A Study of an Education Network Simulation Game for Democratic Citizenship Education (민주 시민 교육을 위한 교육용 네트웍 시뮬레이션 게임에 관한 기초 연구)

  • To solve modern social problems, it is important that improve the democratic citizenship quality of people. This quality includes the rational and democratic problem-solving capacity, decision-making capacity, democratic skills and attitudes such as human dignity, dialogue, compromise. To use an educational network simulation game that has the merits of game, simulatio and network will help children to improve the democratic citizenship educaiton. This study explorers the structure, flow, system, database, interface and teaching-learning tool for this educational network simulation game.

  • The educational computer game service, due to its entertainment role, is a very attractive tool for students to raise their interests in learning. Especially mathematics, the most difficult subject for many students, is one of the typical subjects in which the educational computer game service can be efficiently applied. Most of the previous game services is for single or two learners. And learner only have to simply submit a solution for the proposed math expression in the game. In this paper a multi-player game service based on TCP/IP socket programming technique is designed and implemented to join in the game for multiple learners. In addition, we design a game rule to improve learners' number sense by letting them arrange various ways to solve the problem. Finally, using the requirements of educational game service, we evaluate the proposed game service and its usability.

The Effects of Phonological Awareness Games using an Educational Robot on Young Children's Reading Abilities and Reading Interests (교육용 로봇을 활용한 음운인식 게임 활동이 유아의 읽기 능력과 읽기 흥미에 미치는 영향)

  • In this paper, we analyzed to find out the effects of phonological awareness game using teacher assisted robot on 5-year-old children's reading ability and reading interest. A total of 30 5-year-old children were equally divided into two groups: the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group conducted a total of 16 game activities using an educational robot twice a week for three weeks, the control group conducted the same 16 game activities without the robot during the same period. The results are as follows. Firstly, the experimental group was better in reading ability than that of the control group, especially total scores, word meaning, omission, and replacement. Secondly, the experimental group showed more interest in reading than the control group. From these findings, it can be suggested that phonological awareness games using the educational robot lay foundation to developing and enhancing on 5-year-old children's reading abilities and interest in reading.

  • One often thinks that those doing any activity on the Internet are likely to be addicted to it so that they tend to rather restrain the educational use of what the Internet can provide. However, the online edu-games deserve a good learning material which can not only provoke learners' interest but also draw out a smoother interaction between teachers and learners. Even the preliminary study on immersion verified that the Internet could work positively for the learners. Considering that online edu-games can be a useful tool for individual learning, more studies on immersion should be conducted focusing on the individualization in the future. This paper shows the differences among the components of learning immersion depending on the different individual cognitive styles in the online edu-games.

  • Recently, there has been an increasing interest of serious games escaping it's negative views on games in general, broadening and widening the area in the scopes of game field. Among these, educational serious games not only satisfy both the purpose of enjoyment and educational values, but also has been looking for new ways of distribution of the digital textbooks and utilizing them to the best of their potentials. This can change the ways we understand things by using the revitalization on the basis of serious game competitions. The purpose of this study was to analyze educational game and game competition and to develop the efficient management strategies.

  • 코딩교육과 게임을 활용한 교육에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 그러나, 코딩 교육 도구는 블록형 코딩 도구에 치우쳐져 있어, 교육과 실제 프로그래밍 언어 사이에는 큰 차이가 발생하게 된다. 이 차이를 좁히기 위해 이 논문에서는 한국어 인터프리터 언어를 사용한 학습용 게임의 설계 및 구현 방법을 제공하며, 한국어 인터프리터를 사용한 코딩 교육용 게임의 장점과 기존 코딩 학습 방법과의 차이점을 제시한다. 이를 통해 자발적이고 효과적인 코딩 교육을 기대할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 네트워크로 연결된 온라인상의 게임은 상호 작용이라는 특성을 통해 빠르게 성장하고 있다. 이와 함께 흥미로운 요소를 가진 있는 게임의 장점과 온라인 교육의 장점을 결합한 교육용 게임이 등장하고 있는 추세이다. 하지만 이러한 온라인 교육용 게임은 단지 게임과 교육을 결합 하는 것에만 치중하여 심층적인 학습이 이루어지지 못할 뿐만 아니라 인터페이스 또한 교육효과에 크게 영향을 미치지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 논문은 이러한 문제점에 초점을 맞추고 이를 위해 새로운 방법을 제안하였다. 교육의 방법에 있어서 퍼즐이라는 게임의 형식을 기반으로 세 단계 계층구조를 통한 지식전달의 체계를 제안하고 있으며 누구나 쉽게 접근 가능한 인터페이스 방법 또한 함께 제안하였다.

Learning Map as Omniscient View for Learning Interaction in Educational Games (교육용 게임의 학습 인터렉션을 위한 전지적 뷰로서 학습맵)

  • The learning by computer games, is in the spotlight as an effective education method for the game generation. The educational games need to provide additionally an omniscient view of the learning as an objective viewpoint for storytelling of learning. The omniscient viewpoint needs good readability in real-time, and to provide systematically overall and detailed informations of learning. In this paper, we propose the visual learning map as the omniscient view for storytelling of learning. The proposed learning map is composed of the district map, the topic map, and the progress map for the omniscient view of the learning. The proposed learning map is represented by several visual diagrams for real-time readability. The proposed learning map can apply to all the educational games which provide the game minimaps.

  • 현재 컴퓨터를 이용한 교육용 게임과 관련 프로그램들이 다양하게 개발되어 있다.그리고 프로그램의 교육적 효과와 흥미 유발을 위한 여러 가지 애니메이션 기법들이 발표되었다. 교육용 프로그램에서 애니메이션을 통한 사용자와의 상호작용은 교육 효과를 높이는데 매우 이상적인 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 컴퓨터가 아닌 가정용 패밀리 컴퓨터를 위한 몇 가지 애니메이션 기법을 구현하여 패밀리 게임을 개발하였다.
