  • IaaS is well known as a very cost effective computing service which enables required infrastructures to be rented on demand without ownership of real hardwares. It is very suitable for price sensitive services due to pay-per-use style. Operators of such services would want to adjust utilization policy quickly by estimating costs for cloud infrastructures as soon as possible. However, swift response is not possible due to that cloud service providers provide a dozen or so hours delayed billing information. Our work proposes a realtime IaaS cost estimation model based on usages monitored by virtual machine instance. We operate PC laboratory service on a public cloud during full semester to validate our suggested model. From that experiment, an averaged disparity between estimation and actual cost is less than 5.2%.

  • LVC(Live-Virtual-Constructive) training system is drawing attention due to changes in battlefield situation and the development of advanced information and communication technologies. The ROKAF(Republic of Korea Air Force) plans to construct LVC training system capable of scientific training. This paper analyzes the results of V-C interoperability test with three fighter simulators as virtual systems and a theater-level wargame model as a constructive system. The F-15K, KF-16, and FA-50 fighter simulators, which have different interoperable methods, were converted into a standard for simulation interoperability. Using the integrated field environment simulator, the fighter simulators established a mutually interoperable environment. In addition, the Changgong model, which is the representative training model of the Air Force, was converted to the standard for simulation interoperability, and the integrated model was implemented with optimized interoperability performance. Throughput experiments, It was confirmed that the fighter simulators and the war game model of the ROKAF could be interoperable with each other. The results of this study are expected to be a good reference for the future study of the ROKAF LVC training system.

  • As the urban development economy is stagnating due to the reduction of the budget for Social Overhead Capital (SOC) and the stabilization policy of the real estate market, there is a steady increase in the interest of domestic construction companies to enter the overseas market. However, domestic construction companies are showing a decline in overseas urban development market as compared with advanced foreign companies having excellent financial management and overseas project management ability. Therefore, it is necessary for domestic companies to select an urban development model that meets the environment and the level of the country of entry, and to establish an advance strategy to manage the risks of overseas business. For this purpose, the factors of entry into the overseas urban development market through the existing research, literature analysis, and FGI were derived, and survey strategy and IPA analysis were conducted to develop strategies for entering the overseas urban development market. As a result, we have established a strategy for private companies to enter the overseas urban development market.

  • The purposes of the present study were finding out educational implications and enhancing the efficient use of computer-based assessments (CBA) in class designes. This paper examined associations of CBA perceptional typology, academic achievement, personality, and computer efficacy. Participants were fifty senior students who took more than 50% of CBA classes in a university that introduces online learning-based system (LMS) with CBA. As a result, there were significant differences between CBA types and GPA and between CBA types and personality. In other words, the CBA adjustment type showed the highest GPA score and CBA dissatisfaction/paper test preference type showed the lowest GPA. Similarly, in terms of personality, CBA adjustment typology was significantly higher conscientiousness than other types. CBA dissatisfaction type had the lowest score of conscientiousness. In addition, the higher the level of conscientiousness, agreeableness and neuroticism, the higher the GPA score. This study is meaningful in that it is the first attempt to seek links CBA type with academic achievement and personality.

  • This study seeks to find an organizational method suitable for literary records through a review of the application of records management and an archival exploration of the literary materials of the authors, which are housed in a decentralized collection of domestic literary museums. First, through literature research and case analysis, I explored the "principles of original order" for organizing by characteristics and values of literary records. Next, the organization model was applied to the literature materials of author Jo Jung-rae(1943~) that existed in the form of a 'split-collection' in the local literature museum after drawing a model suitable for organizing literary records as an example. In order to gain an integrated approach to the 'split-collection' by Cho Jung-rae, the research result suggests a model provided through a single gateway by linking descriptive information related to ICA AtoM-based 'Records-Writers-Literature Museum'. The organizational model for the collection of individual literature museum was designed to provide richer collective and contextual information compared to the existing simple list by developing a hierarchical classification system in accordance with the principle of record organizing.

  • Along with the advances in medical technology and the economic development, more terminally ill patients are receiving hospice and palliative care services. Moreover, hospice and palliative care clinicians have been showing considerable interest in studies that aim to improve the quality of said care for patients and their families. Meanwhile, after the government has strengthened its policy to protect research participants, the institutional review boards (IRBs) are more closely examining various ethical issues related to patients' vulnerability when reviewing protocols for hospice and palliative care research. However, terminally ill patients should be provided with guaranteed qualities of hospice and palliative care to improve and maintain their quality of life. To that end, support should be provided for efforts to conduct ethical and safe studies with hospice and palliative care patients. Thus, this review paper proposes ethical guidelines for hospice and palliative care research. The guidelines could be appropriately used as a reference for researchers who should prepare for ethically safe and scientifically valued research protocols and the IRBs that will review the protocols.

  • Developing countries face numerous challenges in the process of building science, technology, and research capacity; in particular, the formation and accumulation of skilled S&T workforce. The lack of organized and sustainable higher education options (Master and Doctoral programs), nonexistent or low-quality academic programs, and the absence of research-oriented study options are some of the strong contributors for talented students to emigrate to developed countries. At the same time, the consolidation of a global knowledge economy, the internationalization of higher education, and the competition to attract foreign talent in industrialized countries present challenges for underdeveloped nations to retain their already scarce skilled human resources. In this context, student mobility has been used as a policy mechanism to cope with S&T workforce shortages in S&T laggard nations. It has also enabled opportunities for international cooperation to play a key role. While significant literature has been devoted to studying the gains of developed nations with the arrival and potential migration of the mobilized students, few scholarly inquiries have addressed the benefits and losses experienced by their countries of origin. More importantly, limited research can be found on policy options and policy implications for developing countries to deal with the dilemmas presented by the brain-drain/brain-circulation debate. The goal of this article is to study empirical evidence of an international cooperation initiative for student mobility between the Republic of Korea and Guatemala (implemented during 2009-2015). The paper analyzes this particular international cooperation experience from the perspective of the different actors involved and attempts to draw policy implications and policy options for developing countries to deal with potential risks and gains derived from international mobility for their S&T capacity building.
