Awareness and Performance of Physical Therapists on Nosocomial Infection (물리치료사의 병원감염에 대한 인식과 실천)

  • The aim of this study was conducted to investigate the level of awareness and performance of the physical therapists on nosocomial infection and evaluate potential factors as associated with awareness and performance in order to provide fundamental data for the development of program and policy on the prevention of it. The data were collected from 405 physical therapists. The research instrument was self-administered standardized questionnaire including general characteristics, education status, necessity of the education on nosocomial infection, and awareness and performance for prevention of nosocomial infection. Responses were determined as 5-Likert scales and data were summarized as percentage, mean and standard deviation. Data were analysed using independent t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficient(${\alpha}=0.05$). The results of this study show that most physical therapists have not received education on nosocomial infection. For this reason, they have a low level of the awareness and performance on nosocomial infection, but they strongly recognize the necessity of the program and education for the prevention of nosocomial infection. Thus, these program and education are needed in each college as an academic curriculum, as well as in hospitals.

  • It is needed to provide a supplicated and standardized training program for hospital coordinators to boost their competencies as professionals. The purpose of this study was to propose a standardized training program for hospital coordinators especially trained at private institutions. Using DACUM method, with 11 professionals, we first developed competencies required for hospital coordinators. They were service mind, attitude, MOT(Moment of Truth) & phone-call etiquette, communication skill, customer behavior, basic medical terminology, insurance, computer skills, etc. Finally, we proposed a standardized training program for hospital coordinators which covers 16 subject areas.

  • 병원은 1백50종의 다양한 직종이 팀웤을 이루어서 일을 하고 있다. 뿐만아니라 병원근무 직종중 전문직이고 지속적인 연수교육과 새로운 정보의 습득이 필수적이다. 이러한 병원직종의 전문성과 특수성 때문에 병원에는 전문분야별로 협회등 단체가 설립되고 지속적인 교육과 연수 정보 교환을 통해 업무능률을 향상시키고 있다. 본지는 이번호로부터 병원내 전문직단체를 소개함으로써 병원 직종간의 이해를 돕고 함께하는 병원인상 구현에 보탬이 되고자 한다.

Influencing factors on health education performance of nurse in health promoting hospitals (건강증진병원 간호사의 건강교육수행 영향요인)

  • This study aimed to identify the factors influencing health education performance of health promoting hospital nurses. The study was conducted with 231 nurses from four health promoting hospitals. Data were collected from May to June, 2013. Health education performance was positively correlated with education level, years of clinical experience, health promotion role recognition, and self efficacy for health education. Health promotion role recognition (${\beta}=.246$, p=.001), self-efficacy for health education (${\beta}=.282$, p <.001), and clinical experiences (${\beta}=.170$, p=.007) were significant predictors of health promoting hospital nurses' health education performance and explained 27.8% of the variance. The strategies to improve health promotion role recognition and self-efficacy for health education should be developed to improve health education performance of health promoting hospital nurses.

Education needs for clinical nursing practice using an Importance-Performance Analysis and Borich needs assessment model: Focused on nurses in the general wards of a tertiary hospital (Importance-Performance Analysis와 Borich 요구도 분석 방법을 활용한 임상간호실무 교육 요구도: 일개 상급종합병원 일반병동 간호사 대상)

  • Purpose: This study's aim was to confirm the importance and performance of the clinical practice of nurses working in the general wards of a tertiary hospital and to analyze their educational needs. Methods: The study employed a descriptive research design, and a self-reported questionnaire was developed and used for nurses in a tertiary hospital. Data were collected from July 22 to July 29, 2022, analyzed by an independent t-test, paired t-test, and one-way ANOVA for the importance and performance of each clinical nursing practice according to general characteristics, and then a post hoc verification was performed by Scheffé's test. An Importance-Performance Analysis and Borich needs assessment model were used to analyze clinical nursing education needs. Results: Clinical nursing practice performance showed a significant difference according to length of total clinical career, time working in current department, and preceptor experience. According to the results of the Importance-Performance Analysis, neurological evaluation, and nursing intervention, artificial respirator and high-flow oxygen inhalation nursing, chemotherapy, emergency nursing, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation were identified as belonging to the "concentrate here" quadrant. All these items ranked in the top 10 in the Borich needs assessment model. Conclusion: Based on these results, the current education system should be reviewed, and short and long term education strategies based on educational needs should be established to strengthen the competence of nurses.

The Study of the Improvement of Nursing Department Computer Education to the Adaptation for the Hospital Information System (병원정보시스템 적응을 위한 간호학과 컴퓨터 교육 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • This study show the improvement of the capability of the handling computer in the job to students in science of nursing though the investment of the capacity of the computer application and the realities of handling computer in real. A cause of the development of the Information Technology, currently in the view point of system management, the hospital works is manage by the HIS(Hospital Information System). The teaching of the computer application capability for the information in science of nursing must not be the one-way by supplier like one of the survey courses but must be adapted at real condition and to be focused to learner. Thus, we suggest that the education of the science of nursing should be changed from one of the survey courses to the education of the acquirement and experience on information system knowledge.

Study on Clinical Patient-oriented Education System for Medical Organizations (의료기관에서의 환자 중심 교육 시스템 연구)

  • Recent healthcare studies evaluate the effective impacts of a patient educational information intervention in hospitals on adherence to communicating knowledge, life quality, and therapeutic response in patients treated with highly active therapy in medical organizations. Therefore, the aim of this study is to design and implement the effective and systematic frameworks by providing clinical patient-oriented education system(CPES), which enhances health promotion and medical cures. CPES initiatives accelerate positive financial returns with network-driven educational system. To validate the CPES, the author analyzes the efficiency and effectiveness using statistical survey works. With this outcome, it is compared with previous system. One of the findings is that the system can improve compliance with treatment right dietetics and give patients self-manage their conditions in S hospital. Patients' acknowledge of their condition and its treatment process can be improved through the educational systems.
