Generation of Floor Response Spectra including Equipment-Structure Interaction in Frequency Domain (진동수 영역에서 기기-구조물 상호작용을 고려한 층응답스펙트럼의 작성)

  • Floor response spectra for dynamic response of subsystem such as equipment, or piping in nuclear power plants are usually generated without considering dynamic interaction between main structure and subsystem. This study describes the analytic method in which equipment response spectra can be obtained through dynamic analysis considering equipment-structure Interaction(ESI). In this method, dynamic response of the equipment by this method is based on a dynamic substructure method in which the equipment-structure system is partitioned into the single-degree-ol-freedom system(SDOF) representing the equipment and the equipment support impedance representing the dynamic charactenstics of the structure ai the equipment support. A family of equipment response spectra is developed by applying this method to calculate the maximum responses of a family of SDOF equipment systems with wide banded equipment frequency, damping ratio, and mass. The method is validated by comparing the floor response spectrum from this method with the floor response spectrum generated from the rigorous analysis including equipments on the containment building of a prototypical nuclear power plant. in order to Investigate ESI effect in the response of equipment, response values from the method and the conventional approach without considering ESI are compared for the equipment having the mass less than 1% of the total structural mass. Response spectra from the method showed lower spectral amplitudes than those of the conventional floor response spectra around controlling frequencies.

A Study on the Effects of Nuclear Power Plant Structure-Component Interaction in Component Seismic Responses (원전 구조물-기기 상호작용이 기기 지진응답에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • Seismic design and analysis of nuclear power plant components are performed based on an decoupled model. However, this decoupled analysis has a limitation in that it generates inaccurate results compared to the coupled analysis because it cannot simulate actual phenomena such as the interaction between structures and components. Thus, this study performed seismic coupled and decoupled analysis on an existing nuclear containment structure and related components, considering the mass and natural frequency ratios. And based on these results, comparative analyses of responses of components were conducted. Consequently, the seismic coupled analysis result generally gave a smaller value than the decoupled analysis result. These results were similar to the analysis results for the simple coupled model, which was an existing study, but the difference in component responses was much more pronounced. Also, this was influenced by the installation location of the component rather than the influence of the input frequency of the input seismic motions. Finally, the difference between the decoupled and coupled seismic analysis occurred in the region where the mass ratio of the components was large, and the natural frequencies were almost similar due to the considerable dynamic interaction between the structure and the component in this realm.

Seismic Response Analysis of Support-Isolated Equipment in Primary Structure (감진계통 지지부가 설치된 기기의 지진해석)

  • The effectiveness of the support-isolation system for the equipment mounted on the primary structure is evaluated to reduce its responses under the earthquake load with considering the interaction between the primary structure and the internal equipment in this paper. A computer code (KBISAP) is developed to analyze the above system using the matrix condensation technique and constant average acceleration method. To evaluate the effectiveness of the support-isolation system, three systems are used in this study as follows: i) fixed-base structure with support-fixed equipment, ii) base-isolated structure with support-fixed equipment and iii) fixed-base structure with support-isolated equipment. The results of case study show that the acceleration of equipment with the support-isolation system is less than that of the support-fixed equipment in the base-isolated structure and significantly reduced the response compared with that of the support-fixed equipment in the fixed-base structure with the reduction factor of 8. The support-isolation system used in this study can reduce the response and also increase the safety margin of the important safety-related internal equipments.

  • 열차가 고속으로 터널에 진입하게 되면 터널 내부에서 극심한 압력 교란이 발생하게 되며 이로 인한 이명현상은 승객들에게 불쾌감을 크게 유발시키고, 열차 구조물에 작용하는 반복적인 하중변화 또한 구조상 큰 문제를 일으킬 수 있게 된다. 따라서 이를 해결하기 위해서는 터널 내부의 유동장에 대한 정확한 예측이 필요하다. 본 논문은 긴 터널을 효율적으로 해석하기 위해서 최소 차원의 공간 가정을 통하여 계산 시간을 절약할 수 있는 혼합차원 기법을 이용하여 현재 G7 시제차의 시험 운행 구간내의 터널들에 대해서 수치해석을 수행하였다. 해석 결과 터널 내부에서는 압축파, 팽창파의 상호 작용에 의한 복잡한 압력 교란이 발생하였고, 이러한 압력 변화는 열차 속도, 터널 길이, 측정위치에 따라 각각 다르게 나타났다. 따라서 터널 내부의 유동장을 정확히 예측하려면 열차 속도, 터널 길이, 열차 길이, 열차/터널 단면적 비, 측정 위치 등을 고려하여 해석을 수행하여야 한다. 이러한 수치 해석 결과는 시제차 시험 계획의 수립 및 시험기기의 선택과 설치 위치 등을 결정하는 중요한 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이며, 고속 열차의 여압 시스템과 외부 부착 구조물에 대해서도 중요한 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

  • A stochchastic analysis procedure of generating floor response spectra for proportionally damped linear systems subject to earthquake loading is presented. Theories of random vibration and mode acceleration method are used in the formulation of governing equations. The structure-oscillator interaction is not considered. It is assumed that the input motions and oscillator responses are stationary Gaussian processes with mean zero. The nonstationary characteristics of earthquake motion are incorporated in the peak factor which is based on Vanmarcke's theory. Floor response spectra for both resonance and non-resonance cases are calculated under the assumption that the peak factors for structure and oscillator are equal to that for ground response spectrum. The validity of this method is demonstrated by comparing the results obtained by proposed method with those by time history analyses. The results obtained by this method are conservative and accurate with tolerable precision. This method saves much computing time compared with time history analysis method.

  • The switching system in a maglev train is an indispensable element for distributing train routes, and it should be designed to ensure safe operation. Unlike conventional wheels on rails, the switching track in EMS-type maglev is supported by a group of 3 to 4 steel girders. When the vehicle changes its route, the segmented track allows the girders to change from a straight position to a curved one with a small radius of curvature. Hence, the structural characteristics of the segmented switching system may affect the levitation stability of the maglev vehicle. This study experimentally evaluates the dynamic interaction between maglev vehicles and a segmented switching system. The results may be helpful for improving the switching system. The measured levitation and lateral air gaps were evaluated at a vehicle speed of 25 km/h, and the ride quality of the Maglev vehicle was determined to be "comfortable" according to the UIC 513 standard.

  • Using virtual reality technology, users can learn and experience many interactions in virtual space like the actual physical space. This study was conducted to develop air flow simulator that allows farmers and consultants to consult air flow through VR devices by creating a greenhouse or pigpen model. It can help educate farmers about the importance of ventilation effects for agricultural facilities. We proposed CFD visualization system by building a virtual reality environment and constructing database of CFD and structure of agricultural facilities. After consultants can set up situations according to environmental conditions, the users experience the visualized air flow of agricultural facility according to the ventilation effects. Also it can provide a quantified environmental distribution in the agricultural facility. Currently, the CFD data in agricultural facilities are established during winter and summer. In order to experience various environmental conditions in the developed system, The experts need to run CFD data under various environmental conditions and register them in the system requirements.

  • Augmented Reality (AR) enables the enhanced realism and interaction by providing the overlaid digital information on the user's view of the physical world. In this paper, we propose an AR-based ship design visualization system for presenting ship 3D model in smart phones or table PCs. The proposed system compute corner points and feature points by contour finding method and harris corner detector, and build a ship-design drawing database. By using SURF algorithm, key feature points are extracted from ship-design drawing image which is obtained by mobile camera. Then ship-design drawing image is recognized by matching the feature points stored in DB and extracted key feature points. 3D ship structures are visualized by overlaying the ship-design drawing image on the smart phone or table PC's screen. Compared to conventional 2D ship-design, proposed system helps to easily understand the structures of the ship and reduce the business design period. Thus, Enhanced competitiveness of business is expected.

Comparative Evaluation on the Corrosion Resistance of Galvalume and Galvanized Steel Pipe (갈바륨 강관과 용융아연도금 강관의 내식성 비교 평가)

  • 아연계 도금 강판은 우수한 내식성을 가지며 특히 아연의 희생방식기구에 의해 철의 부식을 억제하므로 선박, 건축자재, 전자기기 및 자동차 등 다양한 분야에서 그 수요와 사용범위가 증가하고 있다. 또한 도금 조성비 변화 및 다양한 표면처리 방법을 통해 가혹한 환경에서의 우수한 내식성에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그 중 갈바륨(Galvalume)은 55%의 알루미늄(Al)과 45%의 아연(Zn)으로 되어 있으며, 아연의 장점인 희생방식성과 내알카리성, 알루미늄의 장점인 내구성과 내열성, 내산성을 이상적으로 결합시킨 알루미늄(Al)-아연(Zn) 고내식 합금용융도금강판이다. 본 연구에서는 갈바륨 소재를 여러 산업현장에서 강관 형태로 사용할 경우의 내식성을 파악하기 위해 갈바륨 강관과 기존에 사용되고 있는 용융도금재인 용융아연도금 강관을 비교하며 실험을 진행하였다. 냉간압연강관에 용융아연도금 약 $25{\mu}m$, 갈바륨 약 $20{\mu}m$ 두께로 제작된 강관을 사용하였으며 제작된 도금층 표면 모폴로지는 SEM을 통해 관찰하였고, XRD 분석을 통해 결정 구조를 확인하였다. 또한 5% 염수분무 환경 중 노출시험(Salt spray test), 3% NaCl 용액에서의 자연침지 시험 및 3% NaCl 용액 중 전기화학적 양극분극 시험을 진행하여 평가하였다. 5% NaCl 환경에서의 염수분무 시험 결과 용융아연도금의 경우 단면에서는 90시간, 표면에서는 260시간 경과 후 적청이 발생하였다. 반면, 갈바륨의 경우에는 단면에서 210시간 경과 후에 적청이 발생하였고, 표면의 경우에는 900시간 이상에서도 적청이 발생하지 않았다. 이 결과를 통해 용융아연도금에 비해 갈바륨 도금의 내식성이 단면에서는 3배, 표면에서는 4~5배 이상 향상된 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 3% NaCl 용액 중 자연침지 시험 결과 용융아연도금 강관 표면은 24시간 경과 후 열화부를 중심으로 흑변하는 것을 확인할 수 있었으나 갈바륨의 경우에는 900시간 이상 실험이 진행되는 동안 No Scribe 및 Scribe 시편 모두 외관상 변화가 거의 없었다. 단면의 경우, 용융아연도금 시편은 900시간 이상 실험이 진행되는 동안 외관상 변화가 없었으며, 갈바륨 시편의 경우 300시간 경과 하면서 흰색의 아연 부식생성물이 나타났으나 900시간 이후로도 적청은 발생하지 않았다. 자연전위 측정결과 용융아연도금 및 갈바륨 시편 모두 유사한 전위거동을 나타냈지만 단면의 경우 갈바륨 시편이 용융아연도금에 비해 안정적인 거동을 보였다. 3% NaCl 용액 중 전기화학적 양극 분극 시험 결과 용융아연도금이 갈바륨에 비해 귀한 방향의 부식 전위 값을 나타냈으며, 부식 전류밀도도 용융아연도금이 갈바륨에 비해 더 높은 값을 나타내는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이상의 염수분무시험, 자연침지시험 및 전기화학적 양극분극시험을 통해 종합적으로 분석-고찰하여 보면, 그 부식이 진행되는 과정은 융융아연도금과 달리 갈바륨 도금의 경우가 다단계적인 부식 과정을 거치면서 우수한 내식 특성을 나타낸다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 즉, 갈바륨 도금은 그 도금 막에 분포된 합금상 원소 성분들이 상호 갈바닉(Galvanic) 작용하며 형성된 부식생성물이 수평적으로 자체 차단(Barrier) 역할을 하는 과정과 부분적 부식-회복 과정을 거치면서 다단계적으로 부식속도를 감소시키게 된다는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다.

Physicochemical Characteristics of Galactomannan by Fractionation to Evaluate Heterogeneity (불균일 성질을 평가하기 위한 분획화된 galactomannan의 이화학적 특성)

  • Heterogenous samples of locust bean gum (galactomannan) were prepared into homogeneous substances. Locust bean gum was fractioned using ammonium sulfate (14.11-23.08%, w/w). The intrinsic viscosity was obtained by extrapolating reduced viscosity versus concentration by using an Ubbelohde viscometer. The ranges of intrinsic viscosity for fractions that not included protein (F3-F6) and fractions that included protein (F1-F2) were 9.89-8.10 and 8.44-4.59, respectively. Values for Huggins' coefficient (k'), which depends on physical interactions, were 0.46-0.78. Increasing ammonium sulfate concentration was associated with a weak trend towards lower molecular weight and intrinsic viscosity by size-exclusion chromatography (SEC): $M_w$ ranged from 674 to 617 kg/mol and [${\eta}$] from 9.80 to 8.10 dL/g between F3 and F6. The evaluations of those fractions by using SEC and the Ubbelohde viscometer produced very similar values, as predicted. We verified the application of a gradient of ammonium sulfate to precipitate locust bean gum into fractions of different molecular size and show structural variations.
