The subjects in this study were 160 students in dental laboratory technology at the University located in Chung-cheong and surveyed from November 2010 to December 2010. The finding of the study were as follows: The differences in oral care knowledge according general characteristics of subjects was statistically significant to the gender was higher in men than women, age was higher and higher the grade was higher in grade level(p<0.05). The differences in oral care knowledge according oral health status of subjects was statistically significant to regarding the frequency of tooth brushing was highest rate in five times, method was on the side tooth higher and using the dental floss and interdental brush are used by the higher availability(p<0.05). Thus, in the classroom oral health education and continuous learning from the people know that oral health care could differ. Oral health education in local communities to increase opportunities and people will need to improve oral health.

The following conclusions were obtained. 1. Experience in managing elderly patients' oral cavity and specialized education on the elderly patients while studying dental hygiene (department) manifested statically significant difference with the appropriate age of the Long-term care worker(p<0.01, p<0.05). Moreover, there was significant difference in the level of understanding on the Elderly Long-term Care Insurance System depending on the experience of volunteering and on whether they got specialized education on the elderly patients while working(p<0.01). 2. There was significant difference in the awareness of the Elderly Long-term Care Insurance System following interest in the health of the elderly patients' oral cavity(p<0.05, p<0.01, p<0.001).

  • Background: Preventive dental hygiene programs are phased oral health management practices tailored to the oral health conditions of individuals. These programs include preventive dental hygiene treatments and oral health education provided by dental hygienists to prevent oral diseases. This study aims to investigate dental hygienists' interest in and perceived necessity of preventive dental hygiene programs and provide essential data for their widespread adoption. Methods: The survey included 11 questions regarding participants' general characteristics, such as gender, age, educational level, work experience, employment type, working hours, type of workplace, job position, work location, and the number of dentists and dental hygienists at their workplace. Seven additional questions focused on program awareness and necessity, including previous training, program awareness, necessity and reasons for necessity, program implementation and required elements for implementation, and the potential for expanding job roles through the programs. Results: Among all respondents, 90.9% were aware of preventive dental hygiene programs, and 92.8% believed they were necessary. A total of 74.7% had received education on preventive dental hygiene programs, and those who had been educated were more likely to implement the programs than those who had not. Among dental hygienists who cited preventing patients' oral diseases as the primary reason for the necessity of these programs, 55.2% were actively implementing them-the highest rate among all respondents. Preventive dental hygiene programs were most commonly implemented in clinics with two or more dentists and six or more dental hygienists. When the importance of raising dental hygienists' awareness was emphasized, the program implementation rates were highest. Conclusion: This study suggests that dental hygienists' willingness to implement preventive dental hygiene programs plays a pivotal role in shaping the perspectives of dentists and patients, as well as in enhancing their economic evaluation.

  • This study examined living rehabilitation teachers of disability facilities in Kyungkido to determine the status of the personal and oral hygiene of the disabled. The results are as follows. First, the personal hygiene of residential disabled people was positively correlated with voluntary toothbrushing, recognition of the importance of toothbrushing, and finding of their own toothbrush. Second, the difficulties related to the oral hygiene practice of residents with disabilities were found to be carrying out abnormalities in their toothbrush and oral examinations at dental medical institutions. In addition, in the spontaneous performance, they did not do well in gum massage and in restraining sugary foods. Third, voluntary toothbrushing was positively correlated with training on toothbrushing, and toothbrushing for more than 3 minutes and the rolling method toothbrushing were positively correlated with the supplement of oral health materials. Therefore, a dental hygiene management program is required continuously for living rehabilitation teachers and the disabled.

  • To conduct this study, researchers personally visited two maternity hospitals, one public centers, and two gymnastics classes for pregnant women in some areas of Seoul from March 14 to April 28, 2005 to determine a simplified oral hygiene index to measure cleanness for 200 women in the twenty weeks and over of pregnancy in order to examine their oral health conditions and provide basic data for the future oral health care and education in oral hygiene for pregnant women and, consequently, drew the following conclusions. 1. Simplified oral hygiene index between early, middle, and late pregnancy. It was shown that the Early was 1.10±.91, Middle was 1.78±1.02, The simplified oral hygiene index of Late was 1.73±1.03. The simplified oral hygiene index of Total was 1.47±1.03, with a Food debris index 0.96±0.51 and a Calculus score 0.51±0.52. 2. There were statistically significant differences in the simplified oral hygiene index of both the upper and the lower jaws between early, middle, and late pregnancy (p < 0.01). It was shown that the Food debris index, Calculus score, and the simplified oral hygiene index all increased with the approach of delivery. 3. There were statistically significant differences in the simplified oral hygiene index of both the anterior and the posterior areas between early, middle, and late pregnancy (p < 0.01). It was found that the Food debris index, Calculus score, and the simplified oral hygiene index all increased with the approach of delivery.
