A Study on the Origin/Destination of General Cargoes of GunJang Port - Focused on China's Ports - (군장항 일반화물 O/D에 관한 연구 - 대중국 항만을 중심으로 -)

  • Due to the economic growth of China and the geographic advantage that Gunsan and Janghang ports are close to China, recently traffic of China is rapidly increasing and the role of Gunsan & Janghang ports as a gateway port of west coast became more important. There, however, remains that Gunsan and Janghang port still don't equip with enough facilities and strategies to handle increasing traffic. The purpose of this paper is to analyze O/D data of Gunsan.Janghang Port and present the result of O/D as preliminary data. O/D data of Gunsan and Janghang had been analyzed by kinds of general cargoes and from/to China's ports and this paper suggests to the competitive strategies of Gunsan and Janghang port to attract cargoes from/to China particularly.

  • The Korea's West Coast has been considered as the gateway to the economies of Southeast Asia and China. Thanks to geographical advantages, harbors located in this region have been playing a vital role despite the fact that most harbors in this region are the small and medium ones. The GunJangHang is such harbor. This paper aims to investigate the important role of this harbor, as well as to analyze the competitiveness of GunJangHang port with those of the luncheon phosphorus port, Pyongteak port, and Mokpo port regarding the rapid increasing cargo volume through this region recently.

  • A Port is, one of the important infrastructures, the terminal to connect between land and sea and exerts influences on the development of nation and local area. Accordingly government and privates are making an investment in port facilities in order to raise its competitive power. Due to the economic growth of China and the geographic advantage that Gunsan and Janghang port are close to China, recently traffic with China is rapidly increasing and the role of Gunsan & Janghang ports as a gateway port of west costbecame more important. 금강하구의 퇴적환경변화

  • 서해연안 중에서 근년에 공사가 가장 활발하게 진행되는 곳이 금강하구일 것이다. 금강하구는 하구둑의 수문이 닫히기 전까지 금강으로부터 유사 공급으로 퇴적환경이 지배적이어 군산항으로 입출항하는 선박의 주운 수심을 확보하기 위하여 주기적으로 준설을 실시해야만 했었다. 그러나 1994년 8월의 금강하구둑 수문의 닫음과 하구에 축조중인 북측도류제 및 남측도류제와 군장국가공단 조성사업 군산지구 개발에 따른 호안 축조 및 새만금 4호방조제 건설 등의 영향으로 금강하구 일대해역의 흐름이 급격히 변화되었고 이로 인한 퇴적환경의 변화가 불가피한 해역이다. Seiche Characteristics of Gun-Jang Harbor (군장항의 부진동 특성)

  • Lately Gun-Jang Harbor has undergone a drastic change in hydraulic characteristics due to newly added harbor protection measures, like a wharf and breakwater. The wharf and breakwater, with a training dike, were constructed to keep enough depth far navigation. They make the plan view of Gun-Jang Harbor semi closed and very elongated, which makes it very vulnerable to seiche. Hence it is an urgent task to unveil the hydraulic characteristics, like seiche, for the optimal operation of the new harbor system. In this study, we numerically analyze the seiche characteristics of Gun-Jang Harbor over the $10-4{\sim}10-3$ Hz frequency range, considering that wind waves due to seasonal winds are the most prevailing during winter in the West sea. As a wave driver, we use Mild Slope Eqs. and numerically integrate these using FEM based on Galerkin weak formulation. It turns out that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th eigen models are over 0.0009 Hz, 0.0013 Hz, 0.0017 Hz and 0.002 Hz.

Characteristics of Deformation and Shear Strength of a Sandy Soil Deposited on the SAEMANKEUM Sea (새만금지역 해상에 퇴적된 사질토의 변형 및 전단강도 특성)

  • This study aims at evaluating the engineering properties of very poor graded fine sands deposited on the sea. Using materials sampled at SAEMANKEUM area, a series of rowe cell consolidation tests and triaxial compression tests are conducted in order to evaluate the characteristics of deformation and shear strength by the relative density. Prior to those tests, a maximum and a minimum relative densities are obtained. As a result, it appears that the minimum void ratio is 0.88, and the maximum compactible relative density is about 71%. In addition, internal frictional angle appears to increase linearly with an increase of the relative density which is similar to that of the port KUNJANG.

  • There are many reclamation projects domestically and internationally which requires large quantity of reclaimable materials. To provide enough reclaimable soils which are limited in land, there have been various research focusing on the dredged soils in the marine environments. As a part of this research, a GIS based 3D dredging reclamation visualization program was developed for the volume estimation of dredged soils in 2015. The developed program is based on the digitized spatial information of the site investigation data with a consideration of the reliability of the data. Prior to the validation with the comparisons with the actual dredged volume measurement data, the developed program was compared with the commercial 3D visualization program with 3D visualized results from the test site near the Gunjang harbor. The validation of the developed program was performed in terms of the degree of visualized precision, the sectional and profiling of soil layers and the dredged volume estimation results. Based on the comparisons, both commercial and developed program show similar dredged volume with minor discrepancies in soil layers.

  • Jeon-buk is well equipped for the growth of the logistics industry as it is the center of inland and marine traffic. However, it was not activated because of the infrastructure insufficiency. This paper surveyed the logistics industry facilities, interviewed people who are engaged in its business, researched into their business difficulties and the problem of the logistics industry of Jeon-buk. As a result of research, this paper makes an alternative plan for the development of the logistics industry of Jeon-buk area.
