A Study on Forecasting of Overseas Tour - Gravity Model and Regression Model (해외관광 수요예측 모형에 관한 연구 제목 - 중력모형과 회귀모형)

  • Now a day, overseas tour which is due to economic development grows very much. In this situation, a forecast of overseas tour is required to establish tourism policy for tourism marketing. In this paper, we compare regression model and gravity model for a forecast of overseas tour. Using gravity model, this study also suggests an attraction which is suitable to our situation, and suggested attraction is compared and analyzed with another.

Content Analysis of Newspapers' Travel News (신문의 관광보도 내용분석)

  • Recently, media's attention to tourism is enhanced, and the proportion of tourism related content is increasing. Hence, the present study performed a content analysis of the travel news stories in major Korean newspapers to figure out the current state of travel journalism. A rotation sampling method was employed, and 53 days in 2013 were selected. Main coding categories were type, theme, and writer of the news stories and the degree of promotional information in the news stories. Differences among newspapers and the degree of inclusion of the promotional information according to news types and themes were analyzed. Analyses revealed the differences among newspapers and the degree of inclusion of promotional information was different according to the news types and themes. On the basis of the findings, problems of the travel journalism were identified, and possible measures to solve the problems were discussed.

Methods to Propel Tourism of Yeosu City Using Big Data (빅데이터를 활용한 여수관광 활성화 방안)

  • The fourth industrial revolution introduced at world economic forum in 2016 has had huge effects on tourism industries as well as the change of core technologies in ICT such as big data, IoT, etc, This paper proposes the methods to propel tourism of Yoesu city through big data analysis and questionnaires. Sensitive words and positive-negative trend are extracted by Social Metrics and the keywords for Yeosu tour trends are extracted and analyzed by Naver datalab, and the results are visualized by R language. And frequency, difference, factor, covariance and regression analysis in SPSS are executed for the questionnaires for 493 visitors who traveled in Yeosu city. Sentiment analysis for Yeosu tour and maritime cable car shows that positive effect is much more than negative one. The analyses for questionnaires in SPSS show that Yeosu area is statistically significant to tour satisfaction index and tour revitalization for Yeosu, and favorite sightseeing places and searching electronic devices for age groups are different. The sightseeing places such as a maritime park with soft contents that give joyfulness and healing to tourists are highly attracted in both the big data and questionnaires analysis.

A Social Network Analysis of Tourism Destinations in Package Tourism Products (패키지 관광 상품에 포함된 관광목적지들 간의 사회 네트워크 분석)

  • This paper aims to analyze destination composition patterns included in package products and to identify the characteristics of the tourism destinations through social network analysis using data collected from tour packages distributed by major Korean travel agencies, targeting Singapore as a key destination. Such tour package data were transcribed into data matrix using Pajek, UCINET, and Cytoscape for analysis. The density and centralization scores derived from the analysis indicated clearly that each destination was almost connected to each other. The centrality scores indicated that the destinations with higher degree of centrality also has higher betweenness centrality within the network. Based on centrality scores, POI(point of interests) of tourism destinations showed concentration in southern area of the target region. Finally, through component analysis, subgroups of tourism destination networks are isolated. Practical implications were also presented for industry practitioners.

  • The purpose of this study is to find a valid link between color and tourism experience. We analyzed color that extracted by Aerial photo by IRI Image Scale to find color image. As an indicator of the experience of tourism, a review of the Tripadvisor was selected and analyzed through text mining. Results using text mining results and IRI image scales were generally inconsistent. To identify problems with aerial photo, the results of the analysis using the representative photographs provided by the Tripadvisor in the same way were the same as before. This indicate that details are key of tourism than the image of the overall background. This study presents new research directions by combining color analysis studies with text mining.

Tourists' Excursion Behavior Analysis Considering Their Information Usage (관광객의 정보이용이 관광주유행동에 미치는 영향분석)

  • The objective of this paper is to develop a structural equations model system for the purpose of tourists' excursion behaviour analysis with their information usage. A tourist' excursion behavior defined as activities in the sightseeing region between arriving and leaving time includes indexes with respect to activity' time use and the number of spots. Additionally, such indexes can be modeled as endogenous variables in the structural equation model system on the assumption that they are influenced by the degree of familarity on the sightseeing region, the degree of information usage, and individual attributes. The case study application involves excursion behaviour data such as one-day excursion activity and information usage diary that are observed in the Fuji Five Lakes, Japan. Since the models presented in the paper are available to statistically analyze the covariance among the endogenous variables, they have the advantage of effectiveness analysis on information usage in the excursion area, compared to the prior approaches such as discrete choice models.

Research on the Difference on Selection of Travel Product Attributes by Tourism Action: Focus on Outbound Tourist (관광행동에 따른 여행상품속성 선택의 차이에 관한 연구 : 해외여행객을 중심으로)

  • This study intends to provide support for tourism industry to establish marketing strategies for selling the travel products on which it should focus on more by examining the difference on selection of travel product attributes by tourism action. This research utilized cluster analysis and ANOVA. The cluster analysis identified four cluster: logical tourism, weak conspicious tourism, value tourism, conspicuous and value tourism. ANOVA analysis showed that four cluster were different in terms of tourism action such as transportation accommodation facilities, tourist attractions, shopping and meals except for travel service, entertainment.

  • This study analyzed empirically the effects of the perception of outbound passengers, who flew from Korea to overseas tourist destinations, on the cabin service quality, tourist experience, and tourist satisfaction. For empirical analysis, a survey was given to Korean passengers using a national carrier of South Korea. Based on empirical analysis, the researchers judged that the analysis results and implications could be applied to inbound foreign passengers who visited Korea for the tourism purposes if researchers generated significant results from empirical analysis. This paper designed a research model that represented the meaningful relationship among, airline cabin-service quality, tourist experience, and tourist satisfaction following preceding research. According to the analysis, that factors that consisted of the cabin service quality had a significant effect on the tourist satisfaction with a mediating effect of both the cognitive and emotional tourist experience. Therefore, the perception on airline's cabin service quality of the national carrier would be a starting point that can help improve the tourist satisfaction.

A Case Study on the Smart Tourism City Using Big Data: Focusing on Tourists Visiting Jeju Province (빅 데이터를 활용한 스마트 관광 도시 사례 분석 연구: 제주특별자치도 관광객 데이터를 중심으로)

  • It is possible to provide Smart Tourism Service through the development of information technology. It is necessary for the tourism industry to understand and utilize Big Data that has tourists' consumption patterns and service usage patterns in order to continuously create a new business model by converging with other industries. This study suggests to activate Jeju Smart Tourism by analyzing Big Data based on credit card usage records and location of tourists in Jeju. The results of the study show that First, the percentage of Chinese tourists visiting Jeju has decreased because of the effect of THAAD. Second, Consumption pattern of Chinese tourists is mostly occurring in the northern areas where airports and duty-free shops are located, while one in other regions is very low. The regional economy of Jeju City and Seogwipo City shows a overall stagnation, without changes in policy, existing consumption trends and growth rates will continue in line with regional characteristics. Third, we need a policy that young people flow into by building Jeju Multi-complex Mall where they can eat, drink, and go shopping at once because the number of young tourists and the price they spend are increasing. Furthermore, it is necessary to provide services for life-support related to weather, shopping, traffic, and facilities etc. through analyzing Wi-Fi usage location. Based on the results, we suggests the marketing strategies and public policies for understanding Jeju tourists' patterns and stimulating Jeju tourism industry.
