  • 생체인식은 중요한 보안기슬로 대두되고 있다. 특히 홍채인식은 보안에 있어서 특징의 유일성과 시간의 변화에 따른 안정성이라는 큰 장점을 가지고 있다. 홍채 인식율을 높이기 위해서는 특징 추출의 대상이 되는 영상이 중요하다. 또한 검증 시간의 단축을 꾀하기 위해서는 데이터 용량을 줄이기 위한 방법을 고려해야 한다. 이 두가지 문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 기존연구와 달리 홍채의 특징이 많이 분포되어 있는 영역을 찾아내어 홍채영상의 일부만을 특징추출의 대상으로 사용하고자 한다. 추출된 일부 홍채에 고차 국소 자기 상관함수를 적용하여 크기와 색상의 변화에 무관한 특징을 추출하고, 미리 학습된 신경망에서 홍채인식을 위한 최적의 신경망 구조를 찾아내어 인식율을 높이는 방법을 제안한다.

  • In Part 1 of this paper, the test statistics are obtained for detecting weak known signals in observations corrupted by multiplicative and first-order Markov additive noise. In this second part, the asymptotic and finite sample-size performance of several detectors are obtained and compared based on the test statistics. From the performance comparisons, it is confirmed that the dependence among interference components need to be taken into account to maintain the detection performance.

  • 본 논문은 고차 뉴런의 문제점으로 지적되고 있는 뉴런이 방대하게 증가하는 문제를 해결하고자, 최적의 뉴런을 생성하고 생성되어진 고차 뉴런 중 일정 비율로 뉴런의 연결강도를 도태시켜 감에 따라 네트워크상에 나타나는 특성을 비교하였다. 본 논문은 고차 뉴런을 이용한 Kohonen의 자기 조직화 맵의 고차 뉴런부에 일정 비율로 연결강도를 도태한 후 인식률을 얻는 형태로 시뮬레이션을 하였다. 특히, 종래 형태의 고차 뉴런을 이용한 Kohonen 자기 조직화 맵의 알고리즘을 변형없이 사용하였으며 중복되는 뉴런을 최대한 억제하기 위해 2차 뉴런만을 생성한 네트워크 구조 위에 입력 데이터의 특징을 유지하고 고차 뉴런의 특징을 더욱 활성화하기 위해 일정한 양의 연결강도를 도태시킴으로써 출력면에서 국소집중 반응에 의한 정확한 인식률 향상 등을 조사하는 시뮬레이션을 하였다. 본 제안 모델의 특성을 살펴보기 위해 60개의 데이터로 이루어진 금속 소나 음데이터와 암석 소나 음 데이터를 이용하여 금속인지 암석인지를 판별하는 시뮬레이션을 하였다.

The Role of Postoperative External Irradiation for the Incompletely Resected Meningiomas (불완전절제된 수막종에서 수술 후 방사선치료의 역할)

  • Purpose : The aim of this study is to look for the possible efficacy of postoperative external irradiation for incompletely resected meningiomas. Methods and Materials : From August 198: to January 1997, forty-four patients with intracranial meningioma were treated by postoperative external irradiation. Of the 44 meningiomas, 18 transitional, 13 meningotheliomatous, 6 hemangiopericytic, 4 atypical, 2 fibroblastic and 1 malignant meningioma were identified. We classified all patients into two groups by the histology. The benign group was consisted of the meningotheliomatous, transitional and fibroblastic types. The malignant group was consisted of the atypical, hemangiopericytic and malignat types. In the means of surgery, 37 patients were resected incompletely and 7 patients were managed by biopsy only. After surgery, all patients were received postoperative external irradiation. Radiotherapy was deliverd using Co-60 or 4 MV photon beam to a total dose of 50 to 65 Gy (mean dose 57.4 Gy) with a 1.8 to 2 Gy per fraction. The median follow-up was 48 months (range : 21 $\~$ 101 months). Multivariate analysis of the Influence by age, sex, location, histology and radiation dose on local control has been done using Cox's proportional hazard model. Results : 5-year local control rate was 93.8$\%$ for the benign histology and 51.8$\%$ for the malignant histology (p=0.0110) and overall local control rate at 5 years was 87.4$\%$. The analysis of the prognostic factors, such as age, sex, location, and radiation dose were not significant except for the histology. Conclusion : Adjuvant postoperative external irradiation appears to be significantly improved local control in the patients with incompletely resected meningiomas.

  • This paper proposes an efficient principal feature extraction of the image data using neural networks of a new learning algorithm. The proposed learning algorithm is a backpropagation(BP) algorithm based on the steepest descent and dynamic tunneling. The BP algorithm based on the steepest descent is applied for high-speed optimization, and the BP algorithm based on the dynamic tunneling is also applied for global optimization. Converging to the local minimum by the BP algorithm of steepest descent, the new initial weights for escaping the local minimum is estimated by the BP algorithm of dynamic tunneling. The proposed algorithm has been applied to the 3 image data of 12${\times}$12pixels and the Lenna image of 128${\times}$128 pixels respectively. The simulation results shows that the proposed algorithm has better performances of the convergence and the feature extraction, in comparison with those using the Sanger method and the Foldiak method for single-layer neural networks and the BP algorithm for multilayer neural network.

An Efficient Traning of Multilayer Neural Newtorks Using Stochastic Approximation and Conjugate Gradient Method (확률적 근사법과 공액기울기법을 이용한 다층신경망의 효율적인 학습)

  • This paper proposes an efficient learning algorithm for improving the training performance of the neural network. The proposed method improves the training performance by applying the backpropagation algorithm of a global optimization method which is a hybrid of a stochastic approximation and a conjugate gradient method. The approximate initial point for f a ~gtl obal optimization is estimated first by applying the stochastic approximation, and then the conjugate gradient method, which is the fast gradient descent method, is applied for a high speed optimization. The proposed method has been applied to the parity checking and the pattern classification, and the simulation results show that the performance of the proposed method is superior to those of the conventional backpropagation and the backpropagation algorithm which is a hyhrid of the stochastic approximation and steepest descent method.

Optimal Cell Selection Scheme for Load Balancing in Heterogeneous Radio Access Networks (이종 무선 접속망에서의 과부하 분산을 위한 최적의 셀 선정 기법)

  • We propose a cell selection and resource allocation scheme that assigns users to nearby accessible cells in heterogeneous wireless networks consisting of macrocell, femtocells, and Wi-Fi access points, under overload situation. Given the current power level of all accessible cells nearby users, the proposed scheme finds all possible cell assignment mappings of which user should connect to which cell to maximize the number of users that the network can accommodate at the same time. We formulate the cell selection problem with heterogeneous cells into an optimization problem of binary integer programming, and compute the optimal solution. We evaluate the proposed algorithm in terms of network access failure compared to a local ad-hoc based cell selection scheme used in practical systems using network level simulations. We demonstrate that our cell selection algorithm dramatically reduces network access failure in overload situation by fully leveraging network resources evenly across heterogeneous networks. We also validate the practical feasibility in terms of computational complexity of our binary integer program by measuring the computation time with respect to the number of users.

Postoperative Radiotherapy for Intracranial Meningioma (뇌수막종 환자의 수술 후 방사선치료)

  • Purpose : To evaluate the effectiveness and tolerance of postoperative external radiotherapy for patients with intracranial meningiomas. Materials and Methods : The records of thirty three patients with intracranial meningiomas who were treated with postoperative external irradiation at our institution between Feb, 1988 and Nov, 1999 were retrospectively analyzed. Median age of patients at diagnosis was 53 years with range of 17 to 68 years. Sites of involvement were parasagital, cerebral convexity, sphenoid ridge, parasellar and tentorium cerebelli. Of 33 evaluated patients, 15 transitional, 10 meningotheliomatous, 4 hemangiopericytic, 3 atypical and 1 malignant meningioma were identified. Four patients underwent biopsy alone and remaining 29 patients underwent total tumor resection. A dose of 50 to 60 Gy was delivered in 28-35 daily fractions over a period of 5 to 7 weeks. Follow-up period ranged from 12 months to 8 years. Results : The actuarial survival rates at 5 and 7 years for entire group of patients were 78% and 67%, respectively. The corresponding disease free survival rates were 73% and 61%, respectively. The overall local control rate at 5 years was 83%. One out of 25 patients in benign group developed local failure, while 4 out of 8 patients in malignant group did local failure (p<0.05). Of 4 patients who underwent biopsy alone, 2 developed local failure. There was no significant difference in 5 year actuarial survival between patients who underwent total tumor resection and those who did biopsy alone. Patients whose age is under 60 showed slightly better survival than those whose age is 60 or older, although this was not statistically significant. There was no documented late complications in any patients. Conclusion : Based on our study, we might conclude that postoperative external beam radiotherapy tends to improve survival of patients with intracranial meningiomas comparing with surgery alone.

고상반응법으로 제조한 Gd2MoO6:RE3+ (RE=Eu, Sm) 형광체의 특성

  • 최근에 최적의 모체 결정과 활성제 이온을 선택하여 우수한 발광과 흡광 특성을 갖는 산화물 형광체를 합성하여 디스플레이, 고체 레이저, 백색 발광 소자를 제작하는데 관심이 고조되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 열 및 화학적으로 안정한 $Gd_2MoO_6$를 모체 결정으로 선택하고 $Eu^{3+}$, $Sm^{3+}$ 이온을 활성제 이온으로 각각 도핑하여 다양한 종류의 색을 구현하는 새로운 종류의 형광체를 제조하고자 한다. 비교적 간단한 장비로 구성되고 볼밀 작업을 통하여 쉽게 초기 물질을 혼합 분쇄하고 소결할 수 있는 고상반응법을 사용하여 합성하였다. 특히, 모체 결정에 주입되는 활성제 이온을 둘러싸고 있는 국소적인 환경이 반전 대칭에서 벗어나는 정도를 파악하여 활성제 이온의 발광 파장의 세기가 최대가 되는 최적의 조건을 규명하고자 한다. $Eu^{3+}$ 이온이 도핑된 $Gd_2MoO_6$ 형광체의 발광 스펙트럼은 $Eu^{3+}$ 이온의 함량에 관계없이 모든 시료에서 전형적인 $Eu^{3+}$ 이온의 $^5D_0-^7F_j$ (j=1-4) 전이에 의한 발광 스펙트럼을 나타내었고, 가장 강한 적색 발광 파장은 611 nm에서 관측되었다. $Sm^{3+}$ 이온이 도핑된 $Gd_2MoO_6$ 형광체의 경우에, $Sm^{3+}$ 이온의 함량에 관계없이 모든 시료에서 $Sm^{3+}$ 이온의 $^4G_{5/2}-^6H_j$ (j=5/2, 7/2, 9/2) 전이에 의한 발광 스펙트럼을 나타내었고, 가장 강한 발광 파장은 616 nm에서 관측되었다. 이외에도, 결정 입자와 발광 세기의 상관 관계를 조사하였다.
