Localized Induction-Heating Method by the Use of Selective Mold Material (재료의 선택적 사용에 의한 금형의 국부적 유도가열기법)

  • High-frequency induction is an efficient way to heat mold surface by electromagnetic induction in a non-contact procedure. Though the induction heating has an advantage in terms of its rapid-heating capacity on the mold surface, it still has a restriction on mold temperature control due to geometric restriction of an induction coil according to the mold shape. It has been recently applied to the injection molding of thin-walled parts or micro/nano structures. For localized induction heating, an injection mold composed of ferromagnetic material and paramagnetic material is used. The electromagnetic induction concentrates on the ferromagnetic material, from which we can selectively heat for the local mold elements. The present study proposed a localized induction heating method by means of selective use of mold material. The feasibility of the proposed heating method is investigated through the comparison of experimental observations according to the mold material.

It has been recently applied to the injection molding of thin-walled parts or micro/nano structures. Though the induction heating has an advantage in terms of its rapid-heating capacity on the mold surface, it still has difficulty in efficient mold temperature control due to the restriction of an induction coil design suitable for the given mold shape. The present study proposed a localized mold heating method by means of selective use of mold material. For localized induction heating, an injection mold composed of ferromagnetic material and paramagnetic material is used. The electromagnetic induction concentrates on the ferromagnetic material, from which we can selectively heat for the local mold elements. The feasibility of the proposed heating method is investigated through an experimental measurement in terms of the heating efficiency on the localized mold surface.

  • 전력용 변압기에 아크나 코로나가 발생하여 국부가열이 존재하면 절연유나 절연지가 분해하여 저분자의 탄화수소, 수소, 탄화가스, 일산화탄소 둥이 발생하여 절연유에 용해된다. 절연유에 용해된 가스를 실시간 분석하여 변압기의 이상을 조기에 발견하여 운전의 효율성을 높이고 고장을 사전에 예방하기 위한 기술이 전개되고 있다. 경제적인 측면에서 단일 수소가스 검출센서가 널리 보급되어 실용화되고 있는 실증이다. 이 논문에서는 전력용 변압기의 국부적 고온인 경우의 가열온도, 가열시간 및 방전에 대하여 수소가스 주도형 센서의 응답특성에 관하여 고찰하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 유방암치료에 적용되는 Microwave Hyperthermia를 이용한 국부 가열의 방법론적인 접근을 하였다. 그 결과 위상과 거리를 변수로 하여 정확성과 효율성을 2개의 높이는 알고리듬을 찾게 되었다. 그래서 실험적으로 증명하기 위하여 3개의 Waveguide antenna 및 안테나에 파워를 분배해주는 파워 디바이더를 제작하였다.

  • 건축 구조물의 내화성을 판단하기 위한 가장 보편적인 방법은 가열로에서 규정된 표준가열곡선에 따라 시험하는 것이다. 이러한 방법은 건축 구조물의 내화성을 빠르고 쉽게 판단하기에는 적합하나 지식의 발전과 함께 증가하는 성능기반설계법에 대해 합리적인 근거를 제시하지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 실제 화재에서 발생할 수 있는 국부화재에 대한 강재 기둥의 거동에 대해 평가하고 그에 대한 기초자료를 제시하고자 하였다.

Improvement of Fatigue Strength by Spot Heating for Out-of-plane Gusset (국부가열을 이용한 면외거셋의 피로강도 향상)

  • In the study, the fatigue strength improvement and mechanism have been estimated by the Spot-Heating treatment on welded bead toes. For this, web-gusset specimens were made without residual stresses and the others with residual stresses imposed by Spot-Heating. The 4-point bending tests were performed in order to estimate the effect of spot-heating on fatigue strength and fatigue characteristics quantitatively for non load-carrying fillet welded joints subjected to pure bending. As a result of fatigue test, fatigue strength of As-Welded specimen for non load-carrying fillet welded joints subjected to pure bending has satisfied the grade of fatigue prescribed in specifications of korea, AASHTO and JSSC. As compare with As-Welded specimen and Spot-Heating specimen have increased about 20% for the fatigue strength at $7.7{\times}10^6$ cycles. The Spot-Heating by reformation of the residual stress on welded bead toes has greatly affected the fatigue crack propagation life, but has slightly affected the fatigue crack initiation life.

  • Warm deep drawing of single-action dies using local heating has appeared to be an alternative attractive production method of multi-operation die sets generally used at room temperature in deep drawing of rectangular cup. Uniaxial tensile tests and deep drawing tests of various materials are carried out and the effect of temperature on tensile properties and drawability are examined at temperatures up to 200 .deg. C under three kinds of lubricants of teflon film, vinyl film and drawing oil. Good formability is achieved when punch and die temperature were differentiated intentionally in order to get large tensile strength(TS) at punch shoulder protion and small TS at die side. Throughout the experiments, it has been shown that the limiting drawing height of STS316L was increased with heating die and blank holder at 100 .deg. C, but that of STS430 wasn't. When vinyl or teflon film was attached on the plates, the drawability was increased considerably.

  • Weldlines are generated during the injection molding process when two or more melt flows are brought into contact. The weldlines are unavoidable in the cases of presence of holes or inserts, multi-gated delivery systems, significant thickness change, etc. At the welded contact region, a 'V'-shaped notch is formed on the surface of the molded part. This 'V'-notch deteriorates not only surface appearance but also mechanical strength of the molded part. To eliminate or reduce weldlines so as to improve the weldline strength, the mold temperature at the corresponding weld locations should be maintained higher than the glass transition temperature of the resin material. The present study implements high-frequency induction heating in order to rapidly raise mold surface temperature without a significant increase in cycle time. This induction heating enables to local mold heating so as to eliminate or reduce weldlines in an injection-molded plastic part. The effect of induction heating conditions on the weldline strength and surface appearance of an injection-molded part is investigated.

Optimal Design of Local Induction Heating Coils Based on the Sampling-Based Sensitivity (샘플링 기반 민감도를 이용한 국부 유도 가열용 코일의 최적 설계)

  • This paper proposes a sampling-based sensitivity method for dealing with electromagnetic coupled design problems effectively. The black-box modeling technique is basically applied to obtain an optimum regardless of how strong the electromagnetic, thermal and structural analyses are coupled with each other. To achieve this, Kriging surrogate models are produced in a hyper-cubic local window with the center of a current design point. Then design sensitivity values are extracted from the differentiation of basis functions which consist of the models. The proposed method falls under a hybrid optimization method which takes advantages of the sampling-based and the sensitivity-based methods. Owing to the aforementioned feature, the method can be applied even to electromagnetic problems of which the material properties are strongly coupled with thermal or structural outputs. To examine the accuracy and validity of the proposed method, a strongly nonlinear mathematical example and a coil design problem for local induction heating are tested.
