Temperature Characteristics of the Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell Stack (용융탄산염형 연료전지의 스택구조와 온도특성)

  • Temperature characteristics in a stack of molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) have been investigated with simulation based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes and experimental way. The MCFC has generally two stack structures when the natural gas is used as fuel; one is the external reforming type and the other is internal reforming type. Computer simulation at the external reforming stack suggests that the maximum temperature in the stack depends on the gas flow length. The 2 kW MCFC stack with 25 cm gas flow length showed about $675^\circ{C}$ of maximum temperature.

  • This paper describes a design method and characteristics analysis of the 3 kW grid-connected photovoltaic power generation system to establish the basic application technology of photovoltaic systems. The design specification of a 3 kW photovoltaic power generation system including a DC/AC inverter is suggested to investigate the system performance for grid connection. The results of the demonstration test from February to October show that the system with utilization rate up to 17% has reliable operation characteristics and is useful for peak-shaving of utility power.

  • 본 고에서는 전력사업용 특고압 연계 태양광 발전시스템의 실계통 연계운전 특성에 대하여 기술하고자 한다. 본 설비는 150 kVA급 PCS 및 모듈 용량 122.5 kWp의 용량으로 2005년 8월 25일부터 태안발전본부 구내에서 상업운전 중에 있으며, 발전설비 이용율은 12.71 %, 소내 소비율 평균 6.66%로 분석되었으며 특별한 문제점 없이 정상적으로 운전되고 있다.

  • In June, 1957, a rabid wolf near Chinju, Korea attacked and bit 18 persons, and the resulting epidemiologic observations are summarized as follows: (1) Five of 18 persons bitten died of rabies. (2) Ten persons were exposed by bites on the head, of which 5 received Pasteur treatment, and 5 did not. The rabies mortality ratios for these 2 groups were 5:3, and 5:1 respectively. (3) Of 8 persons bitten on the extremities, only one of 5 not receiving Pasteur treatment died of rabies. (4) The incubation period lasted 13 to 17 days, and the clinical course 1 to 2 days.

  • Molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) power plant is expected to be one of the most promising future power generation system for the electric utilities because of its high efficiency, environmental suitability and capability of using coal as fuel. To get such attractive performance, it is necessary to consider optimizing operation and gas recycling system. This paper describes the simulation results of 7 kW MCFC stack in KEPRI and the effects of the three possible gas recycling operations, i.e. cathode gas recycling, anode gas recycling, anode gas recycling with catalytic burner.

  • In this paper, a operating characteristics of the 50 kW grid-connected Photovoltaic(PV) Power system which is by means of initial PV datum analyzing is reported. The development of a 50 kW class photovoltaic power generation system including a DC/AC inverter is suggested to investigate the system performance for grid connection. The results of the demonstration test of a 50 kW class grid-connected PV system show that the system utilization rate is 15.6% and the inverter efficiency is 94% at 80% load.

  • Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell (MCFC) with high electrical efficiency and low environmental effect has been developed for the commercial application of power generation fields. Recently we have built a 25 kW molten carbonate fuel cell power generation system and tested it. The MCFC system is composed of diverse peripheral units such as reformer, pre-heater, water purifier. electrical loader, gas supplier, and recycling systems. The stack itself was made of 40 cells of $6.000 cm^2$ area each. The stack showed an output of 28.6 kW power and a reliable performance at atmospheric operation. while in pressurized operation the stack showed an output 25.6 kW lower than the atmospheric operation. The reason of lower performance of pressurized operation was caused from a gas cross over shown in few cells in the stack.

  • This paper was analyzed the high-frequency harmonics, power conversion rate, results of the system's monitor, and measuring data of the system power output of a 3-phase photovoltaic power system for grid-connection. The photovoltaic power system consists of a 3-phase inverter array, and data acquisition system. The result of an analyzing data of the 50 kW class grid-connected photovoltaic system showed the stable behavior in utility-interactive operation.

  • 신 발전 방식들 중 하나인 용융탄산염형 연료전지 발전시스템 개발과 관련하여, 연료전지로부터 생성된 전력을 전력계통에 안정되게 변환, 주입하기 위한 계통연계형 전력변환기를 설계하고 단위기기별 성능 시험을 수행한 결과이다. 100kW급 전력변환기의 구조 설계에 있어서는, 100kW급 용융탄산염형 연료전지 시스템의 정격 사양 및 스택의 운전 형태에 따라 새로운 시뮬레이션 결과의 검토를 통해 DC/DC 컨버터부, 정류부, 인버터부의 회로 구성을 확정하고, 각 부에 사용될 소자들을 연료전지 출력 및 운전 사양에 맞게 설계하였다.

  • This paper shortly describe the R&D results for developing of 250 kW externally reforming MCFC (Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell) CHP proto type. Conceptual Design and basic design were alredy completed and stack which was adapted new separator and components also prepared for operation and evaluation. In parallel with stack and system development, BOP such as PCS, blower, catalytic combustor and Reformer also designed and fabricated for evaluation. The system will be fabricated by the end of 2008 and operate and evaluate in 2009.
