RFID-based Automatic Entity Information Management System for Smart Refrigerator (스마트 냉장고를 위한 RFID 기반 물품 정보 자동 관리 시스템)

  • In this paper, we implement an automatic entity information management system for smart refrigerator using RFID technology in which objects containing electronic tags are automatically identified using radio wave. Unlike current "smart" refrigerators, the system presented in this paper implements smart tag information acquisition mechanism and real-time information management system to provide various information on entities in refrigerators to local and remote users. As the first step, this paper analyzes the requirements for smart refrigerator system based on the RFID and suggests design considerations. Based on the analysis, we propose and implement an efficient tag location tracking method based on antenna transfer method and an intelligent tag information management system based on embedded database and web server. We also provide a wide range of experimental results on the number of tags identified at a time and the tag recognition ratio according to the RFID antenna transfer speed and the angle between tag reader and tags.

Development of Automatic Design Program for Solid Rocket Motors Structure (고체 추진기관 구조체의 설계 자동화 프로그램 개발)

  • In order to perform system requirements quickly and accurately, an automatic design program of solid rocket motors(SRM) structure designated as the 'ProDes software' has been developed and verified. from given system design criteria and constraints, it has the capabilities to design, analysis, simulation and drawing process to greatly reduce the over 'design cycle time' and manpower of a project. The conception of the program is modular, and calculations are performed step by step allowing parametric design studies and providing final selected design goal. Each configurations of SRM components and joint types composed of various master models is obtained from the data base module of the library. Between the design results of the ProDes software and those of the previous detail design of the established motor showed good agreements.

  • The power-pack combustion test of technology demonstration model(TDM0) for 9 tonf-class staged combustion cycle engine development was conducted in the Upper-stage Engine Test Facility(UETF) of Naro Space Center. The power-pack model of TDM0 was composed of a pre-burner, a turbo-pump and propellant supply systems without a main combustor. In the power-pack combustion test, we confirmed the linked working condition and verified the main functional variation of the power-pack for the engine system test.

  • 반도체 공정 등에서 10-6~10-8 Torr의 고진공 환경을 제공하기 위하여 사용되는 고진공 터보분자펌프 (Turbomolecular Pump, TMP)는 다층의 회전깃을 갖는 로터를 회전시켜 분자를 배출시키는 방식을 사용하는 진공펌프이다. 또한 최근에는 디스플레이 및 반도체 공정에서 높은 진공도뿐만 아니라, 높은 배기속도를 요구하는 추세에 따라, 터보 펌프와 드래그 펌프부분을 동시에 가지고 있어 상대적으로 작동 진공도 영역이 넓은 복합 분자펌프(Compound Turbomolecular Pump, CMP)의 활용도가 넓어지고 있다. 이러한 분자펌프가 장시간의 고속회전에 적합하도록 비접촉 방식인 자기부상 방식의 적용이 최근 거의 표준화되어 있다. 자기베어링 시스템은 전자기력을 이용하여 자성체인 회전축을 부상지지 함으로써 비접촉 고속 회전이 가능하여 윤활이 용이하지 않은 진공 환경 등 가혹한 환경에 적합하며, 터보분자펌프는 자기베어링이 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 분야이기도 하다. 자기베어링 시스템의 설계는 크게 하드웨어와 소프트웨어로 나누어질 수 있는데, 하드웨어의 경우 전체 로터 시스템의 특성을 고려하여 설계되어야 하며, 주로 자기베어링 코어와 코일, 변위센서 및 전력 증폭 시스템 등의 기전적인 요소들이 이루어져 있다. 하드웨어 설계와 함께 제어시스템의 설계도 매우 중요하며, 이는 자기베어링 시스템이 불안정한 특성을 갖는 개루프계를 갖고 있으므로 안정화를 위한 능동제어 시스템이 필수적이며 진동제어 등 여러 가지 기능이 요구되기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 자기부상형 고진공 복합분자펌프의 제어를 위한 선형제어시스템의 구성을 실제 시스템의 적용을 통하여 설명하였다. 각 제어기는 DSP 를 이용한 디지털 제어시스템으로 구성되었으며, 2, 500 l/s 급의 복합 분자펌프 시작품에 적용하여 10,000 rpm까지의 기본성능시험을 수행하였다.

X-band CW Doppler Radar Development for Measurement of Muzzle Velocity (포구 속도 측정을 위한 X-band CW 도플러 레이더 개발)

  • In this paper, we described the implementation of the X-Band continuous-wave doppler radar for muzzle velocity measurement. The radar is consisted of microwave transceiver, signal processor, power board, and the measuring program was developed for the operating and field test. The operating frequency of doppler radar is able to set ${\pm}3\;MHz$ with 5 channel from the center frequency, and the output power is 25 dBm. The minimum receiving power is -117 dBm. The radar would obtain the doppler frequency from the artillery, and calculate accurate velocity point and then estimate muzzle velocity. The performance test for this radar was done with 155 mm at barrel and tripod mounted, and also compared the performance with the reference radar. As a result, the performance of the our new radar is equal with the reference one.

A Study on the Design and Analysis of the Fuel Boost Pump Motor Assembly for an Aircraft (항공기용 연료승압펌프 모터 조립체 설계에 대한 연구)

  • The fuel pump, which is used for an aircraft, was first developed in Korea through the Civil-Military Dual Components Development Program. The BLDC motor type, which is superior to the DC brush motor when considering efficiency, endurance, and explosive environmental characteristics, was applied to the fuel pump given its capacity and operating condition. The magnetic flux of the permanent magnet was analyzed based on the magnet flux density equation, using the Maxwell equation and the environmental condition. The motor performance, according to the load, was analyzed using the finite element method in order to design validation. The motor assembly was developed by designing the motor drive and the EMI filters. The performance test results of the motor assembly for the fuel boost pump were consistent with the analysis.

  • A small satellite, DubaiSat-1 FM(Flight Model), which is based on SI-200 standard bus platform and scheduled to be launched in 2008, is being developed by Satrec Initiative and EIAST(Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology). The TCS(Thermal Control Subsystem) of DubaiSat-1 FM has been designed to mainly utilize passive thermal control in order to minimize power consumption, but the active control method using heaters has been applied to some critical parts. Also, thermal analysis has been performed for DubaiSat-1's mission orbit using a thermal analysis model. The thermal design is modified and optimized to satisfy the design temperature requirements for all parts according to the analysis result. The thermal control performance of DubaiSat-1 FM is verified by thermal vacuum space simulation, consisting of thermal cycling and thermal balance test. Also, to validate the thermal modeling of DubaiSat-1 FM, comparison of test results with analysis has been performed and model calibration has been completed.

  • In this paper, a $48{\times}64$ channel 2D array ultrasonic transducer with piezoelectric single crystals was designed, fabricated, and evaluated. Structure of the transducer was chosen to facilitate the electric connection on the planar array, and then components were fabricated in accordance with the structure. Detailed structure of the transducer was designed through finite element analyses. In order to improve the performance of the transducer, the crosstalk between adjacent elements was reduced through the control of kerf width and material, and the target frequency bandwidth was achieved through optimal design of the thickness of the single crystal and matching layers. After fabricating a prototype of the transducer according to the design and measuring its characteristics, the results were compared with those of finite element analyses to evaluate the performance of the developed transducer.

  • A gas generator which generates turbine driving gas by burning a part of propellants is used in an open cycle liquid rocket engine and as a main component of an open cycle liquid rocket engine autonomous hot firing tests are required to investigate the combustion performance and characteristics of the gas generator. However, since the combustion gas generated by a gas generator is choked at the turbine nozzle in the turbine manifold, it is necessary to consider the internal volume of turbine manifold as well as that of the gas generator for correct investigation of the combustion performance, characteristics, and acoustic characteristics of the gas generator. Therefore, in the paper hot firing test results of a gas generator with a turbine manifold simulator are described and characteristic prediction using the autonomous test of a gas generator is explained.

  • In this paper, the TWTA (Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier) maintenance system for the low altitude surveillance Radar was developed using the embedded Linux system, and its superiority was demonstrated through the performance test. Nowadays, the necessity of maintenance system and reliability testing on military equipments has been increasing steadily. In addition, nonlinear characteristics of the maintenance system for the low altitude surveillance Radar are more likely to have serious problems as well as to slow down durability. Therefore, after analyzing characteristics of RF input-output signal and TWTA, we designed interface circuits between the TWTA equipment and the embedded Linux system. The Linux kernel on the system was optimized to improve the efficiency and reliability. And our new TWTA maintenance system was evaluated in the real field. As a result, the proposed system was contented with desired specifications, and demonstrated military's fighting capabilities. Therefore, our novel system will advance military maintenance technology and will help to develop similar equipments.
