The Effects of Bloom's Mastery Learning Model on Academic Self-Efficacy, Learning Satisfaction, and Nursing Skills Performance of Nursing Students (Bloom의 완전학습모델 적용 교육이 간호대학생의 학업적 자기 효능감, 학습만족도 및 간호술기 수행능력에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Bloom's mastery learning model on academic self-efficacy, learning satisfaction, and nursing skills performance of nursing students. A quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. Participants were recruited from two nursing colleges. The sample consisted of an intervention group (n=31) that participated in the educational program and a control group (n=30). The data were collected using self-administered questionnaires from November 2, 2015 to November 27. Data analyses utilized $x^2$-test & t-test. After the education of Bloom's mastery learning model, learning satisfaction and nursing skills in the experimental group was significantly increased than that of the control group. However, there were no statistically significant differences between the groups with academic self-efficacy. Findings indicated that, this program can be recommended as an effective educational program for the nursing student to improve their fundamental nursing skills.

The Effect of Flipped Learning based Nursing Process Education on Self-Directed Learning Ability and Academic Achievement of Nursing Students (플립러닝을 기반으로 한 간호과정 교육이 간호대학생의 자기주도적 학습능력 및 학업성취도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of nursing process education based on flipped learning on self-directed learning ability and academic achievement of nursing students. A quasi-experimental study employing a nonequivalent control group and pre-post design was conducted. The study group was composed of 135 college students enrolled in the 2nd grade of C nursing college as an experimental group and 103 college students enrolled in the 2nd grade of the D university nursing department as a control group. The experimental group participated in flipped learning with the theme of nursing process once a week for 5 weeks, and the control group applied the traditional teaching method. Data were analyzed using χ2-test and Independent t-test with SPSS 26.0 program. There were significant differences in self-directed learning ability(t=-4.71, p<.001) and academic achievement(t=-4.93, p<.001) of participants between experimental group and control group after completion of 5 sessions flipped learning. The results indicate that flipped learning can be used to improve self-directed learning ability and academic achievement of nursing students. As a result of this study, the basis for using flipped learning will be prepared, and furthermore, it will have a positive effect on the clinical practice and problem solving ability of nursing students.

  • This study attempted to investigate the effect of 'RolyPoly 160' on the self-care of diabetes in the community. The experimental group was 60 diabetes living in estern region, G-Metropolitan City, and 'RolyPoly 160' was used more than 5 times a week within 5-10 minutes for 12 weeks. The control group was a resident in the western region, and once received a group lecture in the beginning of the experiment, The study period was from July 1 to September 20, 2019. Self-care tests were conducted before and after the study. The collected data was analyzed with frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test and cross-tabulation analysis. In the experimental group, drug therapy, foot care, exercise therapy, and diet self-care were statistically significantly increased than before the experiment. Therefore 'RolyPoly 160' can be used as a nursing intervention program to help diabetic patients perform self-care in the future.

  • The purpose of this study was investigate the effects of role playing on empathy and communication competence of nursing students in psychiatric mental health nursing practicum. The study was designed using a nonequivalence control group design. The subject were 59(Experimental. 29, Control 30) nursing students from two different university in G city who were support to this study. The role playing conducted from February 26, 2018 to May 25, 2018. The study variables were 'empathy' and 'communication competence' surveyed by self-reported questionnaires. The score of empathy and communication competence of experimental group was significantly higher than those of control group after role playing. Based of these results, role playing for nursing students in psychiatric mental health nursing practicum was especially effective in increasing on the change of empathy and communication competence.

Development and Effectiveness of a Spiritual Care Education Program for Nurses (간호사를 위한 영적간호교육프로그램의 개발 및 효과)

  • This study was conducted to examine effects of the spiritual care education program on self esteem, communication, existential well-being and spiritual care competence in nurses. A non-equivalent control group, non-synchronized with pre-posttest design was used. The participants were 63 nurses(30 in an experimental group and 33 in a control group)attending a bachelor program of C Colledge in G metropolitan city. The experimental group attended 7 sessions of a SCE(Spiritual Care Education) program. Sessions were 90 minutes each, held once per week for 7 weeks. The scores for self-esteem, communication, existential well-being and spiritual care competence were measured before and after the treatment. Data were collected between October 10 and December 5, 2017 in an experimental group, April 24 and June 5, 2018 in a control group. Data were analyzed using Chi-square, Fisher's exact test, independent t-test using SPSS/WIN 21.0. The existential well-being(p<.025) and spiritual care competence(p<.001) were significantly increase in the experimental group compared to the control group after the intervention. Results suggest that this SCE program could be effective in increasing the existential well-being and spiritual care competence of nurses.

The Effect of Simulation Integrated with Problem Based Learning on System Thinking, Learning Flow, Proactivity in Problem Solving and Performance Ability for Medication in Nursing Students (PBL 연계 투약시뮬레이션교육이 간호대학생의 시스템 사고능력, 학습몰입, 문제해결 적극성 및 투약간호수행능력에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of simulation integrated with problem based learning(SIM-PBL) on nursing students. A non-equivalent pre-post test of quasi-experimental design was used. 37 were assigned to an intervention group and 41 to a control group. SIM-PBL was applied to intervention group and simulation was applied to control group. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 20.0 program. There were significant increases in system thinking(t=2.14, p=.036), proactivity in problem solving(t=2.07, p=.042), and performance ability for medication(t=5.26, p=<.001) in the intervention group compared to the control group. However, there was no difference in learning flow between the intervention and control groups. In order to adapt to the clinical setting, it is necessary to consider the SIM-PBL needs to be considered in the curriculum of nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the Nursing Research Support Program on the attitudes and the barriers about nursing research. This study was conducted from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013. The subject was the 45 nurses who were worked two hospitals located in P city. Twenty-three nurses in A hospital were designated as experimental group and 22 nurses in B hospital were designated as control group. The process of this study included the nursing research support program for experimental group. It was conducted nine times with nursing research methods by the PPT and handouts and nursing research feedback and spent times for support. The results are as follows: Experimental group's attitude score was lower than the control group with an average 62.65 points, 70.18 points(t=-2.380, p=.022). It means that the experimental group had a positive attitude to nursing research than the control group. In conclusion, this study revealed that it had a significant effects on decreasing nurse's stress for clinical nursing reasearch activity.

The Effects of Bed Baths with 2% Chlorhexidine on the Incidence of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Blood Stream Infection in Intensive Care Units (2% 클로르헥시딘 침상목욕 간호가 중환자실 입원환자의 메티실린 내성 황색포도상구균과 혈류감염 발생에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of bed baths with 2% chlorhexidine on the incidence of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and blood stream infection (BSI) and to suggest guidelines on the therapeutic bed baths using skin cleaner. This study was designed to compare the incidence of MRSA and BSI of the experimental group(n=188) who received the bed baths with 2% chlorhexidine with the incidence of MRSA and BSI of the control group(n=199) who received the existing bed baths with soap and skin cleaner. A research design used in the study was a randomized control group posttest-only design. The experimental group had 6.7% decrease in MRSA acquisition than the control group (7.4% vs 14.1%, p=.036). The experimental group was decreased in the incidence density of MRSA than the control group (9.32 cases per 1,000 patient-days at risk of experimental group vs 15.44 cases per 1,000 patient-days at risk of control group; p=.099). The experimental group had 4.5% decrease in the rate of BSI than the control group (0.5% vs 5.0%, p=.011). The experimental group was decreased in the incidence density of BSI than the control group (0.67 cases per 1,000 patient-days at risk of experimental group vs 5.52 cases per 1,000 patient-days at risk of control group; p=.052). These finding indicated that bed baths with 2% chlorhexidine is an effective nursing intervention to decrease the incidence of MRSA and BSI.

  • The purpose of this study is to confirm the effects of the contents of the recording lectures through the automatic recording system of the nursing students on the program outcomes of the pediatric nursing. The study was designed using a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. the subject of this study consisted of 104 nursing students(the experimental group of 52 and the control group of 52). Data were analyzed by ${\chi}^2$ test and independent t-test using SPSS 22.0. The effect of the first program outcome(PO1. We can integrate nursing skills based on various the liberal arts and the major knowledge into practice) of the experimental group was not confirmed, but the fifth program outcome(PO5. We can apply critical thinking based nursing processes and implement clinical inferences) was significantly higher than that of the control group. It is significant that this study presented the data to develop the class design method to improve the program outcomes of the nursing student at the present time which is operating the program outcomes based curriculum for nurse with core competency.

Effects of Self Directed Learning Applying Basic Nursing Practice Contents of e-Learning on Nursing Students' Knowledge, Self Confidence and Satisfaction (e-Learning기본간호실습 콘텐츠를 이용한 자기주도학습이 간호학생의 지식, 자신감, 교육만족도에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the educational effects of self directed learning applying basic nursing practice contents of e-learning on nursing students' knowledge, self-confidence, and learning satisfaction. Method: This study applied a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test control group design with 63 freshman nursing students (31 experimental group, 32 control group) of G. university in Incheon, Korea as subjects. The e-learning content was about the application of topical medications, central line care, and blood transfusion. All were available at the web site in school. Self-directed e-learning was more than 120 min.(3 times a week, 2 weeks)during Sep-Nov in 2011. In both groups, there were no significant difference in general characteristics, self-directed learning readiness, knowledge, and self-confidence for the pre-homogeneity. Results: The experimental group showed a higher level of improvement in knowledge and learning satisfaction but not significantly. However, the self-confidence was significantly improved in the experimental group. Conclusion: When self-directed learning using e-learning contents added to the conventional practical class, it may be beneficial for the nursing students to learn skills effectively.
