It has better seismic performance and construction performance in precast column than in conventional RC column. In this research, seismic performances of precast column are analyzed by OpenSEES. Main variables of analysis are concrete strength, jacking ratio of tendon, amount of tendon and size of segment. As the amount of tendon and jacking ratio are increased, the flexural strength is also increased. And there is very little effect as it varies concrete strength and size of segment. But high initial jacking ratio leads to early yielding of tendon. And it is considered that a size of segment is related on construction problem. And also, strain in core concrete is less than ultimate strain. Consequently, it is considered that the amount of transverse steel will be reduced.

The object of this study is to propose a rate of vibration increase in the analysis of temporary rail non-fixed in the vertical direction and characterize the nonlinear dynamic behavior of temporary rail while considering longitudinal and latitudinal load, vibration and lifting. The rate of vibration increase is proposed through measurement of an actual structure that is largely affected by loading and vibration of the superstructure. Dynamic behavior was additionally characterized by the dynamic response resulting from nonlinear dynamic finite element analysis with vehicle loading, including the rate of vibration increase. As a result, the rate of vibration increase by the vibration of an Auto Bar Machine is determined as 7% and the maximum stress in the analysis of the nonlinear rail is increased 14.5% over that of linear rail, and temporary rail is shown to be very sensitive to the velocity of the superstructure.

This study quantitatively evaluated the performance improvement of a circular reinforced concrete pier under dynamic load with strengthening using a steel plate. Various three-dimensional elements were applied using the finite element program ABAQUS. The analytical parameters included the ratios of the steel cover length to the pier's total height and the ratios of the steel cover thickness to the pier diameter for inelastic-nonlinear analysis. The lower part of the pier had fixed boundary conditions, and lateral repetitive loads were applied at the top of the pier. The pier was investigated to evaluate the dynamic performance based on the load-displacement curve, stress-strain curve, ductility, energy absorption capability, and energy ratio. The yield and ultimate loads of piers with steel covers increased by 3.76 times, and the energy absorption capability increased by 4 times due to the confinement effects caused by the steel plate. A plastic hinge part of the column with a steel plate improved the ductility, and the thicker the steel plate was, the greater the energy absorption capacity. This study shows that the reinforced pier should be improved in terms of the seismic performance.

Presently, composite method for steel and concrete is often used the stud. Steel properties of composite column could be changed by increasing of welding. The changed properties is possibly to cause local-buckling. Composite column had a large effect by slip instead of pull-out force in comparison composite girder. Improvement of adhesive force had effect by contact area rather than height of stud in composite column. This paper proposed new type of stud and analyzed performance through experimental study. This method would be effect steel structure with curvature.
This study describes the three-dimensional behavior of pile foundations based on a numerical study. A series of numerical analyses were performed for connectivity conditions between piles and cap under vertical and lateral loadings. It is shown that a fixed connection between pile and cap is able to transfer significant bending moment through the connection and increases the pile lateral stiffness and the bending moment. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the cross sectional shear force in the raft with fixed head condition was larger than that of pinned head condition. Thus, the reinforcement of pile head and thickness of the raft also increases in fixed pile head condition. From the results, it is found that the overall behavior and cross sectional forces of pile foundations is affected significantly by the pile head conditions. Furthermore, the design of pile foundations with pinned head condition was judged to be less costly and very useful for preliminary design stages.

The objective of this study is to investigate the behavior of superstructure considering several factors such as change of pile rigidity, soil characteristics, and the constraint condition of support. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Pile-rigidity computed by the rotating deformed plane method is continuously varied up to approximately 5D(D=diameter of pile) below the ground level. This result is consistent with the previous study$^{(12)}$, in which the pile deformation occurs at approximately $3{\sim}6$ times of pile diameter from the ground level. 2. For bridge structure-pile system, analytical results of internal forces and deformations show different values for modified pile rigidity and unchanged pile rigidity. 3. Detaild analysis considering modified pile rigidity is required for the long-span bridge design with structure pile system.
The bridge piers under service suffered a brittle failure due to the deterioration of lap-spliced longitudinal reinforcement without developing its flexural capacity or ductility. The earthquake induced lateral force results in tension which causes bond-slip failure at the lap-spliced region in circular bridge piers. In this case, such a brittle failure can be controlled by the seismic retrofit using FRP laminated circular tube. The retrofitted piers using FRP laminated circular tube showed significant improvement in seismic performance due to FRP's confinement effect. This paper presents the analytical results on the seismic strengthening effect of circular bridge piers with poor lap-splice details and strengthened with FRP laminated circular tube. FRP's confinement effect is predicted by the classical elasticity solution for the laminated circular tube manufactured with several layers. The FRP laminated circular tube induces the flexural failure instead of a bond-slip failure of the circular reinforced concrete piers under seismic induced lateral forces. To investigate the correctness and effectiveness of analytical solution derived in this study, the analytical results were compared with the experimental data and it was confirmed that the results were correlated well each other, The effects on the confinement of FRP laminated circular tube, such as the number of layers, the fiber orientations, and the mechanical properties, were investigated. From the parametric study, it was found that the number of layers, the fiber orientations, and the major Young's modulus (E11) of the FRP laminated circular tube were the dominant parameters affecting the confinement of reinforced concrete circular bridge piers.

This study investigated the behavior of R/C column confined with headed crossties subjected to eccentric loading. The 16 specimens are designed to have adequate confinement steel, determined by ACI seismic design. The variables studied in this research test are eccentricity to depth ratios, spacing of lateral steel and the anchor type of end of crossties. From the test results, all columns showed similar behavior up to the peak load but those columns laterally confined with head presented more ductile behavior after the peak load. The comparisons indicate that the flexural behavior of confined-concrete columns can be computed resonable accurately by P-M interaction curve.

This study presents a sustainable design method that optimizes the embodied energy of concrete beam based on the concept of sustainable development that effectively utilizes natural resource and energy within the range that our succeeding generation can afford to utilize. In order to get the flexural strength carrying the ultimate load, concrete beam sections are designed by optimization that consists of the embodied energy as a objective function and the requirements of design code as constrained conditions. The sustainable design can be used to minimize the embodied energy consumed in material production, construction, operation, demolition of the infrastructure. As a result of comparison of the cost and the embodied energy optimizations based on practical beam sections, it is shown that 20% embodied energy saving and 35% $CO_2$ emission saving are achieved by sacrificing 10% cost increase. The sustainable design method provides a new effective methodology that manages the strength design concept based on cost minimization together with economic feasibility and sustainability. In addition, the method is expected to be applied to more various structural design practices.

Four RC shear wall specimens with a/d of 2.2 are designed. And a flexural retrofitting is performed for one specimen by both enlarging wall section and adding additional vertical reinforcements. Also the effectivity of jaketting wall sides is evaluated for the two methods using only steel plate or welded wire mesh with enlargement of section. Cyclic loads are applied to the retrofitted specimens according to the loading history proposed by ACI under constant axial force. Test result showed that the strength and ductility of specimen were improved where the section was enlarged after the installation of additional vertical reinforcements. Confining the ends of wall by U shape W.W.F. with enlargement of section showed most excellent structural capacity regarding to the strength and ductility. Retrofitting by using steel plate was much effective not only to protect the abrupt decrease of strength after yield but also to improve the deformation capacity.
