교사의 학생평가 전문성 구성 요인은 1990년에 미국의 AFT(American Federation of Teacher), NEA(National Education Association), NCME(National Council on Measurement in Education)가 공동으로 발표한 ‘학생 평가를 위한 교사의 평가전문성 기준(Standards for teacher competence in Educational Assessment of Student)’ 7가지를 연구자가 진단 도구 개발에 적합하도록 ${\circled1}$평가 방법의 선정, ${\circled2}$평가 도구의 개발, ${\circled3}$평가 실시?

  • Recognizing the necessity of content-centered teacher professional development programs in a rapidly changing educational environments, this study analyzed the contents of teacher professional development programs in terms of teachers' participation by program contents and teachers' perception of the necessity and the effectiveness of such program contents. Employing Teaching and Learning International Survey(TALIS), this study analyzed the perception of 4,000 Korean secondary school teachers. The results showed that the programs with the highest teacher participation were mainly subject-centered while the teacher participation rates on the newly required contents such as ICT, intercultural counseling, school management and administration, and new job skills were low. Besides, when teachers were asked to identify the content areas where teacher professional developments are needed, the level of teachers' perception of the programs with low participation rates was accordingly low. Lastly, this study implies that since the years of teaching experience serve as a determinant on the types of the contents that teacher professional developments are needed and on the teachers' perception of the effectiveness of such contents, the course of teacher development should be taken into consideration when the contents of teacher professional development programs are developed.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out what their professionalism is and how their expertise grows among Christian alternative school teachers. Professionalism refers to the broad expertise such as specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for a particular profession. The teacher expertise is also closely related to the life cycle of a teacher. The present study collected and analyzed the data using a mixed research method that combined a survey and interview. The survey, which involved 276 Christian alternative school teachers, asked about the current teacher's interest, the importance and retention of each element of professionalism, and, in addition, the level of external efforts and help in developing professionalism. The in-depth interview was conducted on 7 Christian alternative school teachers and identified the meaning of teacher professionalism, teacher quality and competencies, and environment for the professional growth. The results reveal that the professionalism recognized by Christian alternative school teachers is rather complex. It includes communication and relationship, calling and identity in addition to the curriculum and instruction expertise that reconstructs the curriculum from a Christian perspective. It is further found that teachers' decision to respond to the calling, subsequent continuous self-development, the teacher community that embodies such calling and efforts, and the school environment where autonomy and responsibility coexist, are equally important for their professional growth. Thus, in order to promote the professionalism of Christian alternative school teachers more effectively in the future, it would be necessary to provide programs that take the teacher's whole life cycle into account and are also directed to teachers themselves rather than to institutions. Considering the emphasis on the expertise in communication and relations, pre-service teacher education should focus not only on developing subject matter expertise, but also fostering communication and relational skills with students and other school community members.

  • This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the mathematics teacher's training program: whether the training program is effective to improve mathematics teachers' professional competency of the developing assessment instrument (including items) or not. The teachers who were attendee of the program did pre-test before the program and post-test after the program. They wrote the opinions on the pre-developed items which had many errors in the beginning and discussed their opinions each others in the middle of program. The differences between pre-test and post-test and between opinions in the beginning and in the middle were analysed. The first result of the study is that the teacher's professional competency which is evaluated as self-perceived points is improved with regard to understanding the standardized test, item difficulty and item discrimination. Secondly, the proportion of the opinion with concrete reasons is increased as the program progressed. Thirdly, the effective elements of the program are the discussion in the group, discussion between groups, and feedback from the instructor. But the ineffective element of the program is the insufficient time for practicing.

  • In this research, we investigated the support system and professional development in teaching practices of beginning science teachers through instructional consulting. Using open-ended interviews with the participating teachers and group discussions taking place on a regular basis to analyze and compare classes of six beginning teachers, we analyzed beginning teachers' professional development efforts centering around their teaching practices. The group discussion consisted of 6 beginning teachers and another 6 experienced teachers, they discussed and cross-analyzed beginning teachers' 9th lessons on middle school science unit, 'Work and Energy.' The characteristics of beginning science teachers' professional development drawn from this research are: (1) beginning teachers' teaching practices they were taught, (2) lack of reflection on their teaching practices, (3) no guidance for beginning teachers regarding ways to teach, (4) lack of communication between teachers about teaching science, and (5) lack of time for instructional preparation due to other heavy workload. Suggestions for ways to improve and support beginning teachers' professional development are discussed with experienced teachers. Required conditions for an effective induction program are also discussed.
