Comparison in Water Consumption, Plant and Fruit Growth of Different Europe Eggplant Cultivars in Coir Substrate Hydroponics under High Temperature Conditions (고온조건하에서 코이어 배지에서 유럽형 가지 품종별 수분소비량, 식물체 생육 및 과실 특성 비교)

  • This study aims to select eggplant cultivars adaptive to the hot temperature period greenhouse climate by water consumption, and growth performance of plants and fruits of different European eggplant cultivars, including 'Bartok (BA)', 'Bowie (BO)', 'Black Pearl (BP)', 'Ishbilia (I)', 'Mabel (M)', 'Vestale (VE)' and 'Velia (VL)', in substrate hydroponic cultivation under hot and humid greenhouse conditions. On the 118 DAT, the leaf number and stem dry weight were highest in 'VL', followed by 'M', and there was no significant difference in leaf dry weight among cultivars. The marketable fruit number per plant was 16.4 for 'M', which was higher than other cultivars, and 'VE' and 'VL' were 8.5 and 8.8, respectively. The weight per fruit was low for 'M' at 136 g, and the highest in 'VE' and 'VL' at 332 and 281 g, respectively. There was no significant difference in fruit production per plant. In this study, 'M', which has high water use efficiency and a large number of fruits, and 'VL', which required less quantity to water consumption for producing 200 g of fruit and had a high product weight, will have excellent adaptability in the UAE greenhouse condition.

  • 산업이 고도화됨에 따라 자동화 기계 및 로봇에 의해 대량 생산 되는 품목과 달리, 작업 절차의 비정형성, 비연속성 등으로 인해 여전히 농업에 많은 인력이 투입되고 있다. 국제노동기구에 따르면, 세계 인력의 절반이 농업 인력에 해당하고 작업 중 부상이나 사망 등으로 인해 가장 위험한 직업군 중 하나에 해당하는 것으로 나타났다. 시설 재배 농업의 경우, 노동집약적인 온실 내 작업 특성상 잘못된 자세로 작업하거나 지나친 작업량 등으로 인해 작업자에게 근골격계 질환이 발생할 수 있다. 근골격계 질환으로 인해 작업효율이 감소하거나 생산비용의 증가로 이어질 수 있으며, 농가 수익에 손실이 발생할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 현행 시설 재배 농업에서 사용되는 레일 전동 작업차를 이용하여 작업자가 토마토를 수확할 때의 신체에 대한 농작업의 부하를 평가하고자 하였다. 작업차를 이용한 주요 작업 절차는 작물로부터 과실 수확, 과실 상자에 과실 투입, 빈 과실 상자와 가득 찬 과실 상자의 교대, 작업차 위의 과실 상자를 운반용 파레트에 하역하는 순서로 이루어지는 것을 확인하였다. 비디오장비로 촬영된 일련의 농작업 과정을 OWAS, RULA, REBA와 같은 체크리스트형 인간공학적 작업 부하 평가 도구를 이용하여 평가한 결과, 기존 레일 전동 작업차를 이용한 농작업의 근골격계 질환 유발 가능성을 확인하였다. 동작별 위험성을 토대로 근골격계 질환 유발 가능성이 높아 개선이 필요한 농작업 동작을 선정하였다. 선정된 동작은 실험실 내 환경에서 피실험자를 통한 모의 동작의 생체 신호 계측을 통해 신체 부하 정도를 정량적으로 측정할 수 있으며, 보조가 필요한 신체 부위를 특정하거나 안전성 확보가 필요한 동작에 대한 증거가 될 수 있다. 본 연구를 통해 향후 토마토 온실 내 신선도 유지를 위한 레일 전동 작업차의 개발에 작업자의 안전과 효율성 향상을 위한 인간공학적 설계를 적용할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Instrumental and Sensory Analysis of Fruit Quality in Relation to Storability of 'Niitaka' Pear Fruit ('신고' 배 과실의 품질특성 및 관능검사에 따른 적정 저장기간 판정)

  • Quality of 'Niitaka' pear fruit was evaluated by instrumental and sensory analysis in relation to storability. Fruits harvested at commercial maturity were stored in a common storage room or in a cold storage at $2^{\circ}C$. During storage, fruits were sorted by instrumental measurement of soluble solid content (SSC) and flesh firmness. Then, overall acceptability was evaluated by organoleptic test. Critical storage period was determined by sensory evaluation index for different storage methods. After 60 days of storage, eating quality was acceptable when flesh firmness was higher than $3.3kg/8mm{\emptyset}$. As for soluble solid contents, high eating quality was obtained when pear fruit contained soluble solids higher than $13.0^oBrix$. In 'Niitaka' pears, however, changes in soluble solid content seemed not to be an appropriate parameter to determine storability since SSC increased during both common and cold storage. Data of organoleptic test and postharvest changes in flesh firmness suggested that storability of 'Niitaka' pear fruit seemed to be 30 days in a common storage and 120 days in a refrigerated storage.

Characteristics of Photosynthesis, Leaf and Fruit by Crown Layer in Rubus coreanus Miq. (복분자딸기(Rubus coreanus)의 수관 층위별 광합성 특성과 잎 및 과실 특성)

  • This study was conducted to find the characteristics of photosynthesis, leaf and fruit by crown layers in Rubus coreanus Miq. Light compensation points were shown PPFD 33, 20 and $5{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;S^{-1}$ at upper, middle and lower layer, respectively. Light saturation points were appeared PPFD 1000, 500 and 200 and their net photosynthesis rate were 8.52, 5.25 and $3.60{\mu}mol\;CO_2\;m^{-2}S^{-1}$ at upper, middle and lower layer, respectively. Uiryeong 7 which was viny type showed higher net photosynthetic rate than others at upper layer. Songgye 6 which was upright type showed lower net photosynthetic rate than others at lower layer. Chlorophyll contents of middle layer had the highest value in the all layers and upper layer showed the lowest value. Most characteristics of leaf morphology were showed that middle and lower layer had higher value than upper layer. That trend was contrary to characteristics of photosynthesis by crown layers. However, dry weight per leaf area and most characteristics of fruit had the highest value at upper layer and that was similar to characteristics of photosynthesis by crown layers. Also, sugar contents of fruit showed the highest value at middle layer.

Fruit Dieting Behavior of Black-billed Magpies, Azure-winged Magpies, and Brown-eared Bulbuls in the Cage (사육상에서 까치, 물까치, 직박구리의 과실먹이 섭식행동)

  • To investigate the bird's dieting behavior for several fruits in orchards, this study was carried out in 2008. Black-billed magpies (Pica pica), azure-winged magpies (Cyanopica cyanus), and brown-eared bulbuls (Hypsipetes amaurotis) made their unique marks on the surface of pear and apple fruits; black-billed magpies pecked fruits strongly and left round holes with perpendicular angle, whereas those of azure-winged magpies and brown-eared bulbuls were sack-shaped with narrow neck and marked unique stripes on the skin. For the fruits of pear and apple from bagging practices, the birds showed different foraging behavior; black-billed magpies could injure all kinds of fruits whether with paper bags or not, but azure-winged magpies and brown-eared bulbuls could not attack the fruits with paper bag. Azure-winged magpies and brown-eared bulbuls preferred pear fruits to those of apples and satsuma mandarins in the cage trials. To reduce the injuries by azure-winged magpies and brown-eared bulbuls on pear and apple fruit, wrapping bag should not be impaired. Introducing azure-winged magpies to Cheju should be prohibited for the potential citrus injury by them.

Fruit Characteristics of New Cultivar 'Autumn sense' of Hardy Kiwi (Actinidia arguta) by Stem Pruning (전정에 의한 신품종 다래 '오텀센스'의 과실 특성)

  • In this study, we examined the changes of fruit number and fruit weight according to the length of bearing branch of Actinidia arguta and identified the correlation the length of bearing branch and fruit characteristics. The fruit weight and the fruit number of A. arguta bearing branch which length are below 15 cm and over 30 cm were 11.7 g, 4.3 and 12.3 g, 13.8, respectively. From the results, the bearing brach which length was below 15 cm must be removed in winter season pruning. The pruning experiment was conducted to examine the effects on fruit quality and yield of A. arguta. Total fruit yield of heavy-pruning was $14.3{\pm}1.5kg/tree$. The production of fruits over 15 g wight was $8.2{\pm}0.9kg/tree$, that of fruits between 10 g to 15 g was $4.0{\pm}0.7kg/tree$, and that of fruit below 10 g was $2.1{\pm}0.3kg/tree$, respectively. Average fruit yield of nonpruning was $26.7{\pm}2.1kg/tree$, fruit yield over 15 g, between 10 g and 15 g, and below 10 g were $2.5{\pm}0.5kg/tree$, $19.2{\pm}1.4kg/tree$, and $5.0{\pm}0.6kg/tree$, respectively. Distribution of high quality fruit (over 15 g) showed that non-pruning was almost 15~16 g but pruning was evenly distributed between 15 g and 20 g. According to the survey, The high quality fruit (over 15 g) would not be harvested if the winter pruning is not applied in the A. arguta cultivation.

Comparison of Fruit Characteristics of 'Fuji'/M.26 in Response to Ethephon Treatment and Combined Treatment of Ethephon and CaCl2 During Maturing Stages (Ethephon 단용처리와 Ethephon 및 염화칼슘 혼합처리에 따른 사과 'Fuji'/M.26의 성숙기 과실특성 비교)

  • The harvest time of the late-ripening 'Fuji' apple (Malus × domestica) is variable, depending on the coloration of the fruit skin. Ethephon, a plant growth regulator, promotes the ethylene production and induces physiological responses associated with fruit maturation in climacteric fruit crops, such as apples. This study aimed to investigate the effect of ethephon treatment on fruit characteristics after fruit enlargement, with the objective of proposing an economical and stable harvest control method for 'Fuji'/M.26 apples. Fruit characteristics were assessed at 10-days intervals following the application of 100 mg/L ethephon and mixture of 100 mg/L ethephon and 0.5% CaCl2 at 145 days after full bloom (DAFB). Starch contents of ethephon-treated (ET) and ethephon with CaCl2-treated (EC) apples began to decrease from 155 DAFB, and the starch contents of ET and EC at 10 days before harvest were similar to those of control at harvest time. Red coloration of fruit skin in EC was lower compared to ET but higher than control. The average fruit firmness was low in ET, while the control and EC exhibited similar levels of firmness. Fruit sugar acid ratios did not show significant differences between treatments. However, the titratable acidity of EC was significantly lower than that of the control at 10 days before harvest. Moreover, fruit sugar acid ratio of ET and EC at 10 days before harvest in 2021 was similar to their sugar acid ratio at harvest time. Therefore, it was thought that fruit maturation and skin coloration could be accelerated by 10 days from the harvest time through the combined treatment of 100 mg/L ethephon and 0.5% CaCl2 at the end of fruit enlargement in 'Fuji'/M.26.

  • 냉온처리 기간에 따른 생육저해는 처리 시간에 비례하여 증가하는 경향이었다. 냉온처리 횟수가 증가할수록 초장, 엽면적, 건물중은 무처리에 비해 크게 감소하였으며, 오이과실의 개화후 일수에 따른 신장속도는 냉온 처리로 0.59-2.26cm/일로 약 10% 감소되었으며, 냉온처리로 오이의 상품과율과 수량은 각각 25-26%, 18-36% 감수되었다.
