The purpose of this paper is to find out the present status of core courses offered at the Departments of Library and Information Science. For this purpose, the core courses in the curriculum, which were compulsory ones in the 19805, are analyzed. The result shows that there have not been many changes in the core courses offered and that traditional cores of selection, organization, services, administration and information science-related courses are still strongly extant.

The study is on the types, contents, characteristics, and levels of lifelong education programs from 16 central and local public libraries in Korea. And also analyzes the situation and the results of learning purpose, educational content and teaching methods from 4 public libraries of Ulsan province. On the basis of the results, suggests for the improvement proposals of lifelong education programs in Korean public libraries as follows ; (1) proposes the differentiation and establishment of system for the programs. (2) presents the model development for the evaluation of the educational programs.

This study outlined the meaning, roles, and competencies required for specialized law librarian; examined the American educational system in law librarianship and analyzed the situation of American Schools of Library and Information Studies for the education of specialized law librarian; and recommended the special law librarianship program under the Department of Library and Information Science in the Graduate School.

This study intends to analyze the integrated search methods in digital libraries environment. To categorize various integration methods, I investigated the developmental properties and integration types of digital libraries from a users point of view. And then, I reviewed the current best practices of library portal which are JISC Information Environment, NSDL OCKHAM and Korea Knowledge Portal Initiatives. Nextly, I derived the two methods of Integrated search mechanisms such as aggregated search and distributed search that is useful in the digital libraries environment.

The study is to suggest the roles of school library professionals upon changes of school libraries according to the 7th Korean Educational Curriculum. With this purpose, it investigates the policies and current status of allocations of school library professionals, and the interview of non-regular librarian about works. The study also compares job understanding of teacher-librarians, teachers managing school libraries and that of non-regular librarians in school libraries. It suggested the desirable roles of school library professionals.

This study surveyed the online catalog retrieval systems of the university libraries in Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam districts. The types of library materials, and the kinds of access points and retrieval conditions(Boolean logic, methods of index term Identification, and particularities of the retrieval) of these systems are various and different to each other Upon the result of this survey a suggestion for the standardization of online catalog retrieval systems is offered.

This research is aimed to reconstruct Korean public library as lifelong education organization system. This study investigates systems of lifelong education organizations and situations of their employees, and analyzes some problems suggested by managers of lifelong education organizations. This study attempts to identify use of information technology In university libraries and to analyze the relationship between utilization of information technology and organizational culture of university libraries. A questionnaire developed through literature review is used to survey staff in university libraries. In conclusion, utilization of information technology by librarian and rational goal model of culture have negative relation and two variables are correlated at .05 significant level.
