RSS Service Method Using the User's Concerned Area and the QoS of Wireless Devices (사용자의 관심영역과 무선 단말기의 QoS를 고려한 RSS 서비스 방법)

  • The pre-generated web contents or various devices have to be used in order to execute UMA(UMA:Universal Multimedia Access). However, an HTLM web page for PC is not very compatible with wireless internet because of its unnecessary advertisements, high resolution, and various multimedia data. This is because the main focus when creating it was on high speed. In this paper indicates with the RSS channel, converted from the main part of the HTML web page, which users show interest in, a wireless compatible internet page can easily be created. Consequently, web administrators could create a wireless page easily and quickly, and wireless users would be able to find information in the same manner.

  • Although the Act on the Prevention of Light Pollution Due to Artificial Lighting has been enforced since 2013, the area of advertisement lighting has made slow progress in solving the problems of light pollution. This paper first investigated institutional problems by analyzing domestic laws and regulations relating to the light pollution of advertisement lighting, and investigated and analyzed methods for reducing light pollution that were applied in overseas countries. Then, problems of light pollution were analyzed by conducting a research on the actual status of advertisement lightings installed in South Korea and applying various methods for reducing light pollution, and advertisement lighting using LED was recommended. As a method for reducing light pollution that can be applied to the process of manufacturing channel letter-type advertisement lights, power consumption per unit area ($W/m^2$) was proposed, and $100W/m^2$ was recommended as a value currently suitable for South Korea.

A Study on Promotion and Improvement of YouTube Music Contents Through the User Evaluation of Card Live ('명함라이브' 사용자 평가를 통한 유튜브 음악 콘텐츠 홍보 및 개선방안 연구)

  • This study explores the process of the actual content production and distribution, by creating a YouTube channel to promote the popular music contents produced by the researcher, which thus reflects the reality where the production of video contents rapidly increases. A YouTube channel titled "Alida Music", of which the focus was to promote indie musicians, was created on February 2019. The contents of 10 indie musicians were produced in one-take live format. The information of the indie musicians was displayed in the form of a screen business card, with their e-mail address and SNS account at the top. Therefore, this promotional design was named "Card Live". Promotional video contents marked with the QR code in the lower right on the screen were produced, along with the promotional phrase "Communicate directly with the artist through the QR code", which allows viewers to watch other contents of the indie musician when they scan the QR code. This research conducted a study on how to improve and promote "Card Live" contents of "Alida Music", which were produced through this process. A group interview targeting five indie musicians, among whom one participant deemed significant was selected to conduct a one-to-one in-depth interview. As a result of the study, the following three conclusions were drawn. First, YouTube was found to be the medium with the greatest influence and highest efficiency at the lowest cost. Second, the evaluation of the participants on "Card Live" were divided into the three categories: need for one-take live, the design elements of "Card Live", and scanning issues of the QR code. Third, there is a need for promotional methods that can effectively utilize the media aspects of YouTube: the channel management issues such as raising public awareness as well as the number of subscribers of "Alida Music" should be resolved and measures to effectively use various media including other SNS should be developed. In terms of its content, it is imperative to recruit diverse performers to make various contents, as well as to come up with ways to link "Card Live" contents with offline. Based on these results, "Card Live" contents should be further revised and complemented in order to provide interesting contents to consumers, which will further develop "Alida Music" as a platform where various musicians and companies meet, thereby inducing contracts with popular music agencies and generating advertising revenues. However, since this study was carried out only with the limited number of participants, future studies should include more participants to bring forth a variety of promotional plans and improvement measures. Also, in the era of consuming contents through smart devices, the fact that some features of "Card Live" were available only on PC, did not fully reflect the characteristics of the times. In the future research, various contents that smartphone users can access and view freely without PC should be produced.

  • Digital Signage, a way of advertising or delivering information to viewers through digital displays, has expanded from being just an advertising channel in public places. Recently, it has become widely prevalent in restaurants and retail stores. Despite its wide expansion, digital signage is limited to specific usages and services and the devices it uses are also quite expensive. This study introduces a stick-type digital signage product that operates on Android OS, which addresses all the weaknesses of digital signage with much more reasonable pricing and stable operation. For stability, performance tests were executed on the hardware and applications. The results for hardware performance were extremely promising, as each scenario's maximum performance results, measured by Load Runner programs, reached target indexes. Also, as a result of the usability test, all participants, including non-digital signage system users (novices), were able to easily learn all the tasks. As a result of user satisfaction survey, positive responses were exhibited for ease of learning and usability (LEU), helpfulness and problem solving capabilities (HPSC), affective aspect and multimedia properties (AAMP), commands and minimal memory load (CMML), and control and efficiency (CE).

Exploring the Analysis of Male and Female Shopper's Visual Attention to Online Shopping Information Contents: Emphasis on Human Brand Image (온라인 쇼핑정보에 대한 남성과 여성 간 시각 주의도 탐색 연구: 휴먼 브랜드 이미지를 중심으로)

  • Shopping information contents shown on online shopping sites represent online retailer's intention to draw potential consumers' visual attention. However, unfortunately, previous studies in literature show that most of the shopping information contents are naively designed just to appeal to consumers' visual attention without systematic and logical analysis of consumers' possible different visual reactions depending on gender. To fill in the research void like this, this study proposes eye-tracking approach to investigating the research issue of how gender affects consumers' visual attention towards human brand image contents on the online shopping sites. For the sake of conducting related eye-tracking experiments, we adopted two types of products - notebook computer as a utilitarian product, and perfume as a hedonic product. Results revealed that female consumers show higher visual attention to human brand image contents than male consumers. Besides, significant gender difference exists on the human brand image contents more highly when they are attached with a hedonic product like perfume, than a utilitarian product like notebook computer. From the eye-tracking-based experiment results like this, this study suggested theoretical backgrounds about gender differences towards online shopping information contents and related human brand image contents as well.

  • This study aims to consider the effects of the change in communication culture affected by 'Social Media' on the film marketing. Particularly, Twitter, a kind of Social Media which shows the most rapid growth recently, is examined for what kind of benefits it's functional characteristics would provide for film marketing. Twitter, which has distinctive characteristics such as free access, the high level of attention resulting from its simplicity, alarming speed of spreading information and low costs, offers a variety of marketing opportunities not only for general commercial films but for low budget or independent films that do not have sufficient marketing opportunity. In the case of the documentary film (2010, Woo-jung Kwon), starting from the process of the film production through release to the time after the screening, it continued to communicate with potential audiences via Twitter and tried every tool of film marketing like advertising, PR, promotion and word of mouth. By doing so, it provides a model for low budget or independent films about what alternative activities they might be able to conduct for film marketing.

  • 최근 소형 무안경식 스테레오스코픽 디스플레이가 저가에 양산될 수 있게 되어 이를 장착한 휴대형 기기를 통한 스테레오스코픽 서비스에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있다. 지상파 DMB 수신 겸용 휴대폰의 경우에도 이러한 3D 디스플레이를 장착할 수 있으므로, 지상파 DMB를 통해 3D 비디오 서비스를 제공하는 데에도 관심이 고조되고 있다. 그러한 현재 지상파 DMB 채널은 가용 전송률이 거의 남아 있지 못한 상태이므로, 실시간으로 이러한 서비스를 제공할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 기존 지상파 DMB 비디오 서비스를 위해 전송되는 비디오 압축 데이터를 3D 영상의 좌우 영상 중 한 영상으로 사용하고, 다른쪽 영상은 비실시간적인 방법으로 수신기로 전송함으로써 기존 지상파 DMB 비디오 서비스와 호환적으로 3D 비디오 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 방법 2 가지를 제안한다. 첫 번째 방법은 지상파 DMB의 파일 다운로드 프로토콜인 MOT(Multimedia Object Transfer)를 이용하여 3D 영상에 필요한 한 쪽 영상을 파일 형태로 미리 수신기로 다운로드해 준 후, 실시간으로 전송되어 오는 2D 비디오 데이터와 함께 디스플레이하는 MOT/스트림 모드 비실시간 3D 비디오 서비스이며, 두 번째 방법은 광고 영상과 같이 일정 기간 중에 반복적으로 전송되는 콘텐트에 대해 추가로 필요한 전송률이 거의 없이 3D 비디오로 제공할 수 있는 반복 콘텐트 비실시간 3D 비디오 서비스이다.

Users' Attitude and Behavior about Movies by the Type of SNS Usage (SNS 이용 유형에 따른 영화에 대한 태도 및 행동)

  • With the increasing adoption of social network services (SNS), the cultural and art industry is also embracing SNS as an important tool of marketing. Users can share various cultural experiences on SNS easily, and companies can analyze SNS to understand the users for effective marketing. Based on this background, this study analyzed users' behavior and attitude about movies according to SNS usage types. Users of SNS were surveyed and clustered into 'information seekers', 'fun seekers', and 'relationship seekers'. Next, the behavior of the users in each cluster was compared regarding information search about movies, preferred online advertisement channels, and post-watching behavior. The results showed that the SNS usage type has significant relationship with the behavior and attitude about movies. This suggests that movie industry can establish effective online marketing strategy by analyzing SNS usage of users.
