  • The main purpose of the current research is to introduce the alternative algorithm of the non-recursive batch filter based on the unscented transformation in which the linearization process is unnecessary. The presented algorithm is applied to the orbit determination of a low earth orbiting satellite and compared its results with those of the well-known Bayesian batch least squares estimation and the iterative UKF smoother (IUKS). The system dynamic equations consist of the Earth's geo-potential, the atmospheric drag, solar radiation pressure and the lunar/solar gravitational perturbations. The range, azimuth and elevation angles of the satellite measured from ground stations are used for orbit determination. The characteristics of the non recursive unscented batch filter are analyzed for various aspects, including accuracy of the determined orbit, sensitivity to the initial uncertainty, measurement noise and stability performance in a realistic dynamic system and measurement model. As a result, under large non-linear conditions, the presented non-recursive batch filter yields more accurate results than the other batch filters about 5% for initial uncertainty test and 12% for measurement noise test. Moreover, the presented filter exhibits better convergence reliability than the Bayesian least squares. Hence, it is concluded that the non-recursive batch filter based on the unscented transformation is effectively applicable for highly nonlinear batch estimation problems.

  • A thrusters modulation method is suggested for spacecraft attitude control with asymmetric configured thrusters during orbit adjustment maneuvers. Attitude is controlled by thrusters off-modulation during orbit maneuvers. Usual control method for symmetric configured thrusters cam not be applied for asymmetric configured thrusters. Disturbance induced from thrusters asymmetricity shall be compensated during pulsing. In this paper, a thrusters control method using null solution is suggested, which is shown working well without inducing disturbance.

  • This study proposes an analysis model that can reflect the actual behavior of the rail floating track, and the most reasonable model was analyzed through field measurement and numerical analysis. It was analyzed that the current design theory analysis results of rail floating tracks were different from the field measurement results and were not suitable to reflect the actual behavior. In the rail floating track, it was analyzed that the subsidence of the point directly affects the total displacement rather than the displacement due to the bending of the rail. As a result of numerical analysis, it was analyzed that the analysis result of the proposed model, which is a parallel arrangement spring model that does not have a support point directly below the rail, reflects the actual behavior. The analysis model presented in this study can be used to predict track behavior when designing and maintaining rail floating tracks in the future.

  • In this paper, the performance of the sequential filter for a space debris collision management system is analyzed by using the flight data of KOMPSAT-2. To analyze the performance of the sequential filter, the results of batch filter used in the orbit determination system of the KOMPSAT-2 ground station is used as reference data. The overlap method is also used to evaluate the orbit accuracy. This paper shows that the orbit determination accuracy of the sequential filter is similar to that of the KOMPSAT-2 ground station, but dissimilar characteristics exist due to the filter difference. In addition, it is also shown that the orbit determination accuracy is order of 1m root mean square by using 30 hour GPS navigation solutions and 6 hour comparison period for the overlap method.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the accuracy of orbit modeling with various control point configurations and adjustment unknown parameter sets. We used 152 GCP points acquired from GPS surveying, which were distributed from Choon-chun to Nha-ju along 420km in distance. For orbit modeling, seven adjustment parameter sets were chosen to include parameters for satellite position, velocity and attitude angles at different degree of freedom. Firstly we determined the location of model point in seven configurations. Secondly we estimated model parameters for each parameter set and for each GCP configurations. Finally we applied the model to reference check points and analyzed its accuracy. We were able to find the unknown parameter set that produce best orbit modeling performance regardless of the configuration of model points.

  • The propulsion system of geostationary orbiting satellites is typically used to raise the orbit into a transfer orbit, maintain the orbital position in the south/north, east/west direction in regular operation, and accumulate momentum in the south/north and east/west direction. Recently, when an electric propulsion system is used in a geostationary orbit satellite, the payload capacity can be increased by about 40% compared to a chemical propulsion system. However, despite these advantages, using an electric propulsion system has several limitations that should apply to all geostationary orbiting satellites. This paper discusses the operational constraints to consider when developing an indigenous geostationary satellite using a fully electric propulsion, radiation exposure, and control mechanism design due to unit displacement and floating ground-design. A high-voltage control unit for electric drives were analyzed.

  • Configuration and conformation of nicotine and its protonated form have been studied by MO theoretically using EHT and CNDO/2 methods. The form with angle of rotation ${\theta}\;=\;280^{\circ}$ of pyrrolidine ring was shown to be most stable and this was interpreted in terms of conjugative, electrostatic and seric effects. It was predicted that protonation occurs on the nitrogen atom of pyridine ring and forms a ${\pi}$-complex.

  • A conceptual design of propulsion system for a geosynchronous communication satellite with 12 years design life is presented in this paper. Propellant mass budget for the design life is calculated using total velocity increment (ΔV) flowed-down from mission requirement analysis. Sizes of the fuel and oxidizer tank are derived based on the calculated propellant mass budget, and mass of the pressurant as well as the size and pressure of pressurant tank are calculated too. Thruster positioning, number of rocket engines, and position of tank are determined through Trade-Off Study with Structure & Mechanical Subsystem. Propulsion system configuration and its schematics are presented finally.
