A Study on the Eccentricity Compensation of Optical Disk Using a Wavelet Neural Network (웨이블릿 신경 회로망을 이용한 광디스크 드라이브의 편심 보상에 관한 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 광학 디스크 기기의 주기적인 외란인 편심 보상을 위해 웨이블릿 신경 회로망 기반 외란 모델로 구성된 순방향 오차 제거(feedforward error rejection) 방법을 제안한다. 신호 모델링 방법으로 사용되어진 신경 회로망 모델의 단점인 실시간 처리 능력 및 국부 최소치로의 가능성 등을 극복하며 주파수와 시간 영역에서의 우수한 신호 해석 능력을 가진 웨이블릿 변환의 장점을 가진 웨이블릿 신경 회로망을 이용하여 디스크의 외란을 모델링 한다. 웨이블릿 신경회로망은 경사 강하법 (gradient descent method)을 이용하여 학습하며, 본 논문에서 제안한 방법의 효율성을 검증하기 위해 실제 광학 디스크 기기의 외란 데이터를 이용한 컴퓨터 모의 실험을 수행한다.

  • DVD 비디오와 차세대 DVD의 한 진영인 HD-DVD 비디오 디스크는 다른 광 디스크와 마찬가지로 스크래치와 같은 결함이 발생할 수 있다. 결함은 물리적/논리적 원인에 따라 분류 가능하다. 결함은 디스크의 내부구조(네비게이션 데이터와 프리젠테이션 데이터)의 위치에 따라 각각 다른 이상 동작 현상을 발생 시킨다. 본 논문에서는 결함으로 인한 이상 동작 현상을 분류하고, 복구 또는 회피 할 수 있는 알고리즘을 제안하여 DVD/HD-DVD 비디오 디스크를 사용하는데 있어 결함으로 인한 불편함을 최소화하는데 목적이 있다.

  • In this paper, we design the new high-speed seek algorithm which can access the data of disk (in 3.5-inch optical disk drive). When seek the target track on optical disk in high-speed using the ref-T. E(Reference Tracking Error) and sample pulse signal, it's always possible high-speed seek without re-check and compensation for error by the ref_T. E and sample pulse signal. The performance test result is represented as follow ; it is satify the average seek time of 28mses.

  • The present study conducted heat transfer analysis in multi-layer of CD-R. It is necessary to analyze heat transfer during the recording process to find optimum power and write strategy in CD-R. This study investigated effects of several parameters such as recording speed, laser power, layer thickness and thermal property. The calculated results presented temperature distribution in the multi-layer and detailed information of recording characteristics. Optimum laser power was estimated, comparing an optimum mark length with the calculated mark lengths. The results showed that the optimum laser power was influenced significantly by the layer thickness and the thermal properties of the dye.

  • The optical storage device has recently experienced significant improvement, especially for the aspects of high capacity and fast transfer rate. However, it is necessary to study a new shape of air bearing surface for the rotary type actuator because the optical storage device has the lower access time than that of HDD (Hard Disk Drives). In this study, we proposed the air bearing shape by using SA (Simulated Annealing) algorithm which is very effective to achieve the global optimum instead of many local optimums. The objective of optimization is to minimize the deviation in flying height from a target value 100nm. In addition, the pitch and roll angle should be maintained within the operation limits.

  • In this study, experimental tests for driving noise of various optical disk drives (ODD) have been performed using 1/2' microphone noise measurement system. Several new and old ODD models by different manufacturers are practically considered and compared far realistic driving conditions. Sound insulation case with absorbing material fur the present experimental tests is designed and constructed using CATIA system. It is found that average data transfer rate, operating RPM, and sound noise level seems to be different for the same opposed speed ODD by different manufacturers. Moreover, driving sound noise level can be largely affected by both tray shape and driving speed even for the same apparent data transfer rate.

  • In this paper, the various uncertainties, which are generated in working of an optical disk drive, are discussed in details and the robust servo design considering the uncertainties are discussed. First, the classification of the uncertainties and the modeling process including that are treated. Then, the robust servo designs using QFT and $H_{\infty}$ theory are performed. Finally, the designed servo loops realized by DSP are applied to the real system. From these experiments, we proved that the robust servo design using QFT and $H_{\infty}$ have a good performance and a good robust stability when it compared with the conventional servo loop.

  • In designing the tracking system of an optical disc drive, it is first necessary to eliminate the undesired influence of any visible mechanical vibrations. In this paper a geometrical method to analyze the frequency response of an elastically supported planar rigid body has been presented. Using the theory of screw, a geometrical expression of a compliant transfer function which describes the effects of the locations of an applied force and observation on the response has been derived. Applying the substructure synthesis method, a technique to stabilize the tracking mechanical system has been presented with a numerical example.
