Evaluation of Removal Properties of Cu(II) from Aqueous Solutions by Inflated Vermiculites (팽창질석에 의한 수용액내의 구리 제거능 평가)

  • The main objective of this study was to examine the removal properties of Cu from water by inflated vermiculites. The component of vermiculites was analyzed by XRF and the concentration of Copper ion was measured by UV-VIS. Serial batch Kinetic tests and batch sorption tests were conducted to determine the removal characteristics for Cu in aqueous solutions. The result shows that removal rate, $K_{obs}$, of Cu are 0.73, 1.52, and 1.71 for initial pH 3, pH 4, pH 5, respectively, and are 3.19, 1.90, and 0.73 for the initial concentration of $1mg\;L^{-1}$, $5mg\;L^{-1}$, $10mg\;L^{-1}$, respectively. It leads to the conclusion that the removal rates are inversely proportional to the initial Cu concentration and are increased proportionally to the initial pHs. Finally, Sorption data were correlated with both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. As a result, Langmuir and Freundlich models were well fitted to batch isotherm data with good values of the determination coefficient. but the determination coefficient value for the Freundlich model fit was slightly higher than that of Langmuir model (0.965 for the Freundlich model and 0.936 for the Langmuir model). Using the Langmuir model, the maximum sorption capacity ($Q_{max}$), Freundlich partition coefficient, and the numerical value of n wrer estimated as $1,250mg\;kg^{-1}$, $635.1L\;kg^{-1}$ and 1.69, respectively. These results show that the inflated vermiculites could be used as an excellent adsorbent for copper contained in various types of aqueous solutions.

Study on Optical Characteristics of 8-Hydroxyquinoline Synthesized Derivative as Sensing Material of the Fiber-Optic Copper Ion Sensor in Aqueous Environment (수질환경에서 광섬유 센서의 구리 이온 감지 물질로서 8-Hydroxyquinoline 합성유도체의 광학적 반응 특성 연구)

  • An 8-hydroxyquinoline compound that was synthesized with 8-hydroxyquinoline-2-carboxaldehyde and 4-aminoantipyrine was investigated for use as the sensing material of a fiber-optic copper ion sensor in an aqueous environment. The experiment was conducted with a fiber-optic measurement system, in order to evaluate the relationship between the absorbance peak and copper ion concentration. The synthesized derivative exhibited a (highly selective) chromogenic phenomenon for copper ions among various metal ions in an aqueous environment and showed a specific absorbance peak at a wavelength of 530 nm for copper ions. The effect of mercury ions was investigated to evaluate the selectivity of the prepared synthesized derivatives toward Cu ions. The absorbance was measured at various concentration ratios of Cu and Hg ions (Cu:Hg ratios from 0.05 to 20), and it was found that the absorbance at 530 nm tended to increase with increasing Cu ion concentration. The experimental results also showed the linear relationship between the logarithmic concentration of copper ions and the specific absorbance peak at a wavelength of 530 nm. These results indicate that the synthesized 8-hydroxyquinoline compound has selectivity for copper ions and can be used as a sensing material for fiber-optic copper ion sensors.

Leaching behavior of copper using electro-generated chlorine in hydrochloric acid solution (전해생성(電解生成)된 염소(鹽素)에 의한 구리의 침출(浸出) 거동(擧動))

  • Leaching behavior of copper using electro-generated chlorine was investigated in hydrochloric acid solutions. When leached copper concentration was lower than 3.6g/L, the utilization efficiency of the electro-generated chlorine was close to 100% at $10mA/cm^2,\;25^{\circ}C$, 400 rpm in 1M HCl solutions. The concentration ot the leached copper over 3.6g/L caused the electrode potential to drop quietly, leading to a change or leaching mechanism. The leaching rate oi copper began to decrease at the concentration of copper 5.2g/L. This is probably due to the formation of a layer of CuCl on Cu metal in 1M HCl solutions. The leaching rate, however, was not retarded in a solution ot high chloride concentration. The high solubility of CuCl in the solution may prevent the formation of CuCl on Cu metal.

  • The leaching behaviors of copper from chalcopyrite were investigated by sulfuric acid. The leaching of copper was examined according to concentration of sulfuric acid, leaching temperature and addition of hydrogen peroxide and ethylene glycol. The concentrations sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide in the leaching solution were increased, the leaching efficiencies of Cu were increased. At $30 -60^{\circ}C$, the leaching efficiency of Cu was increased but it was decreased at $70 - 80^{\circ}C$. The results were due to the increasing of hydrogen peroxide decomposition in the solution above $70^{\circ}C$. In the case of ethylene glycol added at $80^{\circ}C$, the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide was decreased and the leaching efficiency was increased. As a result of SEM analysis of leaching residue after leaching, the residue was found to porous form in the case of the ethylene glycol added and then the leaching efficiency of Cu was increased by the increase of surface area under $60^{\circ}C$ with ethylene glycol.

Effect of Cu-resistant Pseudomonas on growth and expression of stress-related genes of tomato plant under Cu stress (구리-오염 토양에서 토마토 식물의 생장과 스트레스-관련 유전자 발현에 미치는 구리-내성 Pseudomonas의 영향)

  • Pseudomonas veronii MS1 and P. migulae MS2 have several mechanisms of copper resistance and plant growth promoting capability, and also can alleviate abiotic stress in plant by hydrolysis of a precursor of stress ethylene, 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) by ACC deaminase. In 4-week pot test for tomato growth in soil contained 700 mg/kg Cu, inoculation of MS1 and MS2 significantly increased root and shoot lengths, wet weight and dry weight of tomato plants compared to those of uninoculated control. The inoculated tomato plants contained less amounts of proline that can protect plants from abiotic stress, and malondialdehyde, an oxidative stress marker than those of control. ACC synthase genes, ACS4 and ACS6, and ACC oxidase genes, ACO1 and ACO4, both involved in ethylene synthesis, were strongly expressed in Cu stressed tomato, whereas significantly reduced in tomato inoculated with MS1 and MS2. Also, a gene encoding a metal binding protein metallothionein, MT2 showed similar expression pattern with above genes. All these results indicated that these rhizobacteria could confer Cu resistance to tomato plant under Cu stress and allowed a lower level of Cu stress and growth promotion.

Evaluation of 12nm Ti Layer for Low Temperature Cu-Cu Bonding (저온 Cu-Cu본딩을 위한 12nm 티타늄 박막 특성 분석)

  • Miniaturization of semiconductor devices has recently faced a physical limitation. To overcome this, 3D packaging in which semiconductor devices are vertically stacked has been actively developed. 3D packaging requires three unit processes of TSV, wafer grinding, and bonding, and among these, copper bonding is becoming very important for high performance and fine-pitch in 3D packaging. In this study, the effects of Ti nanolayer on the antioxidation of copper surface and low-temperature Cu bonding was investigated. The diffusion rate of Ti into Cu is faster than Cu into Ti in the temperature ranging from room temperature to 200℃, which shows that the titanium nanolayer can be effective for low-temperature copper bonding. The 12nm-thick titanium layer was uniformly deposited on the copper surface, and the surface roughness (Rq) was lowered from 4.1 nm to 3.2 nm. Cu bonding using Ti nanolayer was carried out at 200℃ for 1 hour, and then annealing at the same temperature and time. The average shear strength measured after bonding was 13.2 MPa.

  • We investigated chloride ion effects on anodic dissolution of copper using potentiodynamic method, cyclic voltammtery, chronoamperometry and chronocoulometry. The anodic dissolution reaction of copper in NaCl solution under argon atmosphere is $Cu+2Cl^{-}{\rightleftharpoons}{CuCl_2}^{-}+e^-$ and chloride ion adsorption process in copper surface can be explained by Temkin isotherm.

  • In order to simulate the leaching solution of copper sulfide ore in $FeCl_3$ solutions, synthetic solutions with composition of $FeCl_3$-$FeCl_2$-$CuCl_2$-CuCl-NaCl-HCl-$H_2O$ were prepared. The concentration of iron and copper chloride was varied from 0.1 to 1 m in synthetic solutions. The effect of composition on the mixed solution pH and potential at $25^{\circ}C$ was measured. When HCl concentration was constant, the increase of CuCl concentration increased solution pH. The increase of other solutes excluding HCl and CuCl decreased solution pH owing to the increase of the activity coefficient of hydrogen ion. A high CuCl concentration favored the redox equilibrium in the direction of Cu(I), while $FeCl_3$ had the opposite effect.

  • 구리는 낮은 비저항, 높은 열전도도, 우수한 electromigration(EM)저항특성 등을 바탕으로 차세대 nano-scale집적회로의 interconnect application에 적합한 금속재료로서 각광받고 있다. copper interconnect는 damascene process 를주로 이용하는데 CVD를 이용하면 step coverage가우수한 seed layer얻을 수 있어 고집적 소자의 구현이 가능하다. 최근에 비 균등화 반응(disproportionationreaction)을 이용하여 고 순도 구리박막을 제조하기위해 $\beta$-diketonate Cu(I) Lewis-base의 전구체를 많이 이용하는데 그중에서 hexafluoroacetylacetonate(hfac)Cu(I)vinyltrimethylsilane (VTMS)가 널리 이용되고 있다. 그러나 (hfac)Cu(I)(VTMS) 또는 유사계열의 전구체들은 열적안정성및 보관안정성이 부족하여 실제 양산공정에 적합하지 못한 단점이 있었다. 본 연구에 이용된 2가 전구체Cu(dmamb)2는 높은 증기압($70^{\circ}C$, 0.9torr)을 가지며 종래에 주로 이용하던 1가 전구체 (hfac)Cu(VTMS)에 비해 높은 활성화 에너지(~113 kJ/mol)를가짐으로서 열적안정성 및 보관안정성이 우수하다. 다른 한편으로 2가전구체는 안정성이 우수한 만큼 낮은 증기압을 극복하기 위해 리간드에 플루오르를 주로 치환하여 증기압을 높이는데 플루오르는 성장하는 박막의 접착력을약하게 하는 단점을 가진다. 하지만 본 연구에 사용된 Cu(dmamb)2는 리간드에 플루오르를 포함하지 않으며, 따라서 고품질의 박막을 용이한성장환경에서 제조할 수 있는 장점들을 제공한다. 비활성가스 분위기에서 2가전구체는 열에너지에 의해 리간드의 자가환원에따라 금속-리간드 분해가 발생한다. 하지만 수소분위기에서는수소가 환원제로 작용하여 리간드의 분해를 용이하게 하는 특징을 가지며 따라서 비활성분위기일 때 비해 낮은 성장온도를 가진다. 또한 수소는 잔류하는 리간드 및 불순물과 결합하여 휘발성화학종들을 생성하여 고순도의 구리박막제조를 가능하게한다.

Assessment of Body Condition in Amphibians Using Radiography: Relationship between Bone Mineral Density and Food Resource Availability (방사선 촬영 기법을 이용한 양서류 신체상태 평가: 골밀도와 먹이 자원 가용성 간의 상관 관계)

  • We measured the body composition, including bone mineral density (BMD) and food resource availability using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry and the carbon and nitrogen stable isotope ratios of body condition of 4 anuran species(Hyla japonica, Glandirana rugosa, Pelophylax nigromaculatus, Lithobates catesbeianus) in South Korea. Additionally, the carbon and nitrogen stable isotope ratios were employed to determine the food resource availability of anurans. We figured out the relationship between the body composition, including BMDs and food resource availability. The body composition and BMDs did not differ between male and female while there was difference among the species. Food resource availability and BMDs were the highest in L. catesbeianus, the lowest in H. japonica. BMDs tended to increase with higher food resource availability. Body composition and BMDs, which represent the body condition of an individual, can be used as an ecological indicator to assess the stability of the habitat of anurans.
