is one of the highly interested feature information in video data. In this paper, we propose an efficient content-based multimedia information retrieval system, so tailed ECoMOT which enables user to retrieve video data by using a trajectory information of moving objects in video data. The ECoMOT includes several novel techniques to achieve content-based retrieval using moving objects' trajectories : (1) Muitiple trajectory modeling technique to model the multiple trajectories composed of several moving objects; (2) Multiple similar trajectory retrieval technique to retrieve more similar trajectories by measuring similarity between a given two trajectories composed of several moving objects; (3) Superimposed signature-based trajectory indexing technique to effectively search corresponding trajectories from a large trajectory databases; (4) convenient trajectory extraction, query generation, and retrieval interface based on graphic user interface

Automated road map generation poses significant research challenges since GPS-based navigation systems prevail in most general vehicles. This paper proposes an automated detecting method for intersection points using GPS vehicle trajectory data without any background digital map information. The proposed method exploits the fact that the trajectories are generally split into several branches at an intersection point. One problem in previous work on this intersection detecting is that those approaches require stopping points and direction changes for every testing vehicle. However our approach does not require such complex auxiliary information for intersection detecting. Our method is based on partial trajectory matching among trajectories since a set of incoming trajectories split other trajectory cluster branches at the intersection point. We tested our method on a real GPS data set with 1266 vehicles in Gangnam District, Seoul. Our experiment showed that the proposed method works well at some bigger intersection points in Gangnam. Our system scored 75% sensitivity and 78% specificity according to the test data. We believe that more GPS trajectory data would make our system more reliable and applicable in a practice.

Digital road map generation is primarily based on artificial satellite photographing or in-site manual survey work. Therefore, these map generation procedures require a lot of time and a large budget to create and update road maps. Consequently, people have tried to develop automated map generation systems using GPS trajectory data sets obtained by public vehicles. A fundamental problem in this road generation procedure involves the extraction of representative trajectory such as main roads. Extracting a representative trajectory requires the base data set of piecewise line segments(GPS-trajectories), which have close starting and ending points. So, geometrically similar trajectories are selected for clustering before extracting one representative trajectory from among them. This paper proposes a new divide- and-conquer approach by partitioning the whole map region into regular grid sub-spaces. We then try to find similar trajectories by sweeping. Also, we applied the $Fr{\acute{e}}chet$ distance measure to compute the similarity between a pair of trajectories. We conducted experiments using a set of real GPS data with more than 500 vehicle trajectories obtained from Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The experiment shows that our grid partitioning approach is fast and stable and can be used in real applications for vehicle trajectory clustering.

This present paper's goal is to show a virtual human agent's movement-data loci based on realistically limited perception data is human-like. To determine human-likeness of the movement-data loci, we consider interactions between two parameters: Realistically Limited Perception (RLP) data and Incremental Movement-Path data Generation (IMPG). That is to consider how the former (i.e., RLP), one of the simulated parameters of human thought or its elements dictates the latter (i.e., IMPG), one of the simulated parameters of human movement behavior. Mapping DB is a prerequisite for navigation in an agent system because it functions as an interface between perception and movement behavior. Although Hill et al. studied mapping DB methodology based on RLP, their research dealt only with a rendering camera's view point data. The agent system in this present paper was integrated with the Hill's mapping DB module and then the two parameters' interaction was considered on a military reconnaissance mission with unexpected enemy emergence. Movement loci that were generated by the agent and subjects were compared with each other. The agent system in this present research verifies that it can be a functional test bed for producing human-like movement-data loci although the human-likeness of agent is the result of a pilot test, determined by two parameters (RLP and IMPG) and only 30 subjects.
While most GIS are based on Euclidean space, cellular space can be used as an alternative type of space for a large number of GIS applications. In order to analyze the pattern of moving objects in cellular space, we need new definitions of similarity between their trajectories since the trajectory in cellular space significantly differs from those in Euclidean space. In this paper, we study the properties of moving objects in cellular space. Based on these observations, we propose several similarity measures between trajectories in cellular space. We analyze the difference of the proposed measures by experiments.
