Study of emoticon as an emotional sign under the digital communication environment (디지털 커뮤니케이션 환경에서 감성기호로서 이모티콘에 관한 연구)

  • The communication environment made by digital technologies has made it possible to exchange information and deliver messages fast and easily among people of various classes in virtual space beyond time and space. Net-generation, who is accustomed to this virtual space, couldn't be satisfied with the linear text-oriented language any more, and began to make signs by use of computers in order to differentiate itself from others and to express its desires. Among the signs, emoticon created by joint of popular culture and digital communication centering around young generation is a new visual sign and emotional sign that can deliver a sender's feelings contained in a message. This paper has studied social phenomena, their relationships with emoticon and background of its creation through documentary review of media development, changes in the communication environment and popular culture. Furthermore, it has analyzed the meaningful action and roles of emoticon as a sign in terms of semiotics and also, studied a possibility of using emoticon as a new emotional sign. The study results say that emoticon can play the roles of a non-linguistic sign just like general signs that make mutual exchange through meaningful action, and also that it can be used to effectively deliver messages not only in virtual space, but also in advertising, posters, magazines and CI. However, emoticon is better at emotional expressions yet than other textual signs or visual signs, but in order to position itself as a universal and popular sign, emotional expressions should be clear, any difference in understanding messages should be removed, and message delivery should be more efficient.

  • Even though the notion exists that wall paper has got a short durability for interior decoration in terms of paper's nature, it can be the most important element among the modern dosing wall papering because of the variation of the walls visual effect. Wall paper hasn't been preserved well according to the paper's character and official records haven't been done well. So, by studying a case in which a room is maintained well, seeing various commercial samples which were used for an advertisement and reading several booklets it is possible to study historical evidence. In regard to wall paper and Papering. data, the commercial historic nature of the traditional wall papering has been recognized again in order to study the root of the technical and commercial background. In theory, the historic background research of traditional wall paper in the past is said to have established its theoretical system and the development of modern wall papering in the middle of Britain in 18th century. Through the theoretical study of wall papering, the following things have been researched: handling don the method of the traditional wall papering and lining paper, stylization of pattern by using the method of continual linking, subdivision of commercial cost and specialization of wallpaper, handing down the past traditional adhesion method, the origin of string wallpaper, utility of traditional wallpaper and its various abilities, the change from the face to face linking to duplicated linking, the development of DIY products by women's wallpaper selections. Put against other materials, wallpaper remains the most popular and preferable product for managing a wall and provides a decorative, wall dosing technique. This study can estimate the source of wallpapering history in order to create a systemic approach towards the future's wallpaper industry. This is very important data in order to establish a theoretical system of traditional wallpapering according to its historical research about wallpapering skills and its commercial aspect.

  • Keiji Kobo is a unique self-generated design research group in Japan, which was founded in 1928 when Bauhaus movement was in its peak, and which lasted ten years until the end of the Second World War, when any activity of the group became virtually impossible due to the war. With insight to see the future, the group aimed at Modern Design advocating a new spirit in architecture, and played a significant role in prosperity of Japanese Modern Design assimilating Western design trends. Pursuing of craft works for everyday life--practical furniture works--Keiji Kobo actively executed various projects to realize modern philosophy. The range of the works of this group was very large: survey, mock-up, experiment, research, exhibition, lecture, order-based sale, advertising and writing. The works of the group were oriented to serious academicism, not compromising with commercialism. Considering the peculiar political situation such as Japanese Militarism, the spirit of functionalism that the group pursued was surprisingly academical and pure. This group was relatively small and clumsy, which lasted as short as around ten years. However, strong motivation was in their seemingly quiet movements, and the influence of the group cannot be underestimated even with today's criteria. There were a number of pioneers who contributed to today's prosperity of Japan and Keiji Kobo can be estimated to be one of the pioneers in the field of design. It was found that the contemporary intellectuals hoped that the committment and activity of the group would contribute to modernization of the life quality of ordinary people. In a sense, Keiji Kobo can be estimated to be a little Japanese equivalent for Bauhaus that could not fully bloom.

Emotion-based Video Scene Retrieval using Interactive Genetic Algorithm (대화형 유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 감성기반 비디오 장면 검색)

  • An emotion-based video scene retrieval algorithm is proposed in this paper. First, abrupt/gradual shot boundaries are detected in the video clip representing a specific story Then, five video features such as 'average color histogram' 'average brightness', 'average edge histogram', 'average shot duration', and 'gradual change rate' are extracted from each of the videos and mapping between these features and the emotional space that user has in mind is achieved by an interactive genetic algorithm. Once the proposed algorithm has selected videos that contain the corresponding emotion from initial population of videos, feature vectors from the selected videos are regarded as chromosomes and a genetic crossover is applied over them. Next, new chromosomes after crossover and feature vectors in the database videos are compared based on the similarity function to obtain the most similar videos as solutions of the next generation. By iterating above procedures, new population of videos that user has in mind are retrieved. In order to show the validity of the proposed method, six example categories such as 'action', 'excitement', 'suspense', 'quietness', 'relaxation', 'happiness' are used as emotions for experiments. Over 300 commercial videos, retrieval results show 70% effectiveness in average.

디지털홈서비스의 수용에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 실증연구

  • 본 논문은 디지털홈서비스의 실제 이용자들에 대한 실증분석을 통해 수용에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 밝히기 위한 연구이다. 디지털홈서비스의 특성에 맞게 기술수용모형(TAM)을 확장, 수정된 연구모형을 개발, 가설을 설정하여 분석하였다. 외부변수로 이용자의 특성을 채택하였으며, 디지털홈서비스가 가정 내 기술임을 고려하여 신념변수로 '지각된 이용용이성'과 '시각된 즐거움'외에 '지각된 편의성', '지각된 안전성', '지각된 삶의 질 향상'이라는 변수를 추가하였고 종속변수로는 '이용행동'을 설정하였다. 205명의 실제 이용자를 대상으로 한 설물조사 중 201개의 유효표본을 분석하였고, 신뢰성과 타당성 모두 통계적으로 적합한 것으로 나타났다. Cigarette price rise induced change in youth smoking rate (담배가격 인상에 따른 청소년 흡연율 변화)

  • This study investigated changes in the youth smoking rate and smoking cessation rates before and after a cigarette price increase in 2015. Specifically, the changes in smoking rate, smoking cessation attempt rate, selection rate and amount of smoking were investigated using primary data pertaining to Korean Youth Risk Behavior obtained from a web-based survey of youth general characteristics, mental health, subjective grade, drinking and smoking related characteristics before and after a cigarette price increase. To accomplish this, 800 middle school and high school students in 9th (2013), 10th (2014), 11th (2015) were surveyed. The current youth smoking rate was slightly decreased from 9.7% in 2013 to 9.2% in 2014, while the smoking rate in 2015 decreased significantly by 15.2% after the cigarette price increased to 7.8%. These results confirmed that increasing cigarette price is very effective at decreasing youth smoking rate, providing motivation to stop smoking and preventing smoking. The prevention of smoking and inducement to stop smoking during adolescence is very important because the majority of teenage smokers continue smoking into their adulthood. In addition to expanding a completely non-smoking area and a comprehensive ban on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship should be urgently sought, and the effect can be maximized when the WHO FCTC faithfully implements the already-founded treaty.

A DID-Based Transaction Model that Guarantees the Reliability of Used Car Data (중고자동차 데이터의 신뢰성을 보장하는 DID기반 거래 모델)

  • Online transactions are more familiar in various fields due to the development of the ICT and the increase in trading platforms. In particular, the amount of transactions is increasing due to the increase in used transaction platforms and users, and reliability is very important due to the nature of used transactions. Among them, the used car market is very active because automobiles are operated over a long period of time. However, used car transactions are a representative market to which information asymmetry is applied. In this paper presents a DID-based transaction model that guarantees reliability to solve problems with false advertisements and false sales in used car transactions. In the used car transaction model, sellers only register data issued by the issuing agency to prevent false sales at the time of initial sales registration. It is authenticated with DID Auth in the issuance process, it is safe from attacks such as sniping and middleman attacks. In the presented transaction model, integrity is verified with VP's Proof item to increase reliability and solve information asymmetry. Also, through direct transactions between buyers and sellers, there is no third-party intervention, which has the effect of reducing fees.

A Study on the Factors to Customers Attitude for the Goods and Service Introduced in Review UGC (체험형 1인 미디어콘텐츠에서 소개하는 상품에 대한 소비자 태도 영향요인 연구)

  • This study analyzed the factors to customer attitude on the goods and service introduced in UGC(User Generated Contents) and explored the difference between Korean and Chinese customers. For the first research question, the hypothetical factors were selected through literature review, the area of which are media consumption, social media and effect of advertising. In this study examined 4 independent variables: information, reliability, BJ attractiveness and customer innovation. Methodologies are confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis and multi regression. Result showed that reliability, BJ attractiveness and customer innovation are statistically significant. According to the β value, the biggest one is customer innovation, the second one is BJ attractiveness and the third one is reliability. The influence of information on customer attitude is not statistically significant. The result is well-aligned with the prior studies. The information factor's influence, however, is disputable because some prior studies shows that it is not significant when the research samples are recently developed channel such as mobile or social media commerce platforms. It is necessary to identify the root causes why the information factor is not significant in some research cases. For the second research question, this study used independent t-test between Korean and Chinese customers. The result shows that the difference in reliability, BJ attractiveness and attitude are stastically significant, and the ratings of Chinese customers are higher. This result caused by the difference of media commerce environment between Korea and China. Information and customer innovation didn't show significant difference.

Youtube Mukbang and Online Delivery Orders: Analysis of Impacts and Predictive Model (유튜브 먹방과 온라인 배달 주문: 영향력 분석과 예측 모형)

  • One of the most important current features of food related industry is the growth of food delivery service. Another notable food related culture is, with the advent of Youtube, the popularity of Mukbang, which refers to content that records eating. Based on these background, this study intended to focus on two things. First, we tried to see the impact of Youtube Mukbang and the sentiments of Mukbang comments on the number of related food deliveries. Next, we tried to set up the predictive modeling of chicken delivery order with machine learning method. We used Youtube Mukbang comments data as well as weather related data as main independent variables. The dependent variable used in this study is the number of delivery order of fried chicken. The period of data used in this study is from June 3, 2015 to September 30, 2019, and a total of 1,580 data were used. For the predictive modeling, we used machine learning methods such as linear regression, ridge, lasso, random forest, and gradient boost. We found that the sentiment of Youtube Mukbang and comments have impacts on the number of delivery orders. The prediction model with Mukban data we set up in this study had better performances than the existing models without Mukbang data. We also tried to suggest managerial implications to the food delivery service industry.

A Study on the Relationship between Virtual influencer Attributes, Imitation Intention, and Usage Intention (가상 인플루언서의 속성과 모방의도, 이용의도의 관계에 관한 연구)

  • This study attempted to examine the effect of virtual influencer, which is highly interested in consumers, and has recently been increasing the frequency of use in corporate marketing activities. In particular, the purpose is to examine the effect of the attributes of virtual influencer on consumers as an information source for a product or brand. To this end, the effect of perceived attractiveness, trustworthiness, and expertise of virtual influencer on SNS usage intention and imitation intention consumers was examined. As a result of the study, it was found that attractiveness among the attributes of virtual influencer had a positive effect on the usage intention, and attractiveness and trustworthiness had a positive effect on imitation intention. In addition, it was found that imitation intention had a positive effect on usage intention. In other words, the perceived attractiveness of virtual influencer by consumers through SNS is the most important attribute. These findings imply that when virtual influencer is used in marketing, companies must perceive the attractiveness of virtual influencer through content posted on SNS as well as their attributes as information sources. We expect the results of this study to provide major implications for marketing activities such as companies and public institutions that consider using virtual influencer.
