Implementation of TCP Retransmitted Packet Loss Recovery using ns-2 Simulator (ns-2 시뮬레이터를 이용한 TCP 재전송 손실 복구 알고리듬의 구현)

  • Transmission control protocol(TCP) widely used as a transport protocol in the Internet includes a loss recovery function that detects and recovers packet losses by retransmissions. The loss recovery function consists of the two algorithms; fast retransmit and fast recovery. There have been researches to avoid nonnecessary retransmission timeouts (RTOs), which leads to selective acknowledgement (SACK) option and limited transmit scheme that are standardized by IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force). Recently, a method that covers the case in which a retransmitted packet is lost again has been propsed. The method, however, is not proved in terms of the additive increase multiplicative decrease (AIMD) principle of TCP congestion control. In this paper, therefore, we analyzed the method in terms of the principle by ns-simulations.

  • 무선 통신 환경에서 기지국 안테나를 떠난 전파가 수신안테나에 도달하는 과정 중에 발생하는 전파 손실은 매우 복잡한 비선형 함수이다. 본 논문에서는 신경회로망을 사용한 전파 손실 모델을 제안하고, 3차원 지형 데이터를 이용하여 전파 환경을 반영할 수 있는 특징을 추출하여 이를 신경회로망에 적용함으로써 전파손실 예측모델을 생성하는 방법을 소개한다. 각 필드 측정 데이터에 대한 특징 값을 이용하여 신경회로망을 학습하여 예측모델을 완성한다. 또한, 서울 도심 지역의 실제 PCS 서비스 환경에 대한 실험결과를 통해 제안하는 모델의 우수성을 보인다.

  • The application of extreme value theory to financial data is a fairly recent innovation. The classical annual maximum method is to fit the generalized extreme value distribution to the annual maxima of a data series. An alterative modern method, the so-called threshold method, is to fit the generalized Pareto distribution to the excesses over a high threshold from the data series. A more substantial variant is to take the point-process viewpoint of high-level exceedances. That is, the exceedance times and excess values of a high threshold are viewed as a two-dimensional point process whose limiting form is a non-homogeneous Poisson process. In this paper, we apply the two-dimensional non-homogeneous Poisson process model to daily losses, daily negative log-returns, in the data series of KBW/USD exchange rate, collected from January 4th, 1982 until December 31 st, 2008. The main question is how to estimate extreme quantiles of losses such as the 10-year or 50-year return level.

  • 산업재해로 인한 개인·사회·국가적 손실이 막대함에도 불구하고, 이러한 산업재해손실을 최소화하기 위한 산업안전보건정책의 결정과 집행과정에 대한 분석·연구는 매우 미흡한 실정이며, 유사한 성격의 사회정책으로서 공정거래제도나 환경분야보다도 훨씬 뒤떨어 져 있다 본 논문은 산업안전보건기준이라는 정책과제를 중심으로 산업안전보건정책의 집행 과정의 성공과 실패요인의 분석에 필요한 연구분석들을 제시하고자 하며, 향후에 이를 바탕으로 실증적인 적용실태연구를 통해 산업안전보건정책방향의 일단을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 기존의 윤곽선 검출윤곽선 검출방법과는 다른 본 논문에서는 효율적인 방법론을 이용해서 윤곽추출 및 잡음제거 방법론을 제안한다. 제안한 방법론은 전처리과정을 거친후 본 방법론을 적용함으로써 영상 윤곽추출률을 높이고자한다. 특히, 기존의 윤곽선 추출방법인 로버트와 라플라 시안방법을 사용한 후에 미디안 필터를 사용했으며, 제안한 방법은 기존의 윤곽선 추출 필터를 거친 후에 사용하였다. 구체적으로 서술하면 일정한 임계치를 초과하면 흰색으로 대치하고, 그렇치 않으면 검정색으로 대치한다. 기존의 잡음제거과정은 윤곽선 손실은 없었으나 잡음제거가 소량 이루어졌으며, 제안한 방법은 약간의 윤곽선 손실을 보였으나 완전하게 잡음을 제거시킬 수 있었다.

Loss of Metalworking Fluids Collected on PVC Filter Due to Contact with Clean Air and Desiccation (PVC필터에 채취된 절삭유의 손실에 관한 연구)

  • Because liquids with high molecular weight such as mineral oil have low vapor pressure at room temperature, it is generally thought to be difficult to lose them to evaporation. However, when they are dispersed into air in small droplets during application in machining processes, their surface area becomes considerably higher. To determine the potential for metalworking fluids (MWF) filter losses, MWF mist was generated and collected on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) filters in test chamber. After collected MWF was exposed to clean air during designated period (range 10~240 minutes) and the filters were desiccated, losses were evaluated. As duration of clean air passing through PVC filter increased, loss of MWF gradually increased. MWF lost after 10 minutes ranged form 12.4 % to 21.8 % of the original loading mass, on average 53.3 % of the total loss. These results indicate that significant mass of MWF collected on PVC filters can be lost at the beginning of air sampling. Loss of MWF collected on PVC filter also occurred during desiccation without active airflow. In multiple regression to identify which factors influence the loss of MWF collected on PVC filter, both duration of air passing through PVC filter and MWF age (fresh vs. used) were significant predictor (p=0.0001). Therefore, workers' exposure to MWF measured method 0500, may underestimate true concentration. Further study is needed to develop a new method to quantify the workers' exposure to airborne MWF mist accurately.

A Study on the Improvement of Skin Loss Area in Skin Color Extraction for Face Detection (얼굴 검출을 위한 피부색 추출 과정에서 피부색 손실 영역 개선에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose an improved facial skin color extraction method to solve the problem that facial surface is lost due to shadow or illumination in skin color extraction process and skin color extraction is not possible. In the conventional HSV method, when facial surface is brightly illuminated by light, the skin color component is lost in the skin color extraction process, so that a loss area appears on the face surface. In order to solve these problems, we extract the skin color, determine the elements in the H channel value range of the skin color in the HSV color space among the lost skin elements, and combine the coordinates of the lost part with the coordinates of the original image, To minimize the number of In the face detection process, the face was detected using the LBP Cascade Classifier, which represents texture feature information in the extracted skin color image. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves the detection rate and accuracy by 5.8% and 9.6%, respectively, compared with conventional RGB and HSV skin color extraction and face detection using the LBP cascade classifier method.

The Noise Reduction Using Block Classification and Morphological Filtering (영역분류와 형태학적 필터링을 이용한 잡음제거)

  • 본 논문에서는 영상 부호화시 전처리 과정을 수행함으로써 잡음을 제거하는 새로운 알고리듬을 제안하였다. 제안한 알고리듬은 영상의 선명도를 유지할뿐아니라 전체적인 부호화 효율을 높여준다. 효율향상 과정은 다음과 같다. 첫째 블록 특성에 다라 영역을 분류하며, 둘째로는 Canny 연산자와 Sobel 연산자를 이용하여 경계선 방향을 얻는다. 세 번째로 블록 특성과 경계선 방향에 따라 방향성 형태학적 필터를 구한다. 형태학적 필터링은 영상내 존재하는 잡음을 제거하고, 표준 영상의 경우 인간이 시각적으로 느낄 수 없는 성분을 제거한다. 형태학적 필터링은 경계선 성분을 손실시키는 결과가 발생하지만, 제안한 알고리듬은 손실된 경계선 영역을 복원하는 과정을 거친다. 그러한 과정의 결과로, 전체적인 부호화 효율이 향상된다. 특히, 제안한 알고리듬을 적용한 표준영상의 경우, 약 50-50%의 비트 발생량이 줄어드는 결과를 나타내었다. 잡음 분산값을 달리하여 만든 잡음 영상에 제안한 방법을 적용한 결과, 영상의 선명도를 유지하였다. 제안한 알고리듬은 인간의 시각 특성을 고려한 미세한 잡음 제거 방법에서 우수한 성능을 나타내었으며, 영상의 선명도를 유지하는 것을 보여 주었다.

  • This study examines the effect of the type and number of orifices in an in-line mixer to improve the mixing performance and pressure loss. Recently, in-line non-power-consuming mixers have been increasingly used to complement mechanical mixers, which have a long dwell time, noise, excessive energy consumption, and high maintenance costs. An in-line mixer with an orifice for efficient mixing in water treatment was examined by numerical analysis using the commercial code FLUENT. The flow characteristics of pressure loss and velocity distribution within the mixer and the mixing efficiency were compared with and without the orifices. The CFD results show that the mixing efficiency was improved, but the pressure loss was increased by the in-line mixer with an orifice. A sensitivity study was also done on the principal parameters.

  • A vibration-based monitoring system is newly proposed to predict the loss of prestress forces in prestressed concrete (PSC) girder bridges. Firstly, a global damage alarming algorithm is newly proposed to monitor the occurrence of prestress-loss by using the change in frequency responses. Secondly, a prestress-loss prediction algorithm is selected to estimate the extent of prestress-loss by using the change in natural frequencies. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed system is experimentally evaluated on a scaled PSC girder model for which acceleration responses were measured for several damage scenarios of prestress-loss.
