  • 기계적 에너지를 전기적 에너지로 변환하는 에너지 변환소자인 압전 세라믹스는 액추에이터, 변압기, 초음파모터 및 각종 센서로 응용되고 있으며, 그 응용분야는 크게 증가하고 있다. 최근에는 이러한 압전 소자를 앞으로 도래하는 ubiquitous, 무선 모바일 시대의 휴대용 전자제품, robotics 등의 분야에 적용하기 위하여 소형화 및 경량화를 구현하고자 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 압전 특성이 우수한 PNN-PMN-PZT 삼원계 세라믹을 이용하여 압전 트랜스포머를 제작하고 전기적 특성을 평가하였다. 압전트랜스포머는 전왜-압전효과를 이용한 소전력용 고전압발생소자로서 종래의 권선형 트랜스포머에 비교해서 소형, 경량이면서 승압비가 높고 구조가 간단하므로 직류 고전압전원에 응용되고 있다. 압전트랜스의 이론적인 고찰은 Rosen 이후로 많은 연구자들에 의해서 보고되었다. 그런데 압전세라믹트랜스는 공진 시 강력한 에너지변환을 하기 때문에 재료의 물리적 특성이 매우 중요함에도 불구하고, 이러한 물리적 특성에 관한 연구는 거의 없었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 물리적 특성과 전기적 특성의 상호 연관성을 고찰하고자 하였다. 압전트랜스용 재료는 전기기계결합계수($k_p$)와 기계적품질계수(Qm)가 높아야 한다. 전기기계결합계수를 높이기 위해서는 상경계 조성의 Pb(Zr,Ti)$O_3$[PZT]계 세라믹스가 가장 우수하다. 본 연구에서는 기계적 품질계수를 향상시키기 위해서 $Pb(Nn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.06+x}(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.065-x}(Zr_{0.48}Ti_{0.52})_{0.875}0_3$계의 조성을 설계하여 압전특성을 평가하고 미세구조를 분석하였다. 또한 압전트랜스를 제작하여 입출력의 승압비 및 주파수 특성 등도 평가하였다.

  • A quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensor system for the detection of odorants, especially environmental pollutant, has been constructed by depositing various phospholipids, activated carbon and lead compound pigment onto the surface of the QCM. The characteristics of a QCM operating at 9 MHz deposited with phosphatidyl- choline were analysed. An explanation is given for different odorant affinities based on the monolayer properties of phospholipids. The identification of odorants is discussed in terms of a comparison of their normalized resonant frequency shift patterns and relative response intensities calculated from the response areas. Applying the lead compound pigment coated QCM, it was possible to detect sulfur compound specifically. Using a number of different lipid-coated QCMs, odorants could be identified by comparing the response patterns.

Analysis of the Effect of Small-Bore Piping Resonance Frequency on Defect of Welding Area (용접부의 결함이 소구경배관의 공진 주파수에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • The piping system of a nuclear power plant plays a role of transferring high energy fluid to equipment and various devices. The safety and soundness of these piping systems are very closely related to the operability of the power plant. In the case of a welded part of a small diameter pipe, it may grow as a microcrack due to a lack of penetration, and it may grow to a size that affects the safety of the pipe due to the influence of mechanical vibration and fatigue load. Resonance refers to an increase in energy as the natural frequency of an object coincides with the frequency applied to the external force. When this resonance occurs, the frequency is the resonance frequency. In this study, when defects exist in the welds of small diameter pipe, the natural frequency of the pipe changes and resonance may occur. Since these resonances are likely to cause fatigue damage to the piping, resonance frequency changes due to the size and shape of the defects are analyzed and evaluated. As a result of the vibration test, the resonance frequency tended to decrease as the depth of the defect deepened, and the influence was larger when the defect existed at the bottom of the top of the trough. Also, it was confirmed that the Transverse cracks had an effect on the resonance frequency in the presence of the cracks in the weld bead, compared to the longitudinal cracks. As a result of this study, it is expected that the cause of the defect and the condition of the pipe can be monitored because the resonance frequency tendency according to the shape of the crack is analyzed.

  • We demonstrate an S/S+band discretely tunable thulium doped fiber laser (TTDFL), anchored on a 50-㎓ ITU-T grid. Investigating the inversion analysis of the thulium doped fiber (TDF) in applying a dual wavelength (1.4 m and 1.5 m) pumping scheme, a laser whose tuning range covers most of the S/S+band has been obtained. Within the wide 3-㏈ bandwidth of 65.1 nm, the output power of the tunable laser exceeds 6.1 ㏈m with very flat spectral profile and the number of DWDM channels generated is as large as 178. If we increase the subsidiary pump power to 22 ㎽, the bandwidth is expanded up to 66.2 nm. By controlling the temperature of the fine grid filter, we have also shown that the frequency locking capability of the laser can be improved. The laser developed in this work is expected to be utilized as a practical optical source providing reference wavelengths in the S/S+band.

  • 현재 전 세계는 앞으로 사용 될 대체 에너지에 많은 관심 가지고 있다. 지금 사용하고 있는 에너지 연료는 한정되어 있기 때문에 대체에너지에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행 되고 있다. 그 중 압전체를 이용한 에너지 하베스팅은 많은 주목을 받고 있다. 주변 환경에서 필요한 에너지를 끌어 쓸 수 있는 대표적인 청정에너지 시스템 중 하나이기 때문이다. 최근 전원 공급원으로써 에너지 수확 시스템은 현 사회에 사용되고 있는 배터리로 전원을 사용하는 제품들을 소용량과 저전압 분야에서의 에너지 수확의 원리를 이용하여 전기전자제품의 사용시간 연장 및 응용분야 확대를 시도하는 연구가 활발히 수행되고 있다. 압전세라믹스를 이용한 에너지 하베스팅은 진동에너지를 전기에너지로 변환하는 것으로서 압전 특성이 높아야 한다. 일반적으로 압전 세라믹스는 PbO 성분이 들어가므로 환경적 오염 뿐만 아니라 인체에도 영향이 좋지 않으므로 많은 나라에서 이러한 성분을 제한하고 점차적으로 줄어들고 있는 시점에서 PbO를 사용하지 않고 Lead-Free 세라믹를 사용한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 일반적인 소결 방법을 이용하여 (Na,K)NbO3 세라믹에 CeO2를 첨가한 압전 세라믹을 제작하였다. 제작된 압전 세라믹스로 에너지 하베스팅 소자를 제작하고, 이 소자로 수확된 에너지로 DC-DC Converter 응용 특성에 대하서 연구하였다. 압전 세라믹스의 좋은 압전 특성을 출력하기 위하여 캔틸레버의 고유 진동수가 진동원의 주파수와 일치하는 공진을 일으켜야 한다. 따라서 구동회로는 주파수원을 찾아 설계하였고, 압전 세라믹스의 진동은 가진기를 이용하여 구동실험을 하였다. 지금까지 나와있던 에너지 하베스팅 회로와 비교하여 그 특성을 분석하고, 시뮬레이션 및 실험을 통하여 검증하였다.

Comparison between Resonance Frequency and Histomorphometric Measurements of Mandibular Implants in Beagle Dogs (비글견의 하악골에 식립된 임플랜트에 대한 공진주파수와 조직계측분석의 비교 연구)

  • The use of resonance frequency analysis (RFA) provides a possibility to clinically measure implant stability and osseointegration. The implant stability quotient (ISQ) value of RFA is well known that influenced by effective abutment length and stiffness of the implant in the surrounding tissues. Among these factors stiffness is not accurately defined histologically yet. And the purpose of this study was to find the histolgical relationship of RFA. 17 implants in 3 beagle dogs were used for this study. Among these implants 10 were survived for 7 months, 4 were survived for 3 months and 3 were immediate status after placement. Resonance frequency analyses were conducted and the dogs were sacrificed. Percentage of the bone to implant contact (BIC) in the interface, percentage of the mineralized bone (bone area) within the threads of the implant, and marginal bone level were measured under light microscopy. The correlation between resonance frequency and histomorphometric measurements were analysed and following results were obtained. 1. There was statistically significant correlation between ISQ value and BIC on healed implants. But ISQ value and BIC of all implants were not significantly correlated. (P<0.01) 2. Significant correlation between ISQ value and bone area was not found in this study. 3. There was statistically significant correlation between ISQ value and marginal bone level on all implants as well as on healed implants. (P<0.01).

Design of a Vehicle-Mounted GPS Antenna for Accurate Positioning (차량 정밀 측위용 이중대역 GPS 안테나 설계)

  • The capability of accurate positioning and tracking is necessary to implement an unmanned autonomous driving system. The moving-baseline GPS Technique is a promising candidate to mitigate positioning errors of conventional GPS system. It provides accurate positioning data based on the phase difference between received signals from multiple GPS antennas mounted on the same platform. In this paper, we propose a dual-band dual-circularly-polarized antenna suitable for the moving-baseline GPS. The proposed antenna operates at GPS L1 and L2 bands, and fed by the side of the antenna instead of the bottom. The antenna is firstly designed by calculating theoretical values of key parameters, and then optimized by means of 3D full-wave simulation software. Simulation and measurement results show that the optimized antenna offers 6.1% and 3.7% bandwidth at L1 and L2, respectively, with axial ratio bandwidth of more than 1%. The size of the antenna is $73mm{\times}73mm{\times}6.4mm$, which is small and low-profile.

Design of the Aperture Coupled Microstrip Antenna with Tilted Beam (빔 틸팅 특성을 갖는 개구 급전 마이크로스트립 안테나 설계 연구)

  • In this paper, a new type of aperture coupled microstrip patch antenna with tilted-beam based on the principal of the dipole yagi antenna is proposed and investigated experimentally. Its configuration is composed by 3 types of patches; reflector, driver, and director. Tilted beam patterns are effected by many parameters as those of dipole yagi antenna; sizes of the patches, gaps between the patches, characteristics of the substrates, feeding method and etc. Therefore, in this paper, the effects of varying design parameters of this antenna are studied with a goal of enhancing the gain and tilting the beams. A microtrip patch antenna with tilted beam based on performance trade-offs is designed and fabricated. Measured and simulated results for return loss and radiation patterns are presented. It has 45$^{\circ}$ tilted beam and very close to simulation beam pattern at resonant frequency, 2.58 GHz.

A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS WITH RESONANCE FREQUENCY ACCORDING TO VARIOUS SIMULATED BONE DEFECTS (다양한 가상 골 결함에 따른 공진 주파수의 비교 분석)

  • Purpose: Resonance frequency analysis (RFA) , a non-invasive technique for the clinical measurement of implant stability, was investigated. Peri-implant bony defect may contribute to implant failure. This in vitro study evaluated the resonance frequencies according to various bony defects and determined whether the directional bone defect can affect the value of frequency analysis. Material and Method: Fifteen 3.75 mm in diameter and 10 mm in length, machined self-tapping implant future were used. Twelve types of bone defects that have different horizontal and vertical dimensions were simulated. Embedded implants were attached to the dental surveyor. Then, the transducer was connected with the implant fixture and the ISQ value was measured at four different directions. Two-way analysis of variance and post hoc $Sch\`{e}ffe'$ test were performed at the 95% significance level. Results: The control group showed the highest ISQ value and 5 thread-$360^{\circ}$ group had the lowest one. As the vertical exposure of implants in each angle was increased, the ISQ value was decreased. Although the horizontal exposure in each thread was increased, the ISQ value was not significantly decreased. Conclusion : Although the simulated defect type was different from each other, the ISQ value was similar among groups.

A study on characteristics of magneto-dielectrics as the antenna substrate (안테나 기판으로 자성유전체 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In order to obtain magneto-dielectrics with various permmittivity and permeability which could be used as the antenna substrate, various magneto-dielectrics compounded of dielectric materials(such as silicon and epoxy resin) and magnetic materials(such as carbonyl iron, barium and strontium powder) were fabricated. The relative permittivity and permeability of those were measured by use of HP 4291B impedance analyzer. Based upon the measured results, inverted-F meander monopole antennas(IFA) which were printed on the magneto-dielectric substrates fabricated as film type were designed and fabricated to investigate into variations of antenna characteristics such as the resonant frequency and impedance bandwidth in comparison with use of dielectric substrate. Some simulated and measured results for the designed IFA were presented. Characteristics of magneto-dielectrics which are different according as the choice of magnetic material or the composition ratio between magnetic material and dielectric material is different have been discussed.
