Machining Rate and Electrode Wear Characteristics in Micro-EDM of Micro-Holes (미세구멍의 미세방전 가공에서 가공율과 전극소모 특성)

  • Micro-EDM is widely used in machining of miro-parts such as micro-shafts and micro-holes. In order to select proper machining conditions and to reduce the machining time, it is necessary to understand machining characteristics under various machining conditions. Micro-hole machining tests were performed with round shape electrodes with different capacitances and voltages of the power source. The effects of the electrode rotational speed and diameter on the machining rate were also observed. From the experimental results, it was found that capacitance and voltage have significant effects on machining rate and the machined surface integrity. With higher capacitance and higher voltage, higher machining rate was observed together with poorer surface integrity. The electrode diameter was also found to have an effect on the machining rate and electrode wear.

  • This paper develops the compliance approach to the problem of load sharing between a cracked plate and a cover plate used to bridge the crack. The theory is validated by using calculated stress intensity factors for the covered and uncovered cases and by using stop hole method to reduce experimentally observed growth rates to a common base. Calculations are then made on the effect of cover plate width on fatigue crack retardation in order to demonstrate the predictive capability of the technique.

  • Ultrasonic machining technology has been developed over recent years for the manufacture of cost-effective and quality-assured precision parts for several industrial application such as optics, semiconductors, aerospace, and automobile. Ultrasonic machining process is an efficient and economical means of precision machining of ceramic materials. The process is non-thermal, non-chemical and non-electric and hardly creates changes to the mechanical properties of the brittle materials machined. This paper describes the characteristics of the micro-hole of $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$ by ultrasonic machining with tungsten carbide tool. The effects of various parameters of ultrasonic machining, including abrasives, machining force and pressure, on the material removal rate, hole quality, and tool wear presented and discussed. The ultrasonic Machining of micro-holes in ceramics has been under taken and the machining mechanism in the ultrasonic machining of ceramics based on the fracture-mechanics concept has been analyzed.

  • This paper is concerned with the vibration analysis of a rectangular plate with a rectangular hole. Even though there have been many methods developed for the addressed problem, they suffer from computational time. In this paper, we developed a new methodology called Independent Coordinate Coupling Method which can couple two independent coordinate systems for the entire plate domain and the hole. By matching the deflection condition imposed on the expressions, the relationship between the global axes and the local axes is derived. This formula is then used for the calculation of the eigenvalue problem. The numerical results show the efficacy of the proposed method.

  • Drilling is an indispensable process in manufacturing of the die and mould and the other mechanical parts which needs high dimensional and surface accuracy. In this paper, a new type of drilling method was proposed in order to improve both processing efficiency and accuracy. Specifically, the helical motion using ball end mill tools, instead of normal drilling method, was applied to perform an effective hole machining. In this paper, an theoretical background of the new type of drilling method was established, and the feasibility of the proposed theory was proved by experiments, where proposed drilling process in the paper gave a different machining specification than general method did.

  • 디지탈 윤전 등사기 또는 디지털복사 인쇄기(digital duplicator)라고 불리우는 사무용 소형 단색 윤전 인쇄기는 컴퓨터 스캐닝 기술과 스텐실 열천공 기술의 발달로 손쉽게 인쇄기상에서 자동복사 제판이 가능해 짐에 따라 우리나라에 1990년대부터 학교, 관공서, 군 및 교회등의 시험지와 홍보전단지 인쇄용으로 널리 보급되었다. 여기에 사용되는 잉크는 카트리지에 장착식으로 공급되는데, 에멀젼 잉크로서 천공으로 이루어진 스텐실 화상 뒷면으로부터 가압 통과되어 인쇄용지에 윤전식으로 인쇄된다. W/O형 에멀젼 잉크가 그 기본 전형이 된 것은 스텐실의 미세구멍을 통과하도록 큰 로라압력을 받아야 하는 잉크는 우선적으로 높은 점도이어야 하나 수십 마이크론의 미세구멍을 쉽게 빠져 나가도록 침투성이 빨라야 하는 이중적 레올로지 특성이 요구되기 때문이다. 그러나 에멀젼의 원천적인 불안정성과 물과 기름의 상호 대립적인 물리 \ulcorner화학적 특성을 주목하고 번짐, 얼룩, 배면침투, 광택문제, 건조성 지연 등의 인쇄품질을 향상시키고져 그동안 많은 연구개발이 노력이 있어 왔다. 이에 대하여 세계 시장을 크게 장악하고 있는 일본의 특허를 주로 검토하여 디지털 인쇄기용 W/O 에멀젼 잉크 기술 및 현황에 대해서 연구 조사하였다.

Slagging Effect of Combustion Gas containing Sulfur on Refractories (내화물에 대한 황함유 연소가스의 영향)

  • 본 연구에 있어서는 연료유의 연소에 의한 내화물의 부식을 연구하기 위하여 시멘트소성용 회전가마, 보일러 및 판유리제조용 탱크가마에 쓰이는 여러 내화물을 짤라서 그 가운데에 구멍을 파고 중유재의 주성분인 V2O5, Na2CO3, Fe2O3, Fe 및 황산철을 미리 그 구멍속에 넣어 응용 확산시킨 다음 이들을 그들의 상용온도인 145$0^{\circ}C$로 황 함유량이 다른 연류유로 소성하여 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 일반적으로 5산화 바나듐-알루미나, 고알루미나질 및 염기성 내화물; 산화나트륨-고알루미나질, 실리마나이트질 및 염기성 내화물은 2%미만의 황 함유 연류유소성에 의하여 부식이 적고 3.5%이상의 황하유 연료유소성시는 황에 의하여 대개가 침식을 당하였다. 무수 아황산 분위기속에서 규산알루미늄 및 구석계의 내화점토질내화물은 산화철이 환원되어 색이 연해지고 고알루미나질 벽돌은 색이 짙어지는 경향이 있고 산화철은 황산철로 변하여 풍화의 원인이 되어 침식을 당하게 되었고, 소성시간이 길면 길수록 부식은 증가하고 황산소다보다 탄산소다에 의하여 훨씬 더 많이 부식을 당하였다.

  • The constant flow control valve is used to control the flow rate of heating water in the large apartment complex and buildings. It is important to have similar heating flow rate in the apartments, even though the apartment is top or bottom floors. To achieve those purposes, the constant flow control valve was developed. The performance of this control valve is effected by hole area and discharge coefficients of the cartridge holes. The discharge coefficients of orifice hole in the cartridge were testes with various sizes of holes and various flow direction in the holes. The discharge coefficients decreased as the hole size increased due to the collision at the cartridge wall of water jet. The effects of the flow direction at the hole were not significant on the discharge coefficients.

  • 일반, 혹은 신경외과 의사가 작은 수술부위의 구멍을 통해 미세한 혈관수술 등을 할 때, 혹은 치과의사가 환자의 입을 통해서 입 속을 치료할 때, 수술 혹은 치료를 하는 대상의 크기는 굵은 혈관의 경우 지름이 30~40$\mu\textrm{m}$, 치아 속 신경의 역시 굵은 경우에 2.8$\mu$m 에 지나지 않는다. 그러나 일반적인 눈의 분해능은 1분인데, 이는 40cm의 거리에 있는 0.06mm 크기의 물체(9lp/mm)를 구분하는 능력이다. 특별한 광학장비 없이 물체에 가까이 감으로써 시력을 향상시킬 수는 있지만 단순히 가까이 다가가는 것만으로는 수술과 같은 섬세한 임상작업을 하는데는 제한이 많고, 특히 작은 구멍이나 좁은 관을 통해 가까운 물체를 볼 때는 양안 시차의 불일치(stereofocusing) 문제가 발생한다.   • The objective of this paper is to obtain stress intensity factor solutions for a corner crack originating at bolt holes in a rotating disc. Initially two-dimensional finite element analyses of a rotating disc with bolt holes are performed to determine the maximum stress region. Subsequently three-dimensional finite element analyses of a rotating disc with a corner crack originating at the bolt holes are performed with a variety of crack geometries. According to the numerical results, the maximum stress intensity factor, with an increase in crack depth ratio, was observed at the surface of the plate due to the interference effect of corner crack and disc bore.
