  • In this study, the amalgamative relationship associated with oral health belief and preventive behavior against oral disease subject to middle aged people was analyzed. 20 persons in their middle age living in U city were selected as final subjects for this analysis. It was found that a factor with the strongest effect on intention to prevent oral disease and preventive behavior among oral health belief was importance. In the study, it was identified that the parameters such as importance and benefit had a partial mediating effect on the intention to prevent oral disease and self-efficacy had complete mediating effect. Through these results, it seems necessary to develop an intervention program for middle aged people able to recognize importance and benefits of oral health by themselves in order to promote their oral health.

  • This study aims to understand the relationship between the awareness of oral health prevention and general characteristics by investigating the awareness of oral health prevention and to provide basic data to make oral health education guidelines for oral health prevention and the need for oral health prevention by analyzing factors that influence the awareness of oral health prevention. For about a month since December 2016, the data of 380 people aged 10 and over residing in Seoul and the Gyeonggi Province was gathered, and the following results have been obtained after excluding 19 people whose answers were insufficient. It was found that gender (female, p<0.05), age (50 years and over, p<0.05), educational background (high school diploma and university diploma or higher, p<0.05), average monthly income (KRW 3.0 million - 4.0 million, p<0.05), oral health importance (p<0.001), and awareness of the need for oral health prevention (p<0,001) among the selected independent variables had statistically significant effects on the awareness of oral health prevention. Considering the results above, I believe that it is important to develop oral health education programs, which reflect the characteristics of people in order to motivate them to perform prevention activities, rather than education programs about simply acquiring knowledge for prevention activities and to establish social conditions that can enable continued education, in order to increase the awareness of oral health prevention activities.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate effects of oral health education for occupational health nurses. The subjects were 300 occupational health nurses which participated in continuing education of Korean Association of Occupational Health Nurses. Oral health education contents consisted of basic knowledge about oral health, prevention of periodontal disease, oral health care for workers, and oral health program for workers. In order to evaluate the effects of oral health education, we performed questionnaire surveys before and after the education regarding their perceived oral health status and concern for oral health, knowledge about prevention of periodontal disease, attitude about oral health promotion, and needs for implementation of oral health promotion program. The data were analyzed by paired t-test to compare the change of knowledge and attitude according to the education. Linear regression analysis was carried out to assess the factors related to the improvement of their knowledge and attitude. The findings indicated that oral health knowledge and attitude of occupational health nurses were significantly improved by oral health education. A factor of the improvement of knowledge and attitude was concern for oral health. And they would like to be provided primarily oral health education for occupational health nurses. Finally, this study suggested that oral health education for occupational health nurses had significantly effects on improving oral health knowledge and attitude.

Effects Of Oral Health Awareness and Oral Health Behavior on Preventive Behavior of Cardiocerebrovascular disease in Cardiocerebrovascular Disease Risk Group

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of oral health awareness and oral health behavior on cardiocerebrovascular prevention behavior in a cardiocerebrovascular diseases risk group and provide basic data for a nursing intervention program for the group. Data were collected from 131 people in the risk group of cardiocerebrovascular diseases living in J Province in February and March of 2018. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that preventive acts were positively correlated with subjective oral health state (r=0.261, p=0.003), importance of oral health (r=0.250, p=0.004), and practice of oral health (r=0.303, p<0.001). Moreover, acts to prevent cardiocerebrovascular disease were influenced by oral health (${\beta}=0.29$, p<0.001), age (${\beta}=0.27$, p=0.001), and subjective oral health state (${\beta}=0.24$, p=0.003). Specifically, scores of preventive acts for cardiocerebrovascular diseases increased with higher degree of oral health behavior, older age, and better subjective oral health state. These variables had an explanatory power of 19.3%. The results of this study imply a need to prepare measures to enhance the oral health level of the risk group of cardiocerebrovascular diseases and conduct ongoing follow-up studies of the perception, attitude, and behavior of individuals toward oral health, as well as the state of oral health.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of incremental oral health care perceptions and experiences on oral health care performance by analyzing the results of incremental oral health care management for adults. As age increased, incremental oral health care experience is significantly higher. The results have shown that as age increases, interest in incremental oral health care becomes even higher. And, the group using secondary oral care products has significantly higher incremental oral care experience(p<0.05). Also, those who visit dental clinic regularly continue to experience incremental oral health care(p<0.05). In addition, the group that had experienced preventive dental services continued to be significantly highly relevant to oral health care(p<0.05). Based on the results of this study, it is possible to analyze the experience and influence of incremental oral health management and it can be used as basic data for the construction of incremental oral health care program in dental clinic.
