Usefulness of Smart Phone Application to Measure Cervical Range of Motion (목 관절가동범위 측정을 위한 스마트폰 어플리케이션의 유용성)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to estimate the reliability of cervical range of motion measurement in healthy adults using smart phone application and goniometer that can be easily applicated in clinical setting. Methods : The cervical range of motion was measured as the flexion, extension, right rotation, left rotation, right lateral flexion, and left lateral flexion. To measure the reliability of intra-rater and inter-rater reliability, the same examiner performed two measurements and the other examiner performed once, total measurement were performed three times. The order of tests was randomized and two examiners didn't know the results of measurements. Results : Thirty healthy adults were participated. The result of this study shows that there were are no significant differences in all movements except the right lateral flexion in comparison of average angle of smart phone application and goniometer. The intra-rater reliability of smart phone application and goniometer showed ICC as .841~.958 and the inter-rater reliability showed ICC as .720~.944 for all movements. Conclusion : These results suggest that smart phone application and goniometer have proven to be reliable in measuring the cervical range of motion. Smart phone application can be used as a useful tool in clinical setting due to fast and accurate measurements of cervical range of motion.

Development of ROM Measurement Device capable of IoT-based Real-time Monitoring for Rehabilitation Patients (재활환자를 위한 IoT 기반의 실시간 모니터링이 가능한 ROM 측정 장치 개발)

  • In this thesis, the range of motion of the joint was measured using a flexible sensor without using a goniometer, and the measured values were transferred to a smart device. Current range of joint motion measurement is measured by a person using a goniometer. Since the method of measuring by a person is different according to the measuring method and position of the measuring person, it is difficult to make consistent measurement, and an error may occur. The sensor for measurement is a flexible sensor that measures the resistance value that changes according to the movement of the joint. The sensed value can be transmitted to the smart device wirelessly through the ROM sensor node. Also, the sensed analog values were converted to digital values using an ADC. The converted value can be transmitted to the smart device wirelessly through the sensor node. The developed ROM measuring device can perform more consistent measurement than the measurement using general articulator and real time monitoring by interlocking with smart device, so that rapid diagnosis according to the movement of the joint can help the patient's rapid treatment and rehabilitation medical advancement will be.

The effects of grasp strength and brachioradialis thickness in elbow joint angle (팔굽관절 각도가 악력과 위팔노근 두께에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is investigated for angle of elbow joint influence on grasp strength, confirm change of grasp strength and brachioradialis thickness according to angle of elbow joint in standing. Thirty male and female university students, who participated with agreement in this study, using for electronic dynamometer and convertible ultrasound measure maximum grasp strength and brachioradialis thickness after elbow joint $0^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, $135^{\circ}$ positioning in standing. In average grasp strength was strongest at elbow joint $0^{\circ}$, as the angle of elbow joint increased, was decreased grasp strength, no significant statistically(p<.05). In average brachioradialis thickness was lowest at elbow joint $0^{\circ}$, as the angle of elbow joint increased, was increased brachioradialis thickness, significant statistically(p<.05). These result may indicated that change of elbow joint angle not influence on grasp strength, but influence on brachioradialis thickness.

  • This study deals with experimental studies on electromyogram (EMG) measurements and functional electrical stimulation (FES) for the rehabilitation of a shoulder-joint. Based on the structure, motion, and main functions of the musculoskeletal system in a shoulder-joint, the muscles playing a major role for the motion in the sagittal plane were selected for the experiment. First, the surface electromyogram of the main muscles was measured according to the joint angle. The results showed that the change in the surface EMG was linearly proportional to the change in the joint angle. Second, the joint angle was measured during FES at shoulder muscles. The results showed that the joint angle increased as the FES current increased in a certain range of FES. It was confirmed that the willingness of muscles to move could be detected by measuring EMG and that the generation of muscle tension could be assisted by FES for active rehabilitation.

  • 본 논문은 3차원 데카르트 좌표계에 따른 다 관절 로봇 제어의 제어 알고리즘을 제안하려 한다. 제안 기법을 통해 놓고자 하는 좌표 공간의 값을 통해 서보 모터가 취해야 할 각도 값을 구할 수 있고, 이를 통해 다 관절 로봇을 보다 쉽게 제어할 수 있다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 운동강도(최대근수축의 10, 30, 50, 70%)에 따라 유발되는 국소적인 근피로가 슬관절의 위치감각 인지에 미치는 영향을 연구함으로써 근력강화의 운동치료적 효과와 운동학습과 관련된 효과를 동시에 만족시키는 최적의 운동강도를 제시하는 것이었다. 대상자는 건강한 성인여자 40명이었다. 청각을 통한 위치감각 정보를 제공하는 장치와 원판 각도계가 부착된 등속성 Cybex를 사용하였다. 근피로의 상태를 확인하기 위해서 근전도를 이용하여 주파수 스펙트럼 분석을 실시하였다. 청각되먹임이 주어진 각도와 대상자에 의해 재생되어진 각도의 오차값들과 근피로의 변화를 비교하기 위해 일요인 분산분석을 이용하였다. 오차값들의 평균은 50%의 군에서 가장 작았으며 근피로 또한 70%의 군에서만 크게 생성되었다. 따라서 최대 근 수축력의 50%가 운동치료 시 가장 효과적인 운동강도임을 알 수 있었다.

  • The spine is one of the most important skeletal joints, and it strongly affects the health of the musculoskeletal system. A normal spine has an S-shape, and it is very important to maintain this shape. Recently, spinal diseases such as low back pain have increased rapidly, especially among the elderly. Some of these diseases are caused by congenital spinal disorders and sporting and accident injuries as well as by bad postures. Improper spinal postures could generate excessive disc pressure, which is related to degeneration and pain. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the three-dimensional kinematic parameters of the thoraco-lumbar joint in several bad postures using a motion capture analysis technique. Different bad postures created a significant amount of flexion/extension, side bending, and axial rotation angle compared with neutral postures. Further study is necessary to investigate the disc pressure and ligament force due to the increase in joint rotation from the bad postures.

  • This research proves the ROM method (Range Of Motion), which has already been used in other countries, that measures the capacity of exercise and the adaptation of movement of functional garments for special purpose due to change of the height of basic sleeve sloper. Basically, the ultimate goal of the research is to improve the functional pattern design. Firstly, this research proves the proper application of ROM that is used for the evaluation of fitting test. Therefore, according to this research, the company is able to produce the sample that is appropriate to the various purpose for women garments and betters the evaluation of function of garments. Moreover, it suggests that the evaluation of fitting test satisfies the consumers who desire to try better garments and contributes to the competitions among the companies that bring more improvements to the fashion design.

  • This paper describes the method of calculating coordinate using Forward Kinematics and expresses the recursive equation as the numerical formula using a homogeneous coordinate for creating workspace. This paper proposes an algorithm for the workspace of human model using the recursive equation and the joint limit angle of human model, and describes the results of workspace of the human model as computer graphics.

Analysis of Upper Limb Movement Using Bio-Impedance (임피던스를 이용한 상지 운동 분석)

  • 본 연구에서는 생체 임피던스를 이용하여 3채널 상지(upper arm) 운동 분석 시스템을 제작하였다. 각 채널은 상지의 외전(supination)과 내전(pronation), 팔꿈치(elbow)의 폄과 굽힘, 손목(wrist)의 평과 굽힘에 따른 각 관절의 임피던스 변화를 얻을 수 있도록 설계되었다. 상체 임피던스는 전극의 부착위치에 의존하므로 정밀한 감지를 위해 상지 운동에 대한 임피던스의 변화와 각도계(goniometer)의 각도 변화와의 상관관계를 통하여 상관 관계가 높고, 변화량이 가장 크고 다른 관절의 움직임에 따른 영향이 최소인 곳을 찾아 이를 최적의 전극 위치로 정하였다. 그리고, 선정된 최적의 전극 위치에서 임피던스 변화를 얻어 상지 운동을 분석해 보았다. 최적의 전극 위치에서 손목과 팔꿈치의 각도 변화와 임피던스 변화의 상관 계수는 각각 0.94, -0.97로 아주 높은 상관 관계를 보였다. 또한 이전의 다른 연구에서 임피던스 방법으로 구현해 본적이 없는 팔의 회전(rotation)도 분석이 가능하였다. 이 시스템은 피검자의 동작에 거의 제한을 주지 않고, 가벼우며, 장시간 측정이 용이할 뿐만 아니라 시스템 구성이 영상 분석기에 비해서 단순하다는 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 방법은 재활과 생체역학, 로봇의 원격 제어, 그리고 가상 현실에서의 동작 구현 등에 활용 할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
