The purpose of this study was to provide Apparel Industries producing the school uniform with the information on manufacturing the school uniform, and the students with the information of reasonable life of garments. Differences of reforming condition and satisfaction of the school uniform have been researched. The data were collected from 764 middle and high school girl students living in Daegu. Except for psychological aspect of wearing the uniform, most of satisfaction of wearing the uniform in the survey has been studied as lower ones. in line with these, overall improvement of aesthetic, economic, handling, class symbolic, movable aspects are requested to meet the needs of the students. A majority response of reforming the school the uniform once have come from middle school students, and another response of reforming the uniform twice coming from high school students are as follows : fitness of the uniform, trend, movability, expression of personality, and those of high school students are fitness of the uniform, expression of personality, trend, movability. Opportunities to have an education on how to wear school uniform appropriately have not been offered to students, and a number of the students in the survey have replied that they need to have adequate school uniform wearing education.

The purpose of this study was to examine how high school girl students used their school uniforms and what types of ornaments they preferred, in an effort to identify the image of school uniform. The result of this study were as follow: First, 52.6 percent of the students investigated altered their uniforms, and as fur the major alteration style, revival one to take them in to be well-fitting was dominant. But concerning skirts, hip-hop style was also found. The students viewed ornaments more favorably, as the larger group of the students perceived that it was necessary to restrict the school-uniform alteration yet not to control ornaments. Concerning how much they wore school uniforms, most of them continued to wear them outside school in many cases. Specifically, those who engaged in pastime or went shopping wearing school uniforms enjoyed altering them, and they also enjoyed using ornaments that weren't allowed by the school dress code. Second, as to school-uniform image, elegant image was most preferred, followed by practical, innocent and fashion-conscious ones. They were most preferred with its elegant image. Third, as to ornaments image, they were most preferred with its positive image.

본 연구는 중고 청소년을 대상으로 하여 외모에 대한 태도의 정도가 교우 및 교사와의 관계, 학습 적응 정도, 그리고 교칙준수와 같은 전반적인 학교생활에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 파악함으로써 학교생활 지도와 가정 교과의 의생활 영역의 기초자료를 얻고자 하였다. 조사대상자는 광주광역시 남, 여 중 고등학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며 총 481부를 최종 자료로 사용하였다. 자료 분석은 통계패키지 SPSS/PC WIN 14.0 프로그램을 사용하였으며, 연구문제를 해결하기 위해 기술 통계, t-검증, 일원배치 분산분석(One-Way ANOVA), Duncan-test, 신뢰도 분석(Cronbach's ${\alpha}$), 요인분석(Varimax 회전), Pearson의 상관 분석, 중다회귀분석을 실행하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 결과를 종합해 보면 학교적응을 위해서는 청결관리를 강조하여 생활지도가 이루어져야 할 것이며 교우 관계의 적응을 위해서는 친구들 사이에 유행하는 스타일 추구나 외모관리경험을 허용하는 것도 도움이 될 것이다. 또한 학교 규율 적응을 위해서는 외모불만을 조절하고 청결관리를 강조하며 학습적응을 위해서는 청결관리를 강조하되 최신 유행을 따르며 교복을 변형하는 등의 스타일추구를 제한하는 것이 도움이 될 것으로 생각된다. 특히 성적이 중하위권 이하인 여자 고등학생의 교사와의 관계, 학교규율 적응과 학습적응을 위해서는 스타일추구나 외모관리감정을 조절할 수 있도록 지도하며 도움을 줄 수 있는 프로그램의 개발이 필요하다.
